This item was released in 2017 and retired in 2019. It was part of her second basketball collection, which also included her Basketball Accessories. The first collection was sold 2007 to 2009 and included Julie's Hoops Outfit & Accessories and the School Bleachers); the third collection was released in February 2020 and included her Home Game Uniform (retired November 2023), Home Game Accessories, and Basketball Court.
Julie’s ready to get out on the court and take on the competition in her team’s basketball uniform. It includes: A sleeveless tank top with Julie’s number and team name (Go, Jaguars!), A matching pair of shorts with an elastic waistband, A pair of knee-high tube socks with stripes representing the team’s colors, White shoes with navy stripes and laces, A basketball, Two yarn hair ties.
This is a great outfit. I saw it at AG Vancouver and I had to have it. The styling is all 70s from the long tube socks, the addidas-style shoes, to the itty- bitty basketball shorts. The colours are fun and thankfully not girly, which is in line with Julie's efforts to promote girls school sports.
The material is nice and thick, but so is the Velcro, so I would encourage careful handling to prevent pilling around the back of her shirt. The Velcro goes farther down the shirt than I have seen on recent TM outfits, and I am very pleased about it. I love the green and white trim around the edges of the outfit.
As I mentioned it comes with socks! Hint, hint AG, I love outfits that come with socks. They are long tube socks and have stripes that match the colours of her uniform. Adorable. The shoes are great, they go on fairly easily, but not so easily that you'd have to worry about losing them. AG actually had a great idea here; the shoes come with realistic looking laces, but they are permanently tied. Hence no lost shoes.
The basketball is standard AG. It is plastic but has a nice weight to it and I like that it fits perfectly under Julie's arm so she can hold it.
Finally, the hair ties. They are exactly what I remember my mother tying my hair with; long pieces of yarn. In this case they are attached to hair ties, which is a good idea because the yarn can come unravelled. In fact I had to re-twist one hair tie right out of the box. For this reason I wouldn't recommend the hair ties for very young girls. They are extremely cute and realistic however.
Overall: A+
