This item was introduced in 2015 and retired in 2018.This outfit is perfect for Maryellen's school days! Just like many outfits for girls in the 1950s, it includes: A purple gingham dress featuring a mock blouse with a Peter Pan collar and black necktie, three button accents, and a black sash A black headband with a bow to hold back her hair White bobby socks Black Mary Jane shoes So cute! I knew I was buying this outfit as soon as it turned up on the gray market. It's just too cute for words. I normally don't like cutting the tags off my AG things, but that one has got to go! I debated over getting this dress or not for a while. But I'm glad I did. The style is classic, It looks good on many dolls(My Molly and Kit have been in it) but does look distinctly 50s as well. It seems like a nice cotton with little white stitches on every other square. The purple is a lovely shade that looks good on many dolls. The Maryjanes and socks are, Well maryjanes and socks. Useful but nothing special. The headband is cute but that tag just makes my head itch. Overall I give it a A+

Its a very cute outfit, I love the bright purple shade. Maybe my Maryellen is a bit chubby, it closes fine on her, but Maryellen won't be able to eat lunch at school when she wears it LOL. The material has a nice texture but I find it thin, perhaps it's part of the accuracy of the dress? LOL According to her stories, she inherits a school dress from Joan and Caroline (her older sisters), and the dress is cute but a bit worn. Of course I'm just kidding, but since the bangs are accurate and the saddle shoes are also tight, I thought maybe.... So overall it's a sweet dress. But it's $32... And it has the bad, snagging velcro, which will damage Maryellen's panties if you're not careful!!! http://instagram.com/p/BMwxS7XAjLF

I ordered this from a board member here and it came without a headband (which I purposely omitted as I am not that up to using one that has an obnoxious tag sticking out). The dress looks 'swell on Maryellen, coupled with Molly's round glasses: I know this isn't that much of an issue to some, but my biggest nitpick is the lack of (faux) buckles on the Mary Jane shoes. It ain't like a piece of chrome-plated plastic to serve as a buckle would cost them too much, so I think it's a bit of a cop-out on their part. Same went for BF Kit's meet shoes, but I digress. Haven't tested the dress on Kit or Molly yet, but I bet they look just as cute in it as well, though my PM Molly would certainly struggle at wearing such a small dress lol. And yes, the velcro at the back of the dress should've been changed to that of the no-snag variety. As @ Priscilla can attest, the hooks can and will snag at anything in its path (panties, body/torso, whatever) so be careful when dressing your doll up with this. Makes me wonder why the factory who made these outfits opted for no-snag velcro on the shoe straps but not the dress itself. :/ 8/10

I think this dress is really cute! As others have noted, it’s made of a lightweight gingham. It seems like it would be nice and cool, even on a warm day. The colors look nice on many different dolls, and I like how the black details stand out against the purple and white. There are three black buttons and some black piping on the front of the bodice, a black bow peeking out under the Peter Pan collar, black trim on the skirt, and a black grosgrain sash. The sash is sewn all along the waist, and it’s “tied in a bow” on the back (but really the bow is sewn on one side and the dress has a Velcro strip up the back. The fabric design matches up reasonably well on the back once it’s closed, which I always appreciate. The outfit comes with shiny black Mary Janes and white bobby socks that are already folded down. Once the obnoxious tag is removed from the headband, it’s super cute. I like the bow on the headband and it fits well. All in all, I give this outfit an A.

A friend got this with her Maryellen doll. This is such a classic looking little girl's dress. The purple gingham with black trim is so cute and what could be more iconic than white socks and maryjanes.
