Felicity Doll- Mattel w/ Traveling Gown
Pro's: Felicity is a beautiful doll, with lovely natural-colored hair and pretty pincurls.
Con's: Her outfit is a teensy bit cheesy. And, as for personal opinion, her eyes are a bit too bright.
Detailed Review: I received Felicity as a Christmas gift 2 years ago. I've always loved her stories, and was excited to get a Lissie of my very own!
For the outfit: My favorite part is the socks. They are so versatile and well-made. My least favorite part is the necklace. The necklace does not seem at all authentic, but I am no expert. It stretches as well as having a clasp, and is made of fabric. The coral necklace was probably more accurate. The dress is a bit chinsy. I loved the print and embroidery, but the fabric was this slippery-cheapy fabric. I was hoping for it to be cotton which would be more time-period correct. The shoes are nice too, very versatile with most of Felicity's everyday outfits... They look nice with her riding outfit and Rose Garden gown especially. I REALLY like the shift. I hated the elastic ones because they always got SO stretched out. If you're like me, the velcro is a lot better and longer-lasting! But, you've got to be careful to close it nicely so it doesn't get caught on anything.
Now... Onto the doll herself. Now, don't get me wrong, I really like Felicity, but her eyes are a bit too bright. They seem unnatural. However, they are quite pretty if you overlook that they seem very fake (they look almost like Felicity is wearing color contacts). Her hair is pretty and natural looking, but is more of an auburn color, not red. I don't like the bright red of the earlier dolls and I prefer this color. The best color, though, would be in-between, a little more red than this brownish one. Overall I would give Felicity an A-, mostly because of some of the outfit... and the bright eyes. However, if you really like her, don't hesitate to get her! You will love her!

This is the Felicity that we gave my mom for Mother's Day 2008. She's a beauty! Her dress is really nice; Elizabeth's is really thin but I like the texture and thickness of Felicity's, even though it's not that thick.
This is a Felicity from February 2009. Her face looks a little different than the one from about a year earlier. Her hair is extremely silky!

My dolls: Samantha, Isabelle (Nellie), Paris (Josefina), Amelia (Caroline), Hannah (#22), Emilie (Felicity), Kennedy (#47), Chelsie (#16), April (MT), Parker (MT), Hunter (MP), and Lily (GG).
I just got a Felicity doll, and I admit, I'm disappointed. I think I'd be a lot happier with a redhead Lissie, but it's so hard to tell from the pictures on eBay.
I have to admit though, she is beautiful. Because of her pincurls, she's one historical I can't bear to turn modern. I love her wig style so much, even though it isn't the color I was hoping for. And her eyes...wow. I thought Mia had the nicest green eyes, but Felicity's might be better.
A minus for her. I used to hate Felicity and Elizabeth, but since I got mine yesterday, I've fallen in love with her.
I got my Felicity on Christmas 2007. She does have extremely bright green eyes, but they don't really bother me. I love her wig, it is so soft and silky. The pin curls are adorable too, I''ve been keeping her hair in the ponytail so I don't lose them. The shift underneath, socks and shoes are pretty cute too. Shoes were a tiny but hard to put on, but once you get the hang of it, it's alright. I love her face colouring, pinky-peach lips and rosy cheeks. She's adorable.
I have the Rose Garden dress for Felicity, and I much prefer that to the traveling gown. I have no qualms about the quality of the traveling gown, it just doesn't agree with me aesthetically. It's still nice though. Great doll overall!

Felicity is a very lovely doll. Her hair is a beautiful shade of red.The pin curls do come out fairly easy but it's just as easy to get them back in using foam curlers. Her eyes are an bright green but that is part of the reason I like her so much. Her dress is made out of a thin fabric and at first I didn't like it because of that but she looks very good in purple.I give her an A+
Felicity: A- I got my Felicity from QVC. Her dress is like a windbreaker material, not what I expected at all! It's very slick and synthetic/plastic feeling. Her hair isn't as red as the PM Felicity's, it's pushing it to call my Lissie's hair auburn. It's a lot browner than I thought it would be. Her eyes are great in person. I like them a lot. I think they work well with her coloring. She has a very sweet face, and she's beautiful! My Felicity's legs are very loose, and she is brand new. Her limbs also have the new knots instead of ferrules and they click/pop when you move her arm up.
I got my Felicity, my newest doll, on June 25, 2009. She is adorable! Such a nice doll.
I like her hair and eyes. Even though AG has changed it, it works well with her. I like the bright green eyes and auburn hair as much as I like the bright red hair and muted green eyes. Felicity's pin curls are a little annoying at times, but they are worth it, as they set her apart from the rest and frame her face very nicely. Her wig is very nice - thick, a little wavy (but not hard to brush and style at all) and very soft. I love her hair! In some light it looks almost brown, though it usually looks nice and auburn.
Now her new meet dress is another story. I agree with the person who said it feels like wind-breaker material - it does! I would like it a lot more if it was made out of cotton or something - you know, like something a girl would actually wear in 1774. And lilac is not Felicity's best color at all and clashes with her hair and eyes. I do like the cut of the dress, though. The rose garden is much nicer on her, in my opinion, anyway. I did not get the accessories, as I never do. I always just go with the cheapest option :).
My Lissie's legs were fairly loose, too. I wonder why.
So: Doll: A (I never give an A+ because I don't think anything is perfect). Dress: D Overall (doll+dress): B In conclusion, Lissie is excellent but is best off in other attire.

I have the newer Felicity, which was bought for me in 2005. I think her eyes are actually very pretty; they don't bother me a bit. Her hair is more brown than red, possibly an auburn. It's still unique in its own way. Her face is very pretty, with nice coloring on her cheeks and lips. I think she looks gorgeous in both the traveling gown and the rose garden gown, so it's hard to choose which one I like better. The rose garden gown gives her a more laid-back, at home sort of look, while the traveling gown makes her seem like she's going somewhere or on an adventure. (Hence the name, "traveling" gown) (: Overall, I would definitely giver an A+

Okay, let's be honest, the meet outfit is fugly. It gets a D from me. The pattern is nice enough, so maybe if it was a different, softer fabric I could tolerate it more. But it just seems so fake and toy-ish. Admittedly AGs are toys but the company used to strive to make things realistic. This meet dress doesn't cut it.
The doll however, is precious. She looks younger than the rest of the historical girls for some reason, I think it's the eye-hair-face mould combo. But she's adorable and the eyes don't bug me. She looks great in everything...even that horrid new meet dress.
I love my Lissie!

First, I need to talk about the meet dress. I'm turning my Felicity modern, so I won't get a ton of use out of it. I don't really like the fabric, it feels very thin and flimsy, almost like plastic, as mentioned in other posts. I think it would be better if it were made of, maybe, cotton?
Otherwise, Felicity is one of the most beautiful dolls I own. Her bright green eyes are tied as my favourite with Ruthie's beautiful gray eyes. I actually don't mind the bright, intense firework pattern, I think it's very unique.
In comparison to my cousin's PM Lissie, I do like the Mattel ones better, sorry PM lovers. Her hair, I wish was darker, like the PM Lissie, but I love it all the same. It's softer and shinier than any of my other dolls, and her pincurls are adorable. They do look a tad odd when her hair is down, but you can work around that by pinning the very front up. It's very long, and I can do quite a lot with it. Overall, she is one of my favourite historicals, and I'm very upset she's being retired. Farewell, Felicity, ye will be missed!
Overall, I give her an A+. (Excluding the meet outfit.)

My Felicity got here today. I'm NOT impressed. She's going back. Her wig was dry, her eyes looked like stickers (I expected them to have more depth). And her pincurls on one side looked like they had gotten too hot or something (when the were made). Anyway. Not too happy.
"I love Los Angeles. I love Hollywood. They're beautiful. Everybody's plastic, but I love plastic. I want to be plastic." -Andy Warhol
I got my new Lissie over a month ago. I'm over all pleased with her.
Hair- Flawless. The wig is very thick like Elizabeth's and I love the color too. A little darker than the PM's but still pretty. Her hair is just too pretty to leave in a ponytail all the time, so there will be plenty of styling with her Grade A++++
Eyes- Very snappy green. More snappy than the PM's. I have to say though her eyes aren't that intense like I've seen on some photos here and there. I love them and it makes her look edgy LOL A-
Body- Her limbs aren't too tight. I'm not sure if this is a new thing but her head has a slight tilt to the right. I keep pushing her head to other side hoping it might just go away on its own but if not oh well. Grade A-
The dress- Was not expecting anything that great from it. After reading the reviews here I knew the dress wouldn't be that great of quality. I like the color and the patterns. The fabric should be cloth and not wind break material. Grade C
Pics to come soon!

just keep your eyes on her keep don't look away keep your eyes on her horizon
I got my Felicity for Christmas this year. I'm very pleased with her.
Hair- Felicity's hair is very thick, shiny, and long. Her hair comes in a ponytail with a white ribbon tied around it. It goes down to about right above her butt. I was disappointed that her hair wasn't that red, but I think it's perfect with her coloring just the way it is.
Eyes- Very pretty. I love the black lines in between the firecracker green. They're very distracting, and perhaps one of her best features, though they clash with the Holiday Outfit.
Body- Her limbs are very nice. Though, when you shake her (not mildly, but not too hard), her limbs rock back and forth. I'm assuming this is normal on all dolls.
Meet Outfit- I thought this dress would be cottony. It's not. It's a nasty-ish raincoat fabric. I love the dress, but American Girl could have done better on the quality. I love the shoes and socks. When you do not have her stockings on with the shoes, the shoes flop around and are loose on her feet.
Felicity: A+. She's stunning, and I am deeply saddened by her retirement.
Meet Outfit: B. It's not that well made, and the dress takes away from the awesomeness it could hold.

I got my Felicity for Christmas 2010. She's very pretty, despite being sort of different than I would imagine her. I'm not surprised by the auburn shade of her hair, but I like it more in person than I do in pictures. It's actually a pretty lovely color, even if it isn't the coppery red I imagine when I see the book illustrations. Unfortunately it is a little dry and prone to flyaways. Plus the pincurls make it a little harder to style in anything but the signature ponytail without it looking off. And my particular doll came with one very wonky pincurl. The eyes aren't as frightening in person as the look in pictures, but they're still rather unnatural. I did get used to them though... they don't look strange to me anymore.
I'm not fond of the meet dress, especially on her. The material, as most reviewers have mentioned, feels very synthetic and cheap. I would have preferred cotton. And I think the color clashes with her coloring, so I don't use it on Felicity much. (Interestingly enough, I rather like it on my #26.) I have the rose garden gown as well, and I greatly prefer it.

I received my Felicity doll this past Chanukah, as a gift from my mother. I have owned Felicity dolls before and to be honest much preferred the old Rose Garden Dress as her meet outfit, simply because it seemed to fit the time period more appropriately. This new dress is made of wind-breaker like material and IMO isn't as pretty. Unfortunately I have been on a "kick" these past couple of years, and my obsession has been owning all 26 dolls NIB. Thus, I had to trade up for the New Felicity doll, and could only afford her by selling my old one. (There are 26 dolls some of which are discontinued! I'm not made of money!!). It's to bad because before mattel took over these dolls used to be $84 a piece and much more affordable! None the less the doll is beautiful, and I lover her hair and pin curls! Her eyes are my favorite feature though, I love how bright green they are. Grade:A (can't give the + because of the gown)
I just got my felicity doll yesterday. I bought her rose garden original meet dress on ebay and like it so much more than the traveling gown. the material is so not historically correct at all. The doll herself i think is very nice the hair is a soft red, the eyes are alarming if you just focus on them alone but when you look at her as a whole she's lovely.
Yes, this is my Lissie! She's my childhood doll, so admittedly very special to me. I love her long auburn hair and green eyes. She's a darling and of course I love the stories too. The dress is not my favorite, just because of the material, but I do think the color looks gorgeous on her. Three girls for Felicity! Doll: A+++ Hair: A+ Outfit: A
I bought Mattel Felicity in June of 2010. I wanted her since I was little, and my mom finally let me get her. She was my first doll purchase since 2000. My first thought was: what happened to her rose garden dress? My second thought was: what happened to her eyes? My third thought: I thought her hair was red? After I got over Mattel shock, I started to like the new version of Felicity (although I prefer the older version.) The only thing I still don't like is the quality of her dress. It's like a windbreaker material. I'm pretty sure they didn't have that material in 1774. =) I was hoping it would be cotton. I give Mattel Felicity a B.

Felicity came home Christmas 2008. She is so adorable! She looks great in almost anything, and her eyes are so pretty, and her hair color is very unique. The only thing is her pincurls fall out easily, so try not to brush near them. Her meet outfit isn't my favorite, I like her other one better, but their is nothing wrong with it. I give Felicity an A-.

Felicity was my first doll I ever got, and she is so cute. I love her hair color, it's very shiny and feels soft. I wish she came with the Rose Garden dress, but I like the Traveling Gown just the same. I love the shoes she comes with, they look true to the time period and are nicely done. I wish that AG made Felicity with the new green eyes, or at least I think that it would be neat to see. She's also a really nice modern girl, she looks good in Saige's Sweater Outfit. I give my Felicity an A+++
I love my Felicity! I got a Pre-Mattel Felicity when I was a little girl in 1995 or 96, but when I was older she was sold in a garage sale. I bought a Mattel Felicity myself to replace my original in the 2000's and still have her! While I think her purple dress feels and looks kind of cheap, I think the doll itself has a prettier, less chubby face. I like her vibrant green eyes and the shade of her hair. I still have my original rose garden dress, so Mattel Felicity wears that instead of the purple one.
