From AmericanGirl.com: Mia is ready to shine in this special skating outfit:
- A velour leotard with sparkly mesh sleeves and a matching ruffled skirt - A soft headband to sweep back her hair - A sparkly feathered comb to catch the light when she’s on the ice - A pair of mesh tights to match
This dress is cuter in person, but the skirt kept sticking to the velcro, which made it very difficult to put on and take off. That is the main reason for the grade; if I had trouble, I can't imagine how anyone in AG's target age range could play with this dress without the skirt becoming snagged and ripped.
The headband and comb are separate pieces, which is a plus because I don't care for the comb.
The tights were hard to get on, but I've never tried AG tights before, so this could be normal. Plus I was afraid of ripping them if I tugged too hard.

Mia's Silver Skate Dress Item# F8185 $28
Mia is ready to shine in this special skating outfit:
* A velour leotard with sparkly mesh sleeves and a matching ruffled skirt * A soft headband to sweep back her hair * A sparkly feathered comb to catch the light when she’s on the ice * A pair of mesh tights to match
I love this dress! It's so much like the one she made in her book! I don't have any trouble with the velcro at all. I didn't try the tights on her because I like the outfit better without them. They are pretty gold sparkly though, and will go great with other outfits.
I'm glad the headband and comb are not just one piece so we can do some mixing and matching with other outfits. The comb is metal and really quite durable. The headband is the same velour as her dress with several light blue sequins sewed in a row on it.
Grade A from me!

attempted close up of the embroidered design on the bodice
I would definitely give this dress an A+, and recommend it highly over Mia's performance dress. The one flaw I have to note is that the skirt snags VERY easily, even against tights. The skirt is soft and sort of flouncy, kind of like a cloud, and is made of extremely delicate material. If a thread catches onto her tights, you have to pull it to adjust the skirt, and the thread usually snags. This dress has to be treated with a lot of care. On the happy side, however, the bodice part of the dress is not prone to snagging at all because of the velvety material, which is why I prefer it over the green dress.
The embroidery is a perfect sky blue color, and really pretty. Like I said before, the skirt is really flouncy and I can just imagine a girl skating in it, with the skirt bouncing as she jumped. I also really love the sleeves of the dress! They're a shiny, kind of sheer material, but more opaque than you would expect. The ends of the sleeves are velour just like the bodice, and it's a really nice look. The headband completes the outfit perfectly. I never use the comb because I just don't care for it (in all honesty, I think it looks kind of ridiculous), but the headband works just fine on its own. I was really glad to see it was a separate piece.
Aside from the comb, the piece I don't like is the pair of tights. The tights are way too glittery to look realistic, and you can feel the shiny material woven into them, which makes them kind of rough. I prefer pairing the dress with the regular flesh-toned tights from Mia's performance outfit.
Pairs skating? Oh my.
My girls: Remy (#14), Dorinda (#23), Anya (#24), Siobhan (#25), Brook(lyn) (#41), Marisol, Jess, Nicki, Mia, Ami (blue eyed Mia), Gwen, Sonali, Molly, Mark (not a girl! custom #24)
This dress is adorable on Mia! It is made very well, like a real figure skating dress should be. The velcro in the back comes down a little low on the skirt, but to avoid this problem, I place a piece of velcro over it while dressing the doll. My tights were a little snug at first, but after several changes, go on fairly easily. They are made in good likeness of real figure skating tights although the ones to the Performance Dress are better. (I know because I own about 20 pairs of the real thing.) These are a little scratchy due to the glitter in them, but I haven't had a problem with them scratching my doll. I don't care much for the comb, but thumbs up for it being metal. The head band is very cute, but typically, I wear my hair in a bun without extra stuff that can fall off for skating performances. My Mia does, too.

I bought the outfit on Ebay and it is like new in box. The skirt seems to be made of nylon stocking material and is shockingly fragile looking. I have read the above comments and will be careful not to snag the dress on the tights or anything else. Perhaps I will wear gloves when I dress Mia so as not to snag it with a hangnail. That's how fragile it is.
I love this outfit but I think I am the most careful with it out of any of my doll outfits. The potential for the velcro to snag on the skirt scares me. I like the idea of putting another piece of velcro on it while you put it on the doll so I might try that. Overall though, it is very well made. I like the detailing on the dress. I also wish the tights were not sparkly, but they're ok. Off the doll, they look really gold so I thought they should've been silvery-colored, but on the doll they take on a more nude tone. They do fit better than her meet tights though and are made of a thicker material... I'm always afraid I'm going to rip her meet tights because they're so thin. The headband fits well. I also use the comb and I like that it's metal. I'm not sure if it's really that realistic for skating but I think it looks cute (I've seen things like it in dance).

I love this dress. It is much prettier in person than it is in pictures. The tights are very difficult to get on and don't go all the way over her bottom, so the only thing holding them up is the dress. Other wise, very pretty!
