This is the purple (periwinkle?) skirt outfit that was available starting in January 2006 through the AG club. It comes with a hooded tee-shirt, purple skirt, red headband, purple purse, and red shoes.
I've loved this outfit since I first saw it, especially for the red beaded shoes. Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to show up with those shoes very often for a decent price on eBay! I ended up purchasing the complete outfit for $39 and though that's probably a bit overpriced, I'm quite satisfied with what I got.
My photos show the color as a less purple than it truly is. I feel that the 'periwinkle' description is off. I'd call it lavender or something - it's definitely a LOT more purple than the periwinkle in the 2007 JLY meet outfit!
All together, I think the outfit is really cute, and it has the benefit of being good pieces for mixing and matching. (Note that I've removed most of the Club logo on the skirt - I didn't like it at all, but it hasn't been too difficult to remove.)
The t-shirt fits kind of oddly, though. It's a little long and a little tight, so it wants to have this funny rumpled look. This might be because of the zipper in the back, or the band on the bottom. At any rate, it took a bit of fighting for it to fit neatly.
The logo on the front of the shirt is printed on quite well, and the light purple rhinestones seem to be firmly attached, too. The pocket is an actual pocket where you can stick things (but obviously not the doll's hands!).
The skirt is a soft, stretchy cotton. The little ribbon at the waist is just there for show - it ties around a little hole thing, but the waistband itself has elastic in it. I love this skirt a lot more than I thought I would, especially now that I've removed most of the logo!
Here is the shirt with jeans on a medium skin tone doll, for comparison's sake. You can see how the zipper goes all the way up the hood in back. It's a nice alternative to the way the hoodie with the Adventure outfit works! I found that you can either put the hood over the doll's head, then her arms through the armholes, or do it the other way around. It's easy to get on and off.
The shoes are slides without anything behind the heel, but they fit really well. I didn't have any trouble with them falling off once I put them on, and I'd been moving Marelise around quite a bit fixing her hair and shirt and so on. In fact, she'd been moved to the floor for the photos of Beatrice and then back up again and no falling off at all. Fantastic shoes!
I love this bag. I didn't think I would, but it's so fun and the details are unique. It's made mostly of two pieces - a front and a back - and has a strap for each. It doesn't seem like it would hold a lot, but I still like it more than most of the JLY/AGT meet purses.
The headband is red fabric in a circle with elastic at the base and two tails. It's meant to look like a red ribbon or scarf or something was tied around the doll's head when worn. There's plenty of stretch in it and it fits quite well. I like the way the tails are attached - the Adventure outfit has a similar headband, but the tails are positioned differently and look kind of odd when the headband is worn.
Overall, I highly recommend trying to find this outfit complete. The pieces are really fun and somewhat unique for the JLY line. And the shoes are awesome.
