I love my #23, Harper. I got her in the spring of 2006.
Definitely an A for playability and looks. (She looks like me - I'm not going to grade her lower than an A, guys! ;D ) The only thing keeping her from an A+ is I would like her wig to be a little thicker.
Here she is just after taking her out of the box (I returned her meet outfit since I had 2 already):
I love her hair. I do admit it is a little thin, but there is still enough to style so I don't really have a problem with it. I like that it is long enough to put in most styles, yet she doesn't have bangs... it just makes her different than my other JLYs. I don't have a problem with it flipping out all that much, but I think this can vary by doll. I usually try to finger-curl or brush it into a soft wave. I do like that the slight curl makes ponytails/braids/etc. look cute. It also has a good texture for styling; it's not that slippery/shiny. I love the highlights, which add depth to her hair color.
Here, I brushed her hair with a wet brush to define the curl a bit more.
Harper likes to double as Sara Crewe. I just scrunched up her hair and piled it on top of her shoulders to make it look like she has shorter hair with more curls. I suppose you could also curl it to get this effect... but I'm impatient and didn't want the more-permanent heat-set curls.
