I think the dolls’ dolls are worth collecting and this one is no exception.
Kit’s aviator doll is one of my favorite pieces in Kit’s collection. I tend to favor pieces that are important to the stories. For those of you who are unfamiliar with Kit’s books, the doll was handmade by Ruthie and her mother and was given to Kit in Kit’s Surprise.
Like Kit, I’ve always been interesting in Amelia Earhart and her disappearance. That makes the doll even more appealing.
As many have mentioned, there are two versions of Kit’s doll. While both versions are nice, I prefer the original version with the removable coat and hat. It adds to the playability of the set. The jacket and hat on the newer version are not removable. The snap on the original jacket was replaced with embroidered ‘buttons’. However, the goggles can be shifted from her eyes to the top of her hat.

In addition to the clothing change, the newer doll has darker, less fluffy hair and is less squishy than the original. You may also notice a slight difference in the color and texture of the synthetic leather.
