 SailAway photobucket inactive account

Hi, I'm getting about fifty non-displaying images on my skin saying SailAway's photobucket account has been inactive for 90 days. Distracting to say the least. Thought I should let somebody know!

Re: Mini Felicity Doll (Traveling Gown) - Mattel
« Result #3 Today at 12:10am »

My Felicity's dress was a little oddly made so it makes her look fat. But anyway...I bought her in late 2005/early 2006 (can't remember).

The Doll: Her hair is very soft; it looks more brown than red though. A white ribbon ties around the ponytail and she has a few little curls. The wispies around her face are really stiff, like they've been saturated in hair gel. Oh, and one of her legs is shorter than the other.

The Dress: I wasn't a big fan of this new meet dress, and I like the mini version even less. The fabric is my main complaint. It seems really slick and cheap, not like taffeta at all. The flowers are printed on. It's trimmed with tiny tucks around the sleeves (which really should be longer), the bodice front, and the hem. The sleeves and neck are edged in TINY lace.

The Shoes: the shoes are ADORABLE! Black pleather, to be sure, but they have what seems like real metal buckles, extremely tiny, and fit my Felicity very well.

The Stockings: nice quality, off-white knee socks.

The Shift: thin cotton, velcroes up the back. A pleasant surprise to find it on the mini doll.

The Book: nice quality, I must say the new AG book covers look great. Hardbound like the rest of the books; comes with a book jacket.

All in all, I was pretty satisfied with Felicity; I just wish her hair was a little more red and less brown.

This is one of my favorite dresses for Samantha. It's such a smart look, and the fabric is wonderful - though not what I think of when I think of flannel. It feels more like a felted wool, perfect for crisp fall days. The contrast stitching and white buttons are very cute, and I don't have any problems with the riding up that other reviewers complained about when she wears this with her lacey whites, though the pleats tend to want to pop out under the full petticoat, which is its own problem. I give this an A based on its fabric and appearance.

Here is Samantha looking very cute and ready for... reading about cats.

This is the first dress you see Samantha wearing in Meet Samantha, so I always considered it to be much more iconic than her Meet Dress. The fabric is thick and crisp, the design is simple and clean with its starched yoke, collar, and cuffs, and the pinafore is a versatile piece that looks adorable with a variety of other dresses. I also love the thick hair ribbon that comes with it, though it is very hard to tie properly!

I'll give this dress an A for sheer cuteness.

Here is Samantha in her play dress:

I bought this quilt from a board member, so I do not have Sari's quilt that accompanies it. Mine has a small tag marked Pleasant Company, 1996. Kirsten's quilt is a lovely coverlet, just as it is described in the books, with simple patchwork squares that have varying designs on them.

I wish the quilt was a little bigger... I don't have her bed, so I hoped that I could wrap it around her shoulders. However, it's too small for that. Other than the size, I love it! B+ due to size.

Kirsten wrapped up in her quilt:

I love her!! I got her for my birthday this year, I give her A+++
I love her hair but since her hair came in pigtails it left lines where the elastics were but they went away. That would happen with any doll that came with pigtails though. So, I love her!She looks great in pictures :)

Aw. I think I know why this outfit is continually on sale: I'm guessing many have returned this outfit because of that shirt. Though adorable, the waffle shirt is terribly difficult to put on the doll. Even when I finally wrested it on the doll, it looked a little goofy (crooked?). The vest gets an A+ for style and ease of use, the pants are darling (hey, I'm not saying I would wear them, but this is for a doll who is supposed to be 10! :) ). Darn that shirt... it's such a great set otherwise!

Well, my computer recovered from this. I think MacAfee (which was already on our computer) stopped it from getting too deeply embedded, and then Malwarebytes Antiwalware removed it. Thanks to the poster who suggested downloading malwarebytes - it took 2 hours to scan our computer, but found and fixed 15 infected files and now everything's working again. Phew. That was really scary/frustrating.

After 24 hours away I really missed this place! Which makes me think that I have to stay a bit more just to prove that I can. And to avoid using up EofA's ad-free credits.

Actually it's not technically viral. A virus has to be self-replicating. That is once it infects a computer, it has to actively infect other computers using that one. Nastiness isn't really a factor in if it's technically a virus.

This is more accurately a trojan or just malware since it infects from the website/internet and only onto the PCs that visit a site with the bad code.

So I think they may be purposely saying it's not a virus to falsely reassure people, despite that they know when people say "virus" they mean to include all these types of malicious programs not just self replicating traditional virii.

Proboards support could be politicians.

I've been trying to stay off the board to help to not use up the credits. ;)

We have reports from users that a page has come up on forums saying that it is "scanning" your computer for viruses. It then claims that you are infected with a virus. Based on the information provided by users who have seen this come up, we believe that the scan is fake and that no computers become infected with a virus. Except people have also reported javascript downloader trojans. The scan is fake, but it tries to install malware if it can. The site the exploit tried to send people to that was first mentioned on this thread downloads FraudTool.Win32.RogueSecurity.

It's a fake virus scanner, but also malware/a trojan itself because it takes over the system to prevent using a legitimate virus scanner, and try to rob people of their money. It also changes icons and messes with legitimate programs.

How much it can take over depends on the browser, OS it's running on, how well patched it is, what security software the user has, etc.

I found this today, which helps to get rid of this family of evil programs.

That's truly very kind of you to suggest, Latte. But honestly, I think I'd rather see people here use their money to upgrade to better virus protection for their own PCs. It just happened to be Proboards that got hit with this, but it can happen anywhere you surf. Best to protect your own computers.

The ad-free credits are meant to be a temp work-around solution.

Thanks for further info, EofA. It is so reassuring to know you and ProBoards are keeping up on the issue. Viruses are scary, but it's good to know you're looking out for us.

Hmm...can we set up a donation account to contribute to those ad-free credits?? Merry Christmas, AGPT?

Kit’s Cookstove
Item# F6583
Kit uses this stove to help Mother cook for the family. It’s perfect for making big meals—the faux-marbleized enamel top gives her a place to keep bowls of produce handy. The doors above the stove really open, and a play temperature gage lets Kit know how hot the stove is inside. Girls can open the firebox door to see the pretend wood fire glow. $68

Awesome Cyber Monday Sale:

Let's not harbor any fantasies here, the sucker is made of plastic. A smooth, lightweight shinny plastic. The main colors are light blue and a shade of ivory. The marble counter top is a very faux shade of rose-tint marble.

The oven comes in two pieces, which come together in about two minutes. I have not yet tired to take it apart again but it seems like that would be a difficult process. Due to the unattractive state of the cook stove's backside, keep it close against the wall.

The cook stove as a lot of potential storage place, which is what made me want to get the thing in the first place. It seems like it can store at least Kit's Produce and Preserves set and her holiday treats stuff. The top self is big enough to display a couple of bowls along with some cooking supplies.

American Girl, seriously? >:( By 1934 a formally wealthy family in a big city would had owned an electric stove. Furthermore, this picture would even make the most innocent little girl go REALLY? ::)

Other than the so-fake fire the cook stove does have some realistic details. The door has a small temperature gage reader. Not very detailed but the thought is there. Also, the cook stove has some pretty little details like the embossed flowers along the stove.

The stove top. It would had been really cool if the lids were removable like old iron ovens but alas.

Kit looking at her new cook stove. Kit is slightly taller than the cook stove and it is scaled to her size.

Kit, the cook stove, the washing machine and the desk to show size range. All three are very study pieces of furniture but unlike the desk, the cook stove is more likely to stand up to some very heavy cooking playtime.

I'm glad that I waited for Cyber Monday. Things worth $68 are Samantha's bike and Kirsten's holiday treats, this stove is just not in their league. The storage ability and display quality are worth the price of probably $58 and under but don't pay full price.

A for awesome sale price B- for full price.

EofA, that's quite nice of you. Maybe the ad credits won't be used as fast as usual since many of us are off fixing our computers? (she says ruefully)

I got infected yesterday, so I'm iPhone-only until our computer is fixed. Ack! Having this thread is helpful though; at least I know I'm not alone. See you all in a while... I'm going to try / being forced to appreciate an offline life for a bit.

I know the folks at Proboards are working overtime to deal with this but we all know how, uhm, virulent viruses can be. I've gone ahead and made a purchase of some ad-free credits for this forum. I expect they will get used up fairly quickly, but I feel awful that some of you have been infected by ads here and I feel a responsibility to do what I can to prevent that happening to others while Proboards is still trying to sort things out with their ad networks.

I don't know if this is helpful to anyone, but I did a scan after experiencing the virus symptoms and found one item of concern in my Temporary Internet Files. It is a trojan/virus called "JS/Dload-GZ" I have successfully (I hope) eradicated it, but I thought I'd pass the name along if it helps anyone else keep their system free.

I've lost track of what all we run on this PC, but yeah, McAfee alone won't cut it.

There will be a slight lag time until this takes effect, but Proboards is once again disabling its ad network until they can shut this down for good. So once again, we should all be safe while it is down.

ETA: *snort* Go away, keyword-generated ad for IE at the top of the forum. You're not getting any buyers today.

She said earlier she has McAfee.

Sadly it isn't very good, and many new viruses specifically can target and disable it.

Oh, ok, I missed that. Thanks. My parents are convinced that the McAfee that comes with their cable internet is sufficient...I keep telling them they need to invest in a little more protection!

I'm sorry, Cherry. I agree that you need to take your PC in to get it cleaned. I think it's beyond doing it yourself. And PLEASE, do not buy anything because it's just the virus trying to trick you.

Yes, it's too big. The maximum height on this board is 320 pixels, which is a rule we have for several reasons. The main reason for size limits is that lots of huge images can really slow the forum load times down for members who are running slower internet connections. Tall images can also break up the flow of conversation; wide images can stretch the board out and mess up skins.

Memory, I'm sorry for the trouble you are having. I know it can be scary and frustrating; I had to deal with a serious infection on my old computer.

Do you work for or know anyone who works for a company with a Computer/Tech Department? The folks at the school where I work are FABULOUS and so helpful, even with non-work computer problems. If that isn't an option, I have heard good things about computer service companies in my area, so look into that. May be pricey, but the results are reassuring.

May I ask, do you have any kind of virus protection program already, which did not protect you from this ad virus problem to begin with? I have found the peace of mind with my virus protection program to be well worth the money!

You may have to pay someone to kill that evil bastard.

Anything beyond this point requires renaming files and editing registries and stuff you shouldn't do if you don't know what you are doing.

Yes, sadly. It first came up as a Windows alert window, upon which I clicked "X" just as my virus program alerted me to an already-quaratined threat. Then the AGPT forum window changed to what LOOKED like "My Computer" being scanned, which I just clicked "X" on as well. I am so trained to "Just click the X!" so I do that before thinking of anything else. Perhaps not the best method...lol

Using Firefox now. I have it at work and use it, but I never got around to putting it on my home computer until now.

ANOTHER trick!

Anything
that is saying you need to pay, is the virus trying to scam you.

I don't even think it is running malwarebytes at all. it sees you trying to run it and is showing you it's fake scanner.

You are infected badly. I'm really sorry.

Right, it's not just Proboards that gets hit with this crap, and in their defense they are working diligently to deal with this.

They disabled the responsible ad network again at 5 PM PST today, and it's seeming like the problems you folks experienced occurred before that was done. We should be safe for now, while the network is frozen.

ETA: Erm, I'd say at this point that no one is safe if using IE. They are still working on this with their ad networks.

LOTS of sites have this problem, not just this one. I've seen it on Myspace and Gaiaonline too. Any company that uses outside ads can get hit. Once they do, it's really hard to figure out what ad company has it, and then get THAT ad company to remove the bad ad.

I'm in Firefox 3.
It's tools-> options -> tabs -> Uncheck the box next to "open new windows in tabs instead" and then OK. :)

I LOVE tabs though. I don't know how I lived without them.

Memory, this is a lesser problem for you right now, but Sara's helping you out on the virus front- if you don't like tabs, there's almost certainly a setting in Firefox to change from opening in tabs to opening in new windows. I run a different Mozilla-based browser, but the process is probably similar.

Go to the Tools menu > select options. Under options, there should be a tab for...uh...tabs. It'll be labeled "Tabs" or something like it. Then there should be settings with things like "open new page" and you'll want to change all of those from "open new tab" to "open new window".

I'm smart. LOL :P

Yeah, I've just delt with this type of infection a lot before. It usually uses a flaw in IE to install itself, and since IE is integrated with Windows it can do way more damage.

They actually can install to Firefox, it's just much rarer and usually requires the user to agree to install their virus (which who in their right mind would do, KWIM?) With adblock you never see the ad, and it never loads so it never even gets the chance to ask.

Sorry, I've not been around today. I checked in with Support and it looks like they re-enabled ad networks yesterday after shutting down to just Google for a while, having thought the problem was solved. Then a new rash of new virus reports popped up from a number of Proboards forums. It seems IE gets fingered as a vulnerable browser from my quick read of the threads over on Support, so Sara's advice above to try to avoid using it may be right on target.

The ad network responsible for delivering the ads which caused this problem was disabled (again) today, and they are trying to pinpoint if people have been affected since that happened.

I've directed them to this thread for info, since it is open to public viewing.

It's

http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam-download.php

You can also just right click the link and click "copy shortcut", then when in the URL bar in Firefox, click ctrl+v or right click and select "paste" and it'll give you link all handy like. :)

Lots of files doesn't really slow a PC. I have mine full of about 25,000 music file and almsot as many pictures and it's still fast.

Oh, if you have Firefox, can you try downloading the link in it? It might not be infected to the extent IE is! I didn't want to make you DL Firefox but if you have it already well. :D Some of these even infect Windows itself and that wouldn't work, but it's worth a try I think.

If I were closer to you, I'd sanitize that sucker for you. It's just really hard to anything long distance and I am a terrible teacher.

I have to use Firefox because Kodak's new yucky website won't run on IE after I updated Yahoo. Whaaaaat? I don't like Firefox. It keeps opening all the stupid tab things. I have no tech savvy whatever. My computer is about 4 years old and loaded to the gills with photos, which is really the only reason I wanted one at home. So I figured that's why it's so slow. Damn, what I really need to spend my money on right now is new glasses so I can SEE, never mind the hassle of letting a stranger into my cluttered house.

Sigh.

Probably. Many places will check your PC for free and tell you if needs something done. 15 minutes for any program on a new computer is a sign something is VERY wrong.

There are free ways to make it all better, but it requires enough tech savvy to defeat the infections, which are obviously hellbent on not GTFO. These things are designed to take over, and be hard as hell to get rid of.

For the future Internet Explorer is a piece of junk. You probably will be infected again if you keep using it, by no fault or interaction of your own. Firefox, Google Chrome, Safari are all better choices. Firefox is the most developed and most secure out of the bunch and has addons to make it more so.

Kodak's new and improved format is forcing me to figure out how to use Picasa. If Kodak does away with their "Classic Gallery" altogether, I will never use their website again. I hate their new slideshows, the way the shopping cart fails to work, and most especially that they removed all my homepages when I didn't cough up $50 to "renew" what I thought was a lifetime membership, so I lost access to all my published albums last May. I finally paid them the extortion money and now they're doing away with the home pages anyway.

Should I hire someone to come and clean/test my PC? It's been running very slow, even before this happened. Like it takes about 15 minutes just to get my Kodak software to boot up!

Sorry, but your PC is likely compromised. :(

It's free, the site is CNET which is totally safe. The virus is trying to keep you from getting rid of it. Whatever you do, do not pay anyone. That's what these things do, try to steal your money by installing themselves then wanting you to pay to remove them.

My parents computer did the same thing. I downloaded it on my laptop and installed it from my flash drive.

I will do a quick Google and see if there's an easier way.

AGPT has different rules from AGF. You better check the size limit before Angry Jess comes after you. You can find help in the tech section of the board.

I can tell you from experience that the mods will let you know if it is too big, and picture height ( I now know) should be 320 pixels. :) So, I'd say yes. And if the person who "told" you was a mod, I'd hop - to changing it. :)

Someone mentioned to me that it was over the limit of size that signatures are supposed to be. Is that true? This is an alright size on AGFMB. ???

Thanks!

Did you close AOL and IE right away?

McAfee is a 50/50 shot at detecting Vundo and trojans like it. They specifically target it to keep it from being detected. Even if it detects it, it often can't get rid of it.

If you want to be really sure , try Malwarebytes Anti-Malware

Its small, effective, 100% free, and if says your computer is clean, it probably is. If it's not clean, it's really good at cleaning it up.

 Re: Holiday Dress
« Result #61 on Dec 11, 2009, 8:59pm »

Received tonight this VERY wrinkled dress. The fabric is some kind of light weight jersey that I don't think was manufactured in the 1930s so inappropriate for Ruthies era. I had to iron the bottom of the dress because honestly I have never seen anything so wrinkled in my life. There is no way I could put it on a doll as it was. I was very careful to use low heat because this is the type of fabric that would melt if iron was too hot. My Ruthie is chubby so I hope she fills out the wrinkles in the top part of the dress. The embroidery is nice.

Headband is way too tight...I tried putting on Ruthie but was struggling so hard I was afraid her head was going to pop off and even then I could not get all her hair behind the headband. I am going to replace the elastic....don't they try these accessories on the dolls before marketing them?

An AG clothes hanger was included which I thought they weren't doing anymore so that was a nice bonus.

The tights look standard...haven't tried them on her yet....hope they are not as tight as the headband!

Obviously I am keeping the outfit because it is near Christmas and I want Ruthie to have her dress for the "family Christmas portrait", but seriously I am so disappointed I am going to write AG....something in my 14 years of buying from them I never was moved to do before.

Firefox doesn't block it unless you have adblock, which everyone who has Firefox should anyway. ;)

When I said most Firefox users are immune I meant it can't install the ton of stuff and take over your computer like It can in MSIE. It will still pop up and try unless you have adblock though.

I LOVE Julie's Locker, I got it as an early Christmas gift and I've been wanting it ever since I first saw it! It's such an accurate replica of a vintage style USA school locker and I think it adds character to my bedroom :D

Julie's Locker holds much more than I had anticipated which I am thankful for. However, my dolls hanging clothes are very crammed in and have hardy any breathing room so I do wish it could of been a little bit bigger. I wouldn't recommend this to someone with an extensive AG collection/doll clothes who wants only one storage solution for their doll things. You will run out of room very quickly. The locker is a sturdy item and the metal used is good quality and it's thick! The locker features a VERY CUTE pink floral type wallpapered background which is really a big sticker they have placed in the back. If you are not careful you could possibly rip the corners of the wallpaper off!

^ VERY tight fit! (the hanging rods are sturdy and will not break or buckle under any pressure which I really like!

Another feature of the locker is over head shelfs. The shelfs don't hold too much but I managed to fit a few things I wanted nicely. :)

The bottom half of the locker is where this piece really shines for me personally. I was surprised at how many accessories I was able to fit in there. Everything just fit in like a jigsaw puzzle.

Julie was happy to show off her locker so here she is in comparison. (W: 17" X H: 24" X D: 7")

On both doors there are small hooks to hang bags, hats and other small accessories. I like this because it maximises storage capability.

The handles/combination lock is very cute and the lock works well.

To open the locker you turn the combination lock until you reach the side of plastic which has one side cut off this then pops open the door....ok not sure if that made sense but it is very simple to use. :D

The doors are numbered 21 and 22, this gives the locker yet more points in the realistic arena!

and finally you also get (from AG):

"Five pop-culture posters, including one of The Brady Bunch
Basketball and flower stickers
A postcard that Dad sent from Paris"

These are cute and I'm glad they are included but I wont be opening/using mine. :)

WOW, that was quite a substantial review hahah :D All in all I am in love with Julie's locker and I would highly recommend it. It's realistic looking, sturdy, doesn't take too up much room and I just know it will be the envy of my friends ;) Personally I would of liked in a little bit bigger only because I don't have hardly any room. I'll give it an A...it's not really AG's fault MY THINGS are a tight fit (although it is AG's fault for making too many cute things and making me buy them which is why it is a tight fit!) so in that case I'll shout it an A+ :)

Sadly, this type of fur was very popular back then. Very young or even fetal Karakul lambs were prized for pelts. Newborn karakul sheep's pelts were called karakul (also spelled caracul), or astrakhan or krimmer in Russia. Newborn lambs have a tight, curly pattern of hair and must be under three days old when they are killed, or they will lose their black color and soft, tightly worn coils of fur. Dark colors are dominant and lambs often darken in color as they age. People used the lambs' pelts to create various clothing items, such as the karakul hat, or in haute couture.

Pretty awesome, isn't it? :) Note for the future, if there's anything it doesn't catch on its own, you can right click on the ad and there'll be an option to adblock it. You can also do that with regular images, for example if you're looking at a site with a background that's not to your taste.

I have to second the advice tip! I have had problems lately with pop-up windows practically everytime I go to a new page, not just here, but the web in general. It was crazy! One minute there's one page, the next I have a groupingof like 8 or so! AHH
So far I installed and set up the settings, no more annoying windows! YAY! *does snoopy dance*

Unlike the other AG calendars this one is decorated with JLY dolls and not Historical Characters.

The size is smaller too. It's a 7" square when shut. The photos inside are of different JLY dolls doing seasonal activities. Very cute.

The calendar was available with a Julie promotional set that came out in Fall 2007.

Thank you. Here's the picture from the website:

It looks about the same to me. It's a dark brown. I would have liked black hair better on the dark skinned dolls, but the dark brown hair looks okay.

Biggest issue I have with this is that the canned fruit/Tomatoes look nothing like real canning.
I love the colander and the I would be uncomfortable giving glass jars to my niece so I like the plastic jars. The stock pot needs a lid (but I love it) anyway.

I gave this to my niece but tried it on my Samantha first. Unfortunately, I untied the tie since the velcro was under the collar. That was fun to retie.
Cute outfit just remember it velcros when you first get it.

Not a review here, since MrsMac seems to cover everything very well. I just wanted to show a photo of Nicki wearing this because my photo doesn't show it so DARK pink.

And a big Thanks! to MrsMac for gifting this precious outfit to me.

My Kirsten that I won on Ebay arrived yesterday. She's gorgeous & I'm satisfied, but I thought her hair would be thicker. Of all the American Girls I like Kirsten the best. She has the best stories & personality. Now that I'm a mom, she has the kind of personality I hope my daughter will have: She loves her parents & is responsible but she also knows how to enjoy being a kid, she tries to do her best, & she's a girly girl too. Usually I like the black dolls best, especially since our baby girl that we adopted is black, so it's interesting that I like the blonde, blue eyed AG best, but Kirsten is my favorite!
I give her an A, the only thing that would make it an A+ is if she had thicker hair.

Well, I just bought this outfit during the Cyber Monday sale this year (09).
For $9 shipped I thought I would try it.
Yes, the shirt is very thin, not very warm if this were for real. I put this outfit on my PM Kirsten and the turtleneck went on with a breeze, but the dress was a tad tight in the waist. The shoes seemed to be tight also, not sure if they would be looser on a Mattel doll or not.
I do think that tights or some type stocking would be best. I happened to have a pair of navy blue thin hose, and they seem to work well. Since there are no pics of the dress with tights I will add mine for those who are curious:

Pretty awesome, isn't it? :) Note for the future, if there's anything it doesn't catch on its own, you can right click on the ad and there'll be an option to adblock it. You can also do that with regular images, for example if you're looking at a site with a background that's not to your taste.

It's interesting you mention that about her looking the most like a real person. I was at a parade yesterday and double took on a little girl that I saw in the crowds. She looked EXACTLY like this doll.

I was afraid I might have gotten it here. I noticed my computer tried to lock up while loading a page... I tried to exit out, but it was too late I guess. I started getting the pop-ups and now my computer is being worked on. Oh well, at least now I know where it came from. It was quite terrible. It put up porn icons on my desktop! I will definitely be more careful from now on. I was almost afraid to come here (using my dh's laptop now)... but really, a whole week has gone by and I was hoping the problem would be fixed by now. Thankfully it seems like it is.

General tips for all of you browsing the forum right now: there are two things you can do to help. The first is to download a Mozilla-based browser, like Firefox or Safari, that allows add-ons, and then search for the add-on "Adblock." This is great to have anyway because it blocks most ads automatically for you and will reduce problems like this in general, plus you won't have to see ads in general.

I saw this doll in person at AGPNY and she looks like a real person. I mean of all the dolls, this one looks as if she resembles a real human being.

This happened to me Friday at work. But I had no idea what was the cause. All of a sudden, I got a window offering to scan my computer for viruses. I tried to close it, which opened another window which appeared to scan my system and reported tons of trojans and told me to click something to clean it up. I tried closing it again several times, and it just kept popping back up. I think I ctrl-alt-deleted IE or something to make it stop. I knew enough to know it wasn't really scanning my computer and that it was probably something bad, and work probably already has it's own virus stuff. But again, I had no idea why it was happening or where it came from til I read this thread.

Yes, but it is incredibly expensive. You pay by the number of page views hits; it starts at $7.00 per 50,000 pageviews per month. That may not sound like much, but think about how how many pages you view when you come on here for just one session, then multiple it by 700+ members. We tried doing that once and it was amazing how quickly our credits expired. I actually thought about doing it yesterday when this news broke but I couldn't justify the personal expense knowing how quickly the credits get eaten up. Sorry! It shouldn't be a problem now since they're limiting ad, but I feel kind of sick thinking about those of you who were affected and whose systems were compromised.

Proboards is feeling the pain from this as well. Latest report from them "We have been in constant contact with the company that manages our ads and they are well aware of the situation. We have been working on this for days and will continue to do so. In the mean time, only ads from Google will display instead of from other ad networks as well."

Yes, I have had this happen also in the past three days, none today though. I, too, was not able to see if it was an ad, though one time it came up as a virus scanner (I've had that virus twice - they are called "Antivirus 2009" and "Antivirus 2010", but don't be fooled, they are really viruses themselves.) Thank you all who are striving to fix this problem!!

1. Not sure if it was an ad.
2. If it was an ad, was unable to see the actual ad.
3. Florida.
4. IE.

By the way, would clicking on "Click here to make this board ad-free" have saved anyone from this? Just curious.

This happened to me today as well. I was reading something on AGPT, and then I left it up while I put my daughter down for a nap. When I came back the computer was going crazy. I had the page that said I had hundreds of trojans attacking and I needed to run a windows virus scan. I kept trying to exit that window and it kept multiplying. I finally just shut off the computer. When I rebooted, I ran my Norton 360 scan and it did not show any spyware present. I have also updated my firewall settings. Hopefully, there is nothing on my computer.

Just downloaded and ran latest Windows Defender and it came up clean too.
