I think these pictures have a pretty decent representation of the colors. I'm in the middle. I would have preferred them to be a more realistic color (black?) if they were supposed to be hockey skates. However, the colors are not totally gag-worthy to me.
I'm also confused about why she would own these. I got them because I wanted all the skating-related stuff in Mia's collection. My Mia doll, Cate, is a competitive skater, and she does have multiple pairs of (white/not pink!) figure skates besides her nice/expensive ones (the ones in her accessory set). Although Cate is competitive, she does go skating recreationally decently often with friends. My guess would be that she got them cheap somehow or they were given to her by someone sort-of clueless and these would be the type that she might bring on vacation if she knew they'd be going skating, but wasn't competing or practicing, so that she didn't have to worry about losing or damaging her other ones.
They also look somewhat like the rental skates I've used, so they could work for that too.
I don't find them that hard to get on. Mine must be looser - I do have to undo the velcro but I didn't have to unhook the elastic.
The guards stay on OK. I liked that the old ones had the hook in the back. However, they are decent and stick for photos, I just take them off before moving a doll or something like that, so I don't lose them.
I think the worth of this set depends on what you are after. I like that the skate bag comes with her accessories as I think someone who is a competitive skater would probably have that. If you are concerned about accuracy for a figure skater, I don't think these skates are the way to go. However, if you just need skates for your dolls who skate recreationally, or are more after cute colors, they are still well-made and these might be the skates for you.
Grade: B - for randomness/lack of accuracy, but still well-constructed
