From 1995-2007, American Girl had a light skinned girl with dark brown hair and light blue eyes. She was so named #14. In the fall of 2007, the powers to be decreed that #14 or sell better with a lighter wig, "wispy" bangs and long and confusing name. This is a picture of her from Playthings in 1996.
The new and improved flavor JLY # F7031
Now it is my turn.
Even though Saffron Lucy Stone Harrison was more of an impulse than my other dolls I’m glad that I bought her. The doll’s expression had a lot of personality and she can play a sweet girly girl or a mischievous little imp. The best part about the doll is her hair. Her hair is much more lighter than old-school wigs. I don't agree that it is thiner nor to I think that it is layered.
She has a part that appears natural.
Her bangs are lighter and and be bushed aside with aid of bobby pins.
Her hair can be separated so when her hair is braid or put in pigtails there is no bald patches.
Of all my dolls, I like #14's hair the best. Front
Unlike #16, #14's bangs are not uneven, they are also lighter, easier to work with and to me more natural.
#14's part looks like a part.
Unlike #23, #14's is not as thin. As well, her hair seems better wigged. For example, if not brushed right #23's hair can show bold spots. #23's part also has an odd bump to them. I never worry about #14's hair.
#14's hair is a dark shade of brown, very nearly black depending on the light.
This is my personal opinion but I am in love with #14's face. To me she looks so innocent compared to other dolls. Her face naturally looks down with a little "who me?" look. She is my most photogenic dolls and appears in my reviews. My only compliant is that her bangs are not as "wispy" as American Girl brags. It would be nice if they could be easier brushed aside but that is probably just being a doll wig. She can pass for a little girl as well as a nine-twelve year old. For her easily hair and sweet little face I give her an A.

I got #14 for Christmas and I'm very pleased with her! Every time I look at her I feel like picking her up and taking pictures of her. Her hair appears to look almost black in some shades of lighting, but in others, you can see a very rich multi-tonal dark brown. I was kind of surprised with her hair's length-- I was thinking it'd be longer. So far, when I brush it, it likes to flip out to the sides just below her shoulders. Combined with her full bangs, it almost gives off a retro look, which I just love. Her blue eyes complement her look superbly.
It seems like #14 (along with the other banged dolls) tends to be a bit over-shadowed by the newer JLY dolls, which is too bad-- she really is a beauty! To anyone considering getting her, I'd say go ahead. I love how her bangs are thinner while still covering her forehead, unlike my sister's Samantha doll, who has rather chunky bangs. With all that said, I still do wish her hair was just a little bit longer, so for that I'll give #14 an A-.

I was skittish about the #14 I bought from member katieshc at first, didn't know what to do with her since I really wanted a PM #14 to be a character I've had in mind for years, but boy have I warmed up to her. She looks good in ANYTHING.
Here is Marie-Antoinette (#14) in Kit's Christmas dress. Red is STUNNING on her!
The only thing I'm not a fan of is the way her hair flips out at the end. It's the one thing that bothered me about #23 as well. Other than that, though, she is an absolute beauty! If you're on the fence, get her before she's gone!
I just got my #14 today! She has such a sweet face! I love her to pieces.
Her hair color is beautiful and in some lighting it's black, others it's dark brown. It's much shorter than I thought though, and it is layered. I'm a little upset, but hopefully it won't be too much of a problem! Her eyes are a pretty periwinkle blue and I love them.
She just arrived yesterday. After thinking she was my package, I ripped her open to find that she's my step-sister's Christmas doll. She is so cute! She had very wild bangs in the box. (After taking the cover off and finger brushing them down, they're fine now!) Her hair arrived in a side-pony tail style. I warned my family that it would leave a slight dent in her hair. Also, I told them about her flip. Which, since my stepsister is only 6, shouldn't be a problem since she only wanted to be like me and will want me to care for the doll.
I felt her hair, and it was not as soft as my #25's hair. It seemed very thick (sigh of relief), but also tangly. It took so much will power to not remover her and give her hair a good brushing.
This doll is very pretty. Her light blue eyes are mesmerizing. Since I did not remove her from the box, I am unaware of the length of the hair.

Love this doll!
I got my Zuzu in September of 2012, and she is absolutely adorable! I have a few of the MyAGs with bangs, but she was my first with the revised style of bangs, so I wasn't sure what to expect. Zuzu's wig is a pleasant surprise! It's thick, smooth and soft, shiny, and a playable length. I'm not great with layered hair, but the layers on hers are very subtle, so it hasn't as yet presented a problem. My only complaint would be that her bangs are a tad thin and not as neat as the older style of bangs, but that's minor.
I love her hair color and eye color. The hair is much darker in person than the stock photos show, and the blue of her eyes is so intense and pretty. The contrast in her hair and eyes makes her look so lovely.
Definite A!! Would recommend this beauty to anyone who is considering her!
