Melody's Bedroom Accessories
Item #DKH86 $45
Melody keeps some of her favorite treasures in her bedroom: An adorable stuffed elephant to cuddle, a mini version of the book The Secret Garden, a 1960s-style radio that really works; it features tuning knobs and an antenna, a flyer and sticker from the Freedom March, and a music poster.
Requires 3 AAA batteries
This is an adorable, albeit expensive set. The true star of the set is definitely the bright green radio. I don't have batteries for it yet, but it has all of the parts needed for it to be a real radio, including the fragile black antenna attached to the back, a volume knob, and a frequency turning knob.
The stuffed elephant is the cutest part of this set in my opinion. It is plush with a giant orange yellow ribbon that matches Melody's bedspread. It of course comes with the long tag.
If you are a sucker for tiny books like I am, The Secret Garden is a great addition to any doll sized library. The print inside is really small but does have black and white pictures at the beginning of each chapter.
And last but not least are the paper products of this set. I feel like they cheapen the set a little, but I wouldn't have Melody's bedroom set up without posters like these. Maybe they should have added one more, maybe of a famous singer at the time? All all relevant to Melody's story though.
Grade: A- This was a tough one. The price is a little high for the set in my personal opinion and I would have waited for this set to go on sale if it hadn't been bundled right at the beginning of Melody's release. Between the book and the elephant though, it was worth it. I might bump that up to an A if I can find batteries and see if the radio actually works.
