When JLY/AGT12 was released in 1995, she was quite unique with her blond hair and brown eyes. However, over the last 12 years, several other dolls with blond hair and brown eyes have been released, namely: Kailey, GT24 and Julie.
JLY/AGT12 has the same wig as GT3 and GT20. It’s a tad darker than Kailey’s and a tad lighter than GT24’s. Over the years, I’ve owned 2 pre-Mattel AGT12s and both have had hair issues. Although their hair was/is thick, they shed a lot. Their hair also became dry and brittle quite quickly. I’ve never had that problem with other American Girl dolls. JLY/AGT12 has pretty brown pinwheel eyes. They’re lighter than some American Girl brown eyes and darker than others.
Perhaps it’s because I’ve never bonded with my AGT12s or that I’ve been frustrated by their hair problems, but JLY/AGT12 is one of my least favorite Today Dolls. Therefore, I’d recommend her with some reservations. I prefer other dolls with blond hair and brown eyes. I actually ended up trading one of my AGT12s for a Kailey in 2004.

I also have #12 and I will admit she had hair problems. I had already bonded with her as my blonde haired Lily when I noticed she was balding in the back. I manager to find a fairly close to her original wig and rewigged her. Maybe I shouldn't post her as a #12 because of that but I don't know.

I have a #12 whose PM off ebay and I've had no issues with her hair. Though I don't think it compliments her light skin. Maybe if she had more brown in it? Hmm...I am not sure. But I rate this doll an A.

I have a PM 12 off of eBay as well. No issues with hair or anything else about her! I think she has a lot of charm. And as far as eye/hair combinations, the blonde haired brown eyed dolls that came after her are less unique IMO since she was first. I give her an A. The only thing taking away the plus is the typical PM stiffness of the hair which is to be expected to some degree.
Wendy spammage! ^It's just apple cidar, she swears
And as if that weren't all enough, here's a whole album full from her trip to the spa... in my bathroom.

My sister has a PM #12 named Amy, and she sheds horribly! I gave her a little trim to even things out, but her hair is really bad. I have a #20 and her hair is just fine, and we got them at the same time (1996).
I have a #12, Erin, that I got off of Ebay as well! She isn't PM, but very sweet. I love the brown/blond combo, it is so adorable! I've had no hair problems with her at all. Her hair is a lovely golden blond and very smooth and silky. I give this doll an A+, she is great!
