This item is associated with the book, Molly Learns a Lesson. It was introduced in 1990 and retired in 2011.Molly loved everything about school except Miss Campbell’s horrible multiplication bees. And she might even like those if you sit her straight and tall in her desk and help her practice her flashcards. The desktop lifts up so all her school supplies and books fit inside. There’s a pencil groove in the top, and the seat swivels so she can make a quick getaway for recess!Molly’s School Desk Item# MSF $68 "The top of Molly’s desk lifts up so all her school supplies and books fit inside. Plus, there’s a pencil groove in the top, and the seat swivels so she can make a quick getaway for recess." I'll have to start off this review with a picture from the AG website. I bought my desk at Goodwill and it is missing the back of the seat. Still this desk is a great piece of furniture. It is all real wood and metal. Thick, sturdy metal (I've no idea how mine ever got broken!) The top of the desk lifts up just like in that era (and for years beyond, as so did mine in the '70s) and can hold her school supplies. Molly's desk even has an ink well, even though she doesn't have any ink to fit into it. Her school supplies come with pencils! I really like my desk and it was REALLY worth it's price ($5), but it is well made, sturdy and a great addition to Molly's collection at it's AG price. Dimensions L: 11" W: 8" H: 10". Grade A.

I love Molly's school desk and agree about it being timeless. I also sat at one that was almost identical when I was at school in the 70s... which is why it appealed to me. I got mine from a fellow board member and am thrilled to bits with it. It's such a beautiful, quality piece, sturdy smooth wood and metal as AGR describes.
The seat swivels from side to side. One thing I noticed is that because the desk lid is angled down (as you would expect since so are the full size ones) Georgia's binder (actually it's Alex's if we're being pedantic) had a tendency to slide down the desk. It's an easy fix if one or both of the doll's hands are there to 'catch' an errant binder or book. Georgia is one of my dolls who doesn't sit quite as well as others but I had very little trouble putting her to sit at the desk. I put Lindsey, who DOES sit extremely well, at the desk as well in case the comparison was any use.
Have I mentioned I love this piece of doll furniture? I would recommend it to anyone contemplating buying it. A+ for sure

I just got Molly's desk for my birthday. This is a lovely piece, possibly the nicest piece of AG furniture for the $. It isn't quite as elaborate as Kit's roll top desk, but still fabulous. It's rumored to be retiring. A+ from me.

I have two of Molly's desks. One I bought directly at AGPLA in June of last year and the other I ordered during a free shipping period. The one I ordered seems a little loose and has a stamp on the bottom, but it's still nice. I keep both in a school display corner of my room. One desk belongs to my Molly and the other belongs to Lindsey.

I have four. The plan is for Molly, Emily, Linda, & Susan to be able to all sit at the desks together. Here is a photo I have of all my girls at their various desks (Marisol and Kit are in the desks for Linda and Susan).

I have four, and like others, they are for Molly, Emily, Linda, and Susan. I think a classroom needs multiple desks and I LOVE Molly's. They remind me of similar ones I had in school and they are sturdy and well-made. One is my dd's from her childhood collection and the others were great Ebay finds.

I have 3 Molly desks, and set up a classroom on my doll display shelves. I keep the school display set up for months on end, it is my favorite display. Here are a few pictures of the Molly classroom: This picture was taken 12-10 when they had a Christmas party at school:
