I knew I had to get this dress the minute I saw it because I am a bit obsessed with
s - so the AG/angel combination was a must!
Dress - The fabric is very sparkly and I love the sleeves. The gathering makes them look slightly vintage or even medieval, which reminds me of the "classic" image of
s that evolved through paintings. The fabric is just downright weird. It looks nice from a distance but I was slightly disappointed AG would use a terry fabric for a costume, especially one that is supposed to be a fancy dress. Unless it's supposed to look like the doll made it out of (albeit sparkly) towels, I thought it made the outfit look... cheap? Not planned out? Project Runway project gone wrong? The fabric is very soft though and I thought it would at least be comfortable. The wings were made out of a surprisingly durable material. I was hoping they wouldn't be connected to the dress simply for storage purposes (and of course, mix and match!), but I really like them and was surprised. I'll give the dress a solid B- because I think the dress looks pretty, love the wings, but am weirded out by the fabric choice.
Shoes - I don't get the shoes because if you are going trick-or-treating (for a Halloween costume) or performing in a Christmas play, you need shoes you could actually walk around in and get dirty - not these all-white slippers! Still, they feel like they would be very comfortable, fit well and stay on the doll's feet. Grade: B
Headband - Made of sheer sparkly white ribbon. I like the bows coming down off the side. It fits around the doll's head perfectly though if you want your doll to wear it as a "halo" it's a bit hard to put on without messing up her hair (and looks weird over bangs), and honestly I would've liked one of those cheap costume halos just for the kitsch factor. It also looks great worn as a normal headband. IMO this is the most detailed part of the outfit, and my favorite part. Grade: A-
Overall Grade: B
