I bought this and will be returning it...the quality is very poor. I might take it out of the box one last time before returning it for pics...if so I will post them this weekend some time.
The case is a big huge hunk of plastic. So far as I can tell, there is no metal at all. The black part is made of the same poor quality scratch-prone plastic as Isabelle's makeup case. The non-shiny parts that aren't black are plastic and they look plastic. The shiny bits are plastic with the same tacky chrome paint as Tenney's banjo and Gabriela's tap shoes. Passable on shoes and banjos, but for a case that has to be stored and exposed to the elements, this is just unacceptable. I expect that had I kept it, it would have chipped and looked bad within mere months. The shelf is cheap plastic lined with that short fuzz you find on cheap toys at Wal-Mart and Target. The compartment on the lid on mine wasn't even glued to the edges. It is a cheap fabric and the stitching is marled, uneven and tacky looking. It looks cheap and awful. When I opened the box one time, the llid popped right off. This thing doesn't even have hinges. The lid is held to the case with little plastic nubs on each side. Again, poorly made, looks cheap, and is cheap. It's only positive mark is it has wheels that actually work. They even have plastic casters. Grade: F
drums thick molded plastic, with four painted bits. The pink painted bit on mine was scuffed. These have a heft to them. But they're still molded plastic and nothing more. Grade: D
drumsticks these don't look realistic at all, they're plastic they do have handles so the dolls can hold them and they look awesome in Tenney's hands, but they're cheap looking and tacky. Grade: D
microphone ironically the only item that looks good in this set. It swivels, it looks realistic. It is plastic, but well made. This hunk of plastic is like Z's camera set. Nicely made. Grade: A
laptop Even this is disappointing. I was hoping for at least the same level of quality as Lanie's laptop but nope. The hole thing looks like fused plastic. The plastic isn't even uniformly the same color - there is weird coloring going on in my set. The cord comes in and out of the laptop. It attaches to nothing. I don't know why it is there. The laptop also looks chunky compared to Lanie's laptop from 2010. Grade: D
slides there are three reversible paper (thick paper) slides that can be put in the laptop, depicting various Gabriella things. They're used the same way as the slides from Z's items. Grade: B
headphones these are plastic, but thick, massive and well-built. They fit on the doll's head nicely. People complain that Gabriela was rushed through and that Tenney was the doll to originally have some of the things in Gabby's collection. Here though it is Z you find: on the pamphlet for how to use the headphones, there is a prototype of Z modeling how to put them on the head of a doll. Gabby doesn't model her own headphones. Its a small thing, but I've never seen an item designed for a character doll that doesn't have the character doll it was designed for demonstrating or modeling it. It's yet more proof that Gabby was rushed through. Grade: B
In her spare time, Z likes to model Gabriela's things.
stickers nothing to see here: standard AG stickers, meant to decorate the awful hunk of plastic AG calls a performance case. Grade: B
Overall grade: D For $48 the quality is truly appalling. I find Z modeling Gabriela's headphones tacky, not to mention proof that Tenney and Z were planned and Gabriela was more of an afterthought, and turned into the GOTY later on.
edited to remove dead image links. At this time I have not found a new image service and don't have the time to re-upload everything.
