*original bed has been replaced (temporarily?) by yellow Bed & Bedding in February, 2013*
The Good: Molly's bed strongly resembles the pictures in the book and looks nice with the rest of her patriotic collection. There is plenty of room in the bed for Molly and it doesn't take up much space for storage. The candy cane striped trim really makes the bed stand out and is a cute detail. The pillow is made of the same candy came striped fabric as the trim, and is the perfect size for Molly. The old, wooden Pre-Mattel version of the bed is quite sturdy and doesn't come apart. However, we did lose one Molly bed when my toddler fell on top of it. I'm not sure about the new Mattel version. It is also quite neat that the screws are covered up by little corduroy covered buttons. Oh, this bed has a little bit of a nautical flair and works well for girl or boy dolls.
The Bad: I don't know what Pleasant or her designers were thinking when they made the bedding for this bed. The corduroy is "icky" feeling and the top of the bedspread Velcros to the mattress. Though it makes it easier for molly to make her bed, it looks kind of cheesy and Molly's hair sometimes sticks to the Velcro. the mattress is also quite thin, compared to the other girls' beds and doesn't have the same quality. Also, although the bed is easy to store, it only holds one doll and it doesn't fold down in anyway.
Overall, this bed is nice but isn't one of my favorite beds or Molly items. I probably wouldn't pay full price for this item.
