This item was released in 2014 and retired in 2019.Julie’s sleepover fun has just begun with this groovy set! An authentic yellow ’70s rotary phone with a dial that really turns, A pretend layered gelatin treat in a fancy parfait glass, Faux celery sticks with peanut butter, Make-believe Jiffy Pop® popcorn, Three pretend deviled eggs, A drinking glass with a cute owl design, Two plates in sunny flower-shaped holders, A pair of hugging monkeys.Julie’s sleepover fun has just begun with this groovy set! $50 My only complaint about this set is that if it for a sleepover, why is there only one drink? I would have skipped the Jello and added a drink, there are two plates. The food is clumped together. I remember these plate holders from the 1970s, they were so goofy! My Gramma had this phone in pink (she was one cool lady!) The dial really works. The drink and the Jello: The Jiffy pop is the same as the old set. The old one is on your left and the new one is on your right. The hugging monkeys are adorable!!! I had these in the late 1970s and their names were Mork and Mindy. There hands have Velcro and they come apart and can be posed in different ways.

Julie's Snack Set (debuted August, 2014) Item# BKD67 $50
Julie’s sleepover fun has just begun with this groovy set!
An authentic yellow ’70s rotary phone with a dial that really turns A pretend layered gelatin treat in a fancy parfait glass Faux celery sticks with peanut butter Make-believe Jiffy Pop® popcorn Three pretend deviled eggs A drinking glass with a cute owl design Two plates in sunny flower-shaped holders A pair of hugging monkeys
I finally broke down and purchased this set. I really didn't want another Jiffy-Pop (and you'll notice that I even forgot to put it in the photos!) And although the hugging monkeys are cute, they weren't something I thought my Julie needed. HOWEVER, the yellow telephone and paper plates with holders finally convinced me that Julie would like these in her room. I took these items upstairs to the dolls' room only to remember that Julie was hanging out downstairs in Samantha's Ice Cream Parlor! I'm not one to run back downstairs on a whim, so Ivy got to model the new food-stuffs: This set is very well made! The dial on the phone actually rotates and springs back to place -- just like the old rotary dials! It does not make any sound though. I wish the eggs and celery were separate and may try to separate those. I'll update with photos if that works out. My favorite part is the paper (although they are thin, sturdy plastic!) plates and flower shaped plate holders! I love that they are separate and that the plates can come out. The jello-parfait is cute (needs a spoon!) and the kool-aid in the owl cup is very 70's. Again, the monkeys are cute and all, but the food stuff takes the cake (pun?) around here! Grade B+ (no A because I wish they hadn't include another Jiffy Pop!)

Rotary Phone – A+This obnoxiously yellow rotary phone comes with a working rotary. The handset is attached via a cord, so you can have your doll play telephone if you want. The colour is bright, but I recall seeing one of these in my mum’s toys from the 70s, so I love it for nostalgia reasons alone. The phone, one of the plates and holders, and celery with peanut butter. Plates and Holders – A+The plates are doll-sized paper plates, so be careful with them. The holders are delightfully goofy – plastic flowers that are perfectly sized to hold the plates. I can’t speak for the accuracy of this one, but I like them! A closer look at the plate/holder and the celery snack. Food/Drinks – A+Like most AG food, these pieces are clumped together, but I’m ok with that at this point. We have celery sticks with peanut butter, deviled eggs, a bag of Jiffy Pop popcorn, a glass of iced tea, and a gelatin dessert in a glass. There are a good number of pieces involved and they’re nicely detailed. I especially like the Jiffy Pop popcorn as a nice period touch. The second plate/holder, drink, and the deviled eggs. Per mum "Yuck, that dog's going to be so gassy!" :-P Jiffypop, gelatin, and stuffed monkeys. Monkeys – A+Cute stuffed hugging monkeys! They’re small-sized versions of real toys that I’ve seen, so I’m happy with them. Their hands are held together with Velcro, so they can be separated. Good Value? This was a Christmas gift for me, but it looks like it retailed for $50. I’m actually not sure this is a great deal, even with all the pieces it comes with. I like the pieces as a set and as individual items, but $50 seems a bit steep for what you get. $40 or even $35 sounds a bit more fair in my opinion. Overall – A+This set was a surprise to me. My husband…or, excuse me, Ded Moroz (Russian Father Christmas) left this under the tree a few years ago. It hadn’t been on my radar, but I ended up loving it as a fun addition to Peggy’s collection. The pieces are a lot of fun and have a lot of play value. Had I personally paid the full amount for it, I might have been a little more disappointed, but it as a gift, I really love it.

I managed to find just the phone for sale. The phone has a dial that really turns. It's perfect for my 1980's girl.
