Maryellen is ready for fun in the Florida sun with this cheery outfit! It includes: A white tip with slits at the sides, red gingham trim, and cherries embroidered on the left chest Dark denim capri pants with white contrast stitching and button details A red gingham kerchief to add flair to her hair White shoes with cherry embroidery - the perfect choice for sunny weather SKU #CMC44 $28.00 I was very happy to get this outfit, minus the shoes, from another board member! I think it’s a fun summer outfit that can also be worn in more modern times. The shirt is a crisp white cotton that looks cool and comfortable. It’s sleeveless but thankfully covers the vinyl/fabric transition where the doll’s arms meet her body, and the slits on the sides and the thin fabric (sheer enough to see the faint outlines of seams and labels underneath) help add to summertime feel. The red gingham trim and embroidered cherries give it a fresh, cheerful look. It closes with a strip of Velcro up the front, and as much as I like real, functional buttons, I also appreciate the ease of the Velcro on this piece. Grade:A The denim capri pants are easy to pull on and off, as they’re roomy and have a simple gathered waist all around. I’m including photos of the shirt tucked in just to show the pants more clearly, but of course it’s much cuter with the shirt untucked! The white contrast stitching suggest pockets (there aren’t any) and perhaps a button closure at the calf (the buttons are there but the rest is an illusion). I think that although the capri pants don’t hold much appeal or value on their own, they complement the shirt really well. Grade:C The red gingham kerchief is a fun touch. Maryellen is usually shown with this tied around her ponytail, but it was easily long enough to double knot and turn into more of a headband for Gabriela. Grade:A As noted, I didn’t purchase the shoes for this outfit. They’re white flats with cherry embroidery that matches the shirt, which seem cute but kind of outfit-specific, and I only have room for so many AG shoes. Overall, I give this outfit an A for being a fun, easy, cool, and crisp summertime option that doesn’t cost too much, even on the secondary market. (And Gabriela gives the outfit an A for protecting her from skinned knees as she learns to roller skate!)
