Keep trying. You need to change the avatar field to "none," and probably put in the custom size (start with 100 by 100 and adjust it down to look proportionally correct as per your preferences).
If you're really boggled, just put the URL here and one of the mods can insert it for you, if it is the right size (100 x 100 max).

Cool. I didn't want to give you the directions if the link would change!
Anyway, if you're plugging the tinyurl into the space for the avatar, it simply won't work. All links to graphics on ProBoards MUST end in a file type, or they won't show up as graphics. I know that in regular coding, you can do <img src="http://tinyurl.com/63sn48"> or whathaveyou and get an image to show, but not here.
To plug it in, go to the Modify Profile page and scroll down to the "Personal Information" section. There's a drop-down box where you can choose AGPT avatars. Set that to 'none.'
The next box down is "Avatar URL." Paste the link to your picture there.
After that is Avatar Width and Height. Leave those blank! You can fill in the width and height of the image, but if you do the wrong ones, it'll make the picture show up weird, and I don't think it's actually needed (they might fill in automatically after you save your profile).
And, well, that's all you need to do. Scroll down to the bottom and choose "modify profile" to save.

For some reason it won't let me change my avatar from Jess! I wanted to switch to the Molly cameo but no go so I tried again...and again...and even tried to switch to no avatar but that didn't work, either.
Any advice?
(Just to be fair, I should warn you - I think Angry Jess may be behind this!)

She might be. Last we knew, she was off celebrating the sell-out of Jess dolls at MCM.
Anyway, changed it for you. We've learned by trial and error that you have to completely delete the URL of the former avatar, even if it is one of the selections Playthings offers, before it will take your new selection.

That's your new avatar? It's okay if it's not 100x100 as long as both dimensions are smaller than that.
Proboards may try to resize it to 100x100 for you, though. When you plug in your avatar address, there's a box underneath for width and one for height. Type 75 in for width and 100 for height.
It still won't work, I have tried it about 30 times. Any other suggestions?
It might be helpful if you were more specific about what you're doing and what not working means (it looks like it's just not appearing? Is that correct?).
It looks like you uploaded to Photobucket. Make sure you copy and paste the address titled "direct link" and not the message board code.

Please help me! I cannot for the life of me find the URL of my avatar picture. I've tried clicking the "properties" button on the picture, but it doesn't show the URL, just the location and some other things. Any help?

The location IS the url.
What service are you using to upload the image? Most will give you different code options: HTML, Message Board, Email & IM link, and direct link. They will be in four boxes. You can see these in the tutorial which is linked in the FAQ at the top of this section if you want to know what they look like. You'll want to use the one that says "direct link" for your avatar and "message board" for your signature.

YES!! Thank you thank you thank you! I was confused at first because it wouldn't show up as my avatar, but then I realized I still had the [img] things around the URL. Hehe (: Again, thank you SO much. I swear, I don't think I'd have ever gotten my own avatar without you. (: Now it's time for my signature!!
