Grace's Welcome Gifts
Grace’s family in France welcomes her to Paris with these sweet presents:
A box of faux macarons
An Eiffel Tower cookie bag from her aunt’s bakery
A bouquet of pretend flowers wrapped in polka-dotted paper
Three Paris postcards for her to send back home
A pink felt beret with an embroidered heart and sequin details
I bought Grace's Welcome Gifts because I wanted her pink beret--and I really do like the beret on Grace. However, the rest of the accessories were underwhelming.
It initially looks like a lot of items, but in many ways, the bang for the buck is missing.
Flowers are nice, but other than a "welcome scene," they can not be taken out and displayed in a vase without messing up the paper wrapper.
Okay, the Eiffel Tower cookie is terrific and quite cute. The cookie is a hard plastic and is quite sturdy.
Postcards are delightfully realistic, but could be made as a papercraft project.
Note the error! Grace is from Bentwick, Massachusetts, not from Bentwick, Rhode Island!
The box holding the macarons initially seemed to be sturdy, but the glossy paper stock it was made with is showing wear on the corners and creases after just moments of being handled.
The macarons are one giant piece of painted plastic. No added play value here.
I love the embroidered heart and sequin detail. The beret really does save this show.
Great beret and cute Eiffel Tower cookie. The rest of the paper goods will hardly survive any vigorous play. This set is simply not worth $32 dollar. I wish AG would have offered the beret plus cookie for a sweet $12 and skipped the rest of this Welcome Gift Set.
Overall grade: B (only because of the beret--the rest of the set sans the darling cookie is a D)
