I love this outfit, it's such a nice pop of color! I find that it actually looks very beautiful on Felicity, despite her hair being red. After spending years of pining for it, I purchased my set second hand on eBay complete with the apron pins for around fifty dollars. Now that I have seen it first hand, I'd probably pay even more for it due to the sheer quality of the ensemble.
This gown is different from the usual birthday dresses in that it looks very elegant and understated without the apron, as opposed to looking dull without it. When paired with the apron, it's a perfect combination of color and print that looks very refreshing. If you can't find a complete set, just the salmon pink gown on it's own looks just as beautiful. The construction is what is really impressive to me. The pleating on the sleeves, the full skirt, and materials are all top notch.
The skirt on this gown is actually much more full than the Christmas gown, and when worn with a pannier or many petticoats, it still has extra fabric left to drape! Very exciting.
The Apron is a thin cotton printed in a floral motif, and just adds a little something extra to what is already a very nice outfit. It is sturdily constructed, and could definitely withstand some playtime. The pompom is a simple bouquet of silk flowers that are gathered and tied to a thin double faced satin ribbon. Although not necessary to maintain the outfits look, it does add a nice touch. It's fairly delicate.
The socks are one of my favorite parts! They have a beautifully embroidered floral pattern on them, and are a delicate blue color!
Overall, this is a high quality outfit that has many interesting pieces and lots of play value. It also displays beautifully.
