For the first time ever, American Girl has ventured into their first mini-doll that was NOT for the Historical collections. Also, for the first time, American Girl Mini-Saige is to be sold only at booksellers and not at the AG Stores or at AG.com.
This pint-sized Girl of the Year was to debut on July 1st, but some shipping delays kept her from arriving at book store warehouses until mid-July.
Saige Mini Doll - $23.99
This 6-inch mini doll brings Saige's world to life on a smaller scale. She arrives wearing her indigo knit dress and tall boots inspired by her New Mexican home. Plus, she comes with a miniature abridged version of Saige, the first book about this spirited, creative girl who loves the arts.
First off, the miniature abridged book is paperback and not the hardcover volume that the Historical mini dolls come with. It contains the first four chapters of Saige's first book.
Mini Saige comes complete with her meet dress, light blue panties, and adorable boots! She does not come with pierced ears, but that could be easily remedied with a straight pin, I think.
She has the new blue eye color and tiny freckles. What an adorable little mini doll! I hope they make minis of all the future (and past) Girls of the Year! Grade A.

Mini Saige is adorable. She has beautiful auburn hair and her eyes are a very pretty shade of blue. Her eyebrows are feathered, just like 18" Saige's. I'm not particularly fond of the way her dress fits, but her boots are adorable. She comes wearing turquoise undies as well. I also love her little book. I like that it's paperback and not hardcover, so it looks more like the human-sized book. I've taken some comparison photos with mini Felicity. I think they look cute together.

I'm not a fan of the mini interpretation of the classic mold but mini Saige does look sort of cute (certainly not as creepy as the Kit and Caroline minis). The boots and embroidered belt are nice and detailed. She looks great displayed next to her big counterpart. I hope this item sells well so that there will be further releases of miniaturized GOTYs.

Mini Saige came in the mail earlier this week (before 2014 arrived) and she does not disappoint! I deboxed her the other evening just before bed and I couldn't help but marvel at how sweet she is.
Mini Saige has freckles just like 18" Saige. She doesn't have earrings (and I was kind of bummed about this) because but she does have nice freckles and the rope braid hairstyle.
Other things that mini Saige has are the adorably styled and very detailed riding boots and the colorful "woven" belt that looks like a friendship bracelet at the scale created for mini Saige to wear...
