We were fortunate enough to get this trunk from eBay a year or so ago for well less than original cost.
I'm not a fan of the footlocker style, but since this was for my daughter's rapidly expanding Molly collection, what I thought didn't matter.
Our version is pre-1990 as the mirror is not attached. While the chrome is a little less than shiny, it is in amazing condition for its 18+ years.
The drawers are spacious and the shelves are quite useful for storage. The trunk is heavy and durable, although a little too cumbersome for my 8 year old to lug around on her own.
Here's a photo of Molly next to the trunk so you can see scale in relation to doll:
The best feature of all is the sliding clothes rod. It moves out for easier access to all the dresses we've crammed on there. As you can see, it holds quite a lot!
Aesthetics are always a matter of personal taste. I think Samantha's trunk is far prettier than this one, but that's just me. I'd give Molly's trunk a B grade for looks because it's just not my style...but very much her style, I'll admit that. The trunk's functionality is top rate and it gets an A+ grade from me for that.
As the previous reviewer noted, the trunks have come down in cost since when they were first retired. I wouldn't pay more than $100 for it myself (and I paid considerably less, but I got lucky) because shipping has to be a consideration. It's heavy, so it will not be cheap to send.
