Released in 2008, retired in 2011.
Ruthie saves this outfit just for playing outdoors. Her pique-knit top pairs nicely with her tan knickers, patterned knee socks, and two-tone oxford shoes. A matching felted hat trimmed with ribbon and flowers shades her face from the sun.Play Outfit Grade: A I wasn't sure if I would like this in person, but it looks really cute on Ruthie. The top and ribbon on the hat are a dark periwinkle color that was hard to capture on film. The hat is a thick felt with three flowers and a ribbon. It looks adorable on Ruthie, but isn't very sturdy. The top is designed to look like a sweater over a striped shirt with small flowers. It is one piece and velcros down the back. The shorts are khaki with elastic in the back. The leather-like belt is only in the front and is not adjustable. Personally, the shorts were my least favorite piece, and I would probably make a skirt to go with this outfit. Off-white socks and cream and khaki shoes with laces are included with this outfit.

Grade: A
I was immediately taken with this outfit online, and like it even better in person. Quality-wise, many pieces in this outfit seem better than recent Mattel efforts.
Socks: The socks are thick! No nylon type material here. Perhaps because it's a play outfit? Either way, these feel nice and I don't feel like I'm going to snag them with a hangnail.
Khakis: Thick material, just like mine! I do wish that the "belt" went all the way around and was a little more substantial, but it's cute. The elastic was a little tight around Kit's calves (I don't have Ruthie) but I got it up with a little tugging.
Shirt: Feels like it's made out of the material that lots of polos are made out of (pique?), with the cotton sewn at the collar and the sleeves. It's truly adorable, and is a great color on Kit - a periwinkle/violet.
Shoes: They are okay. The styling is nice, but I didn't detect much of a left/right differential, as has been present in other shoes. The soles are a little funky, rather soft, and I found the sides a little soft and, therefore, hard to get on over her heels. The laces are long and easy to tie.
Hat: The hat is pretty, but I wonder how long it will hold up, as it is just felt. I like the ribbon and flower detail. The gold AG sticker was attached to the outside ribbon, so I took it off and stuck it to the inside of the hat.
Overall, I really like this outfit. I am happy that I got a complete outfit for the price. I wanted Kit to have another option that wasn't a dress aside from her baseball outfit, and this looks great on her!

The hat is my favourite part. I cannot exclaim in words how much I love the hat. As for the rest of the outfit, it's cute, but finicky. If you want to tuck in the shirt, then you can't tuck in the socks. Oh well.

I recently purchased this outfit from another board member, and I adore it! The top is a nice thick cotton piqué knit. In some pictures it looks kind of blue or periwinkle, but in real life I think it’s more of a lavender shade. This is made to look like a vest with a short-sleeved shirt underneath, but it’s actually all one piece. The undershirt is made of white woven cotton with a pattern of lavender-colored pinstripes and little flowers. The sleeves are cuffed and the Peter Pan collar is adorned with a decorative grosgrain ribbon that’s sewn into a bow. The whole thing closes with Velcro up the back. The khaki twill knickers have an elastic back and a faux belt in the front, complete with belt buckle. You can see in the photos how the belt is sewn into the side seams. The knickers have plenty of room, even for the bigger-bodied PC girls. I wish there were pockets, as the knickers are certainly roomy enough to stash things in while playing outside, but really they’re well made even without pockets. They’re gathered at the bottom just below the knee. The knee socks are off-white and ribbed with a little pattern in them. These seemed well made and didn’t seem like they would unravel or fray too easily. I thought the shoes fit well over them, too. The shoes are two-toned Oxfords, off-white and tan, with tan laces. They have stitching on the sides, a small heel piece, and no grommets. Finally, the outfit is topped off with a cute, off-white felt hat. There’s a thick lavender-colored grosgrain ribbon all the way around the hat, which coordinates with the top, and three white flowers. There’s also off-white fabric trim all the way around the edge of the brim. Overall I feel like this outfit is a little quirky and it may be period-specific (although the individual pieces might transfer to other time periods better than the outfit as a whole), but I really admire the quality and details. Overall, I think the outfit is very nicely made and I would rate it a solid A.
