Overall Grade: B+ (Mattel Version, 2007) This is a darling set that coordinates well with Molly's Party Treats. It gets a B+ because it does not seem very unique to me. The design does not differ from other standard doll tea sets you could get at Target or Walmart. Pleasant Company versionI picked this up last Sunday from the wonderful young lady that I purchased some of Felicity's things from last summer. It's a really wonderful set and even though we don't have the Mattel set for a side-by-side comparison, I think DD prefers this one anyway.  This set came with a tea pot and lid, sugar, creamer, tablecloth, and 2 of each: tea cups, saucers, plates, forks, knives, spoons and the napkins in red with tulip style flowers (stems are blue, blossoms are yellow). Each piece is well made, and is a bit heavier than some little girl tea sets of today (not all, but some). The pattern on the pieces is adorable, the colors are vibrant and very pretty. The handles on the utensils are not too heavy but are a nice touch for a child's/doll's tea set! One of the things we prefer about this set is the tablecloth and the 2 napkins. The tablecloth is not thin at all and even though the napkins don't match (as they do on the Mattel version) we think they add a touch of whimsy to the set.  The 2 large plates have the Pleasant Company logo on the bottom (I'll add photos of those once I can get a good one in daylight). Overall we give the whole set a grade of A.

Mattel versionI really like this set a lot... I really thought I'd missed out on it completely when it "sold out" on the website right before Christmas. I was kind of kicking myself about it (especially when the prices skyrocketed on Ebay), since we have the rest of Molly's table set, so I sent my PS an email, and she was able to locate a set for me. I think the above review is very accurate, so I will only add my photos. However, I would grade this set with an A - I love how this Tea Set is replicated from a real set, so that makes it unique to me.   D~

Pleasant Company version
I got a used, nearly complete set off Ebay not too long ago. I'd been dreaming of owning this tea set for over 15 years and was not disappointed. Everything feels very sturdy and durable even though it's made from China. I didn't get the napkins so I can't comment on those. Part of the red stripe on the tablecloth I received has bleed on to the white. So be careful if you ever want to wash it. It may come out pink!

I have the older Pleasant Co set. I just checked and the cutlery has the gold sticker which says Made in Taiwan for Pleasant Company. The bottom of my teapot also has the gold sticker that says Made in Taiwan. The two larger plates are each marked Pleasant Company.
I imagine when Mattel bought AG, they made changes to where the set is made.

Many of the earliest accessories and furniture did not have “Pleasant Company” markings or stickers. Instead, a number of these early pieces have the manufacturer’s markings or labels (like Authentic Models or Silvestri).
In my opinion, the set immediately above was purchased somewhere between mid-1987 and early-1989. It’s slightly different from my first set, which I received 7/23/89. Mine has, or in one case had, “Made in Japan” stickers on the plates and the tablecloth has a Pleasant Company tag. However, if I remember correctly, one of my sisters has a set with the same labels and markings as yours. She received it in July of 1988.
Overall, the tea set cups are similar across editions but not the same. The newer china is thicker than the earlier pieces. Additionally, the pattern on current sets brighter and bolder than it used to be.
The set on the left was purchased in January of 2009 and I believe the cups on the right are from my 1989 set (However, it's possible that they’re from my 1993 or 1995 sets). I should have labeled those pictures.

Revised 2011 Version (#V6004 $68) -
This complete tea set includes everything she needs to plan her party:
* A pretend chocolate cake with fancy frosting and ten removable candles
* Red and white china in a cheery 1940s-style flower pattern
* Plus, a real china teapot; two cups and saucers; two plates; two knives, forks, and spoons; and two colorful cloth napkins
As you can see the set no longer includes the tablecloth, creamer or sugar bowel. The only item to survive the Birthday Treats set were the cake and candles.
The previous reviews are still accurate as to the quality and design of the revised set. I was pleasantly surprised to find the flatware handles were still ceramic rather than plastic. The china is heavy enough to stand up to careful play. Overall the set is pricey but I'm very pleased with it. Overall Grade B+
