15-med skin, tex bl hair, dk br eyes RETIRED « Thread Started on Aug 9, 2006, 1:36pm »
I received AGT #15 yesterday and let me tell you, she is a lot prettier than what the catalog or pictures show... she has long textured dark hair which goes past her butt... it would probably be really fun to style.. she has medium colored skin, and rosy cheeks... her dark brown eyes really stand out! She is just gorgeous! I highly recommend anyone that is thinking about getting her to do so.. I heard rumors she may be retiring? Thats why I got her now... Ill be posting more pictures in the not so distant future... I still have to come up with a name for this gorgeous girly!

I have both a Mattel and Pre Mattel version of these dolls. They are both absolutely gorgous. I do find that I prefer the PM's hair. Perhaps it is just mine - maybe I should buy another to know definalety - but the Mattel's hair is to thicklyy piled in the front where its hard to do anytihng with except put it up in the half ponytail it comes in.
Retiring????
Seeing Wrxgrls I am almost tempted to get me a 2nd Mattel example.

I have to add my Rainne to this thread. She is my first Today girl. I just love her hair, though thanks to my daughter, Rainne's had a trim. She's still gorgeous though.
Rainne is on the right, and TD Kiana is on the left. TD Kiana really touched our hearts when she visited last year. Hosting her really helped us at a very trying time in our lives. We really miss her. She was so sweet.

My 15, Janni, is a character whose family is from Kashmir. We are making her a modern girl, but like her to wear cultural dress for special occasions. She is an A- for us because of hair manageability issues.
There's a lot of skin tone variation with the medium complected dolls, whom I find to be a challenge to photograph accurately.
I know some people worry about dealing with textured hair if they haven't had any experience with it, but this doll is just great to learn on. She only misses being an A for me because of the two hair layers/lack of part, which makes styling a little more challenging.
Here is a photo of the two different lengths of hair, which I've exaggerated by making the pulled-back section stand out. When braided, that section blends in better.
This doll does not have a part, much like Kailey. In fact, I think of her as Kailey's opposite in terms of coloring, but exactly the same in terms of concept. And of course, they share the original face mold.
Her hair is a lot of fun to play with, and goes nicely into up-dos.

I too bought this doll amid retirement rumors. I don't usually buy a JLY doll until I at least have a name for her, so this was my first time deviating from that pattern. Mine came today in the I Like Your style outfit. It isn't as flattering on her as it is on my JLY 25, Juanita.
Her textured hair came in a partial braid and it had a ponytail underneath the braid with the purple ponytail holder from the I Like Your Style Outfit. I really do like this doll--she's probably a very unique doll among the JLY dolls.
After much thought (and watching NCIS reruns) I named mine Ziva and tacked the middle name of Lorraine on, thus my JLY 15 is Ziva Lorraine--and a Jew from Israel, like the NCIS character she gets her first name from.
My biggest gripe with this doll is that her hair is in two layers: a heavy but short front layer that the braid came in, and a long second layer that goes down to her butt. Her hair is somewhat hard to style for this reason--not because its textured but because there are two very noticeable and different layers to her hair.
Grade: A- for the annoying front braid her hair came in and the two layers it creates when it is put down.

I have this girl and had planned on getting Marisol but instead came home with her. I initially called her Suga' for the first year or so and my husband made the comment that "Suga'" could only be a nickname and not a proper name! OK! So I've named her Cecily after Cecily Tison. (spelling) I love her dark eyes and hair! I had her hair cornrowed before we left the hotel and it stayed that way for months. I am displeased with the two different lengths and I always have a round thin cornrow braid that goes along her forehead and blends into multiple hairstyles but keeps things in the hairline under control! I had purchased a lovely two piece bathing suit just for her in a leopard print for summer and the browns made her skin look green in cast. So we had to change suits with one of the other girls. She looks awesome in Marisol's tap outfit and the old nautical outfit (white pants and striped shirt). She's such a pretty girl I give her an A-! ~Jan~

I just recieved #15 in the mail on Jan 6th, 2008. I absolutely love this doll. Her skin has the prettiest color. The closest thing I can think of would be coffee with two creams in it (I drink that everyday), and just a bit lighter than Josefina. I have never had a doll with textured hair before either, (except for a mini Addy), and I am loving it! So far most of these reviews don't like the hair in the front. I LOVE how it is layered there with out a part. So far I have been able to do any hairstyle I've wanted to do. Also, the hair in front is only super short if you pull it back. If you let it fall to the sides, it is the same length as the hair in the back. (Minus a few centimeters from the cutting of the braid to make the ends straight) I love that I can make her part go any which way I like. When I first took her out of the box I thought she had thin hair because a lot of it was in that braid. I took the braid out in the first ten minutes of owning her, and he hair became so thick a pretty! She has sooo much hair! I really reccomend her for anyone who likes doing doll hair because of the infinate possabilities! She looks fantastic in anything I've put her in so far. Blue, Purple, and Pinks all seem to be the most stunning on her. Definatly the best AG doll made according to me A+!!

I just received my #15 this week and she is stunning. The seller was selling her as "Josefina" but I could tell who she was!
But I wasn't prepared for her to be so 'beefed up'. She looks like a linebacker! She has the broadest shoulders of all my girls and her waist is 12" around! Her biceps are 4 3/8" (compared to Nicki's at 4 1/8")
She's very soft and squishy, so she's not overstuffed. Just a 'big-boned' girl, I guess. Her hair is beautiful.

I scored my retired #15 from Ebay in April 2009, and I have to tell you she is stunning! Her name is Veronica after my paternal grandmother. She is PM.
She has bubble eye in both eyes, and I haven't had the heart to send her to the hospital. Otherwise, she's a fabulous doll.
