This is a cute outfit, but it is somewhat lacking.
The top: it's very cute, but Violet would only ever wear it with the matching shorts. It just does not match any of my other pants (and I have several other pairs of athletic pants). The mesh is nice – a realistic aspect – but will get caught on the Velcro in my experience. B.
The shorts: they do look like something someone would wear in real life; they look like real running shorts. Like the top, though, they don't match much. I have paired them only with bright pink T-shirts so far. Also, while their design is realistic, it is the same from the 2010 running outfit, just with different colors. A-.
The jacket: this is one of my favorite aspects of the outfit. It is versatile; it does seem to match my dolls' various athletic ensembles just due to the lack of green. I love its appearance and use it frequently. The zipper is also very nice. I like how this jacket (as opposed to the 2010 version) seems to fit the dolls' arms better – the 2010 one always seemed a bit short in the arms to me. A+.
The socks: well, what can I say? They're socks. Nothing really special about them, just socks. As my dolls don't have a habit of wearing socks (yes, I'm sure their shoes must reek by now!) so they've only been used once. There is nothing memorable about them. B+.
The race number: same design as the 2010 outfit, which annoys me because when my dolls race, they have the same number! I feel like AG really should have come up with a different number for this one just because no two runners would have the same number in a race; that's the whole point of having numbers! I don't use it much anyway, but that only makes me use it less. B.
Hairbands: standard AG hairbands, nothing great about them. B+.
Shoes: These are one of my favorite pairs of AG shoes. My current tennis shoes look pretty much just like them (except considerably larger) so Alex, my lookalike, wears these on a daily basis. They match many outfits and are easy to use. A+.
Worth 34 dollars? It depends on how frequently you dress your dolls in athletic outfits. If that's not much, this is far from worth it. I do think that overall, the 2010 version was much better, especially because it had those great pants, which made the price seem fairly reasonable. But without long pants, this set seems overpriced. If you can find the old version at a decent price, I definitely recommend it over this one, but I would still recommend this outfit if you dress dolls in workout clothes much. I give this set a B+.
