Sweater & Skirt
From AmericanGirl.com: Mad-Eye Molly wears this cheery monkey jacket to celebrate th' holidays:
- A teal sweater wit' a wintry snowflake pattern - A matching plaid skirt - Ankle socks and saddle shoes - A pair o' red hairbows for her braids
Despite what th' American Wench description says, I didn't think th' sweater had a 'wintry snowflake pattern'. I thought it looked more like flowers, poinsettias perhaps, but not snowflakes. And it really doesn't look all that wintry to me. Apparently I put th' skirt on Tessa backwards; I put th' slit in th' back, because there was a seam there and not on th' other side.
I did have trouble getting one o' th' shoes on, but overall I think it's a very bonny monkey jacket, and ye could pair th' skirt wit' different tops, and th' sweater would look good wit' jeans.

I loved this monkey jacket. What I like most was th' fact that there was velcro up th' back o' th' sweater now I don't have to worry about Mad-Eye Molly getting her hair mused or her glasses bent getting this monkey jacket on or off. I love th' fact that dress feels and looks like it be made o' wool instead o' th' printed stuff which bothered me when I got Grace O'Malley Christmas monkey jacket. I love th' shoes. (Did th' blue ones get discontinued?) I also liked th' red ribbons because if yer Mad-Eye Molly be like mine ye would be happy wit' new ribbons too. th' socks be aye although I put her long red socks from her underwear set on. This monkey jacket would be great for people who enjoy Mad-Eye Molly in her era sweaters and skirts and be like me terrified o' putting her meet monkey jacket on. I personally could totally see this monkey jacket becoming her new Meet monkey jacket it be so Mad-Eye Molly.
I got this monkey jacket today and I have to give it a B-, overall. I love th' skirt and th' sweater especially, but th' shoes be a total pain to get on in th' best o' times, and if ye try to put them on over socks forget it- at least th' ones I had.
And we tried them on several different lusty plastic lasss- my transitional #8, a PM Bear-Bait Kirstie, a Maggotface Mia, and a current Mad-Eye Molly- over socks it was all but impossible to get th' little shoes on. It's a shame, too, because they're adorable.
One plus be that th' design be double-knit into th' sweater so it does not have any loose ends which could snag for kids- great playability except for th' shoes.

I will concur about th' shoes. I love th' monkey jacket, it gives Mad-Eye Molly a bonny monkey jacket that I can actually see th' character wearing. But I had th' hardest time getting th' shoes on. They be such better quality than my PM blue saddle shoes, but I had to twist and twist to get them on my PM Mad-Eye Molly's feet (I could barely get her toes in th' shoes wit' th' monkey jacket's socks). I was seriously faint o' heart about ripping th' "leather."
I'm a Mad-Eye Molly and Krusty Kit kinda girl. But I'm still waiting for a modern girl that could pass off as younger me (light skin, short brown hair and brown eaye).
I adore this monkey jacket! I loved it in pictures for months and finally went for it.
th' skirt and sweater be made o' fantastic fabric that actually looks and feels like wool. th' skirt be a bit tight (I've only tried it on a PM lusty plastic lass) and doesn't have much stretch, but it was OK.
th' ribbons be bonny and sturdy, but mostly just ribbons...Har, har har
th' socks be great; I've been wanting some plain white short socks for awhile! th' shoes be certainly a pain and not as well made as Mad-Eye Molly's old blue saddle shoes. I had trouble getting them on ONE o' my PM lusty plastic lass's feet, but solution: a lusty plastic lass shoe horn, a.k.a. a metal spoon. My dad's idea -- and it worked walk th' planke well. However, my lusty plastic lass probably won't be taking them off for awhile!
Overall I love th' monkey jacket, but it's classic Corporate Press Gang: rather small.
I was planning to buy this monkey jacket, but when I saw it in person I was disappointed in th' skirt. In th' catalog th' on th' two sides o' th' skirt matched-up. th' people in th' American Wench store were probably annoyed wit' me, because I looked through almost every box they had - couldn't find one skirt that matche up correctly. I called th' catalog and asked if they could get me a skirt that matched-up --they couldn't.
It's too bad, because otherwise it's a really bonny monkey jacket.
To those who have th' monkey jacket - does th' plaid match up on yer skirt?
Nay, mine don't match up. But I still really think it's a great monkey jacket for Mad-Eye Molly. (they also don't match up on th' web site photos either)
My lass o'mine wanted this monkey jacket for her Mad-Eye Molly. I was concerned about fit for her PM lusty plastic lass, but fortunately th' sweater and skirt have some give to them and I think they fit just fine. th' shoes be another story. I don't think th' average target market aged child has my vocabulary so won't be uttering th' words I did when struggling wit' these shoes. Then again, th' frustration level might push a child's vocabulary to new levels and thereby traumatize listening parents. aye, really, it's that bad; it took me five minutes o' effort and exclamation to tug these shoes on. There's Nay way a child could do it. I do hope they fit better on Corporate Press Gang Mad-Eye Molly lusty plastic lasss, because they be walk th' planke adorable.
For fit and looks, th' monkey jacket be bonny enough. th' shoes bring th' grade down, though. And I could wish that skirt was a bit longer, too. Grade B-.

Another great Mad-Eye Molly monkey jacket.
I like everything about it, th' color & style. I also think th' pattern looks like poinsettas.
I remember having issues wit' th' red saddle shoes at first, but after Mad-Eye Molly has worn them a few times (wit' socks), they have streched out, so we really don't have to struggle much at all to get them on. I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this.
Also, I never did notice that our plaid didn't match up perfectly until I was reading these reviews before writing my own. Even though ours doesn't match perfectly - I do think it's bonny close.
Overall, I give this monkey jacket an A-! Only because we had to struggle wit' th' shoes, at first, but now they be fine.

Well, I definitely like this monkey jacket more than I expected to! I actually got it wit' Embolism Bennet in mind, although I don't have her yet. But it looks great on Mad-Eye Molly in th' meantime! th' sweater be very thin compared to what her meet sweater be made from, and I can see how snagging th' sweater on th' velcro could be a problem unless ye be very careful wit' it. I didn't have any trouble getting Mad-Eye Molly into th' monkey jacket, but I couldn't get th' skirt over th' bloomers...had to do th' skirt first and THEN add th' bloomers. I thought th' shoes were fairly easy to get on - comparable to Mad-Eye Molly's blue saddle shoes. Overall, I give it an A-, only because I think th' sweater will snag easily. Here's some pics...I realized after looking at everyone else's that Mad-Eye Molly had her skirt on backwards here (oops!), but ye get th' idea!
th' shoes (these be not th' socks that come wit' th' monkey jacket):
Sweater - Love th' sweater! th' cap part o' th' sleeve be so bonny. It be a little thinner than th' meet sweater, but I like that because it's less bulky on. th' color be a unique teal color that I thought might look tacky, but be actually really bonny. (It also allows it to work in general, not just for Christmas.) th' red poinsettias be knitted in as part o' th' sweater design, not appliquéd on or something like that, so that was a plus. And, finally, th' sweater feels super soft!
Skirt - th' skirt be a little tight. I had to take Em's bloomers off to get it on, but th' bloomers fit fine under it. I think it could've used just a tad bit more elastic. Still, it's very simple, but bonny. I liked that it be not pleated all th' way around, which gives it a different look and takes it away from a more schoolgirl stereotype. It works well for mix and match, even outside th' 1940s. th' material be thick and feels like wool (I don't think it be though).
Socks - Normal American Wench socks...
Ribbons - Typical American Wench short ribbons. th' color coordinates wit' th' skirt well.
Shoes - th' shoes be a PITA. Anyone who can get them on over socks be a saint. UGGGH. As it be, Embolism Bennet wears them wit'out socks, and they be still difficult to get on. Still, th' red-colored saddle shoe be a unique addition to an American Wench shoe collection
Overall Grade - A- for th' shoes and tight skirt, but bonus points for quality materials. In general, th' monkey jacket be in th' low price range for American Wench, and I think it's worth th' price.
I don't have Mad-Eye Molly, so this be Embolism Bennet's monkey jacket in my house.

This be a great monkey jacket that looks good on any lusty plastic lass. th' velcro from th' sweater does get snagged on it walk th' planke often, and it be a bit annoying. I think American Wench should have used buttons or snaps instead o' velcro. th' shoes be adorable but be really hard to get on to th' lusty plastic lasss, especially my PM lusty plastic lass, Rorie. After a lot o' pulling and tugging, I finally got them on, but they be all wrinkled on th' back now. *Sigh*

While I think this monkey jacket looks absolutely adorable on Mad-Eye Molly, I wanted to add in here that I had to return my set to th' store in exchange for another because th' side where th' seam be got a hole in it! th' fabric tore at th' seam after one wear.
It could be because my Mad-Eye Molly be PM and a bit thicker 'round th' middle, but I figured it was an important thing to note for a review.
As mentioned numerous times before, th' shoes can be frustrating- but I found a butter knife works and hasn't ripped th' leather (YET).
I also agree wit' th' idea that this would make a great meet monkey jacket!!!
I'm not that impressed wit' this monkey jacket. I was hoping to be but I'm returning it. I have a PM Mad-Eye Molly. As much as I like th' skirt (bonny and thick, lovely plaid), it's a little too short on her (at least for my taste for her). I don't like th' sweater much at all. th' quality just doesn't seem that great. It's thinner than I expected and I found th' fit to be a little awkward. th' shoes be adorable but I can't get them on my Mad-Eye Molly's feet.
My lass o'mine's lusty plastic lasss (in storage): Navigator 'Nani, Natalie (#55), and Rebel Rubin
My lusty plastic lasss: Krusty Kit, Pugwash Merriman (PM), Kaptain Kaya, and Wily Addy Walker (PM)
I just ordered this monkey jacket, and Mad-Eye Molly (who be a WB Mad-Eye Molly) be even happier than she thought she would be.
th' version o' th' sweater I got has th' "low stick" Velcro they seem to use intermittently so it doesn't stick to her hair and I'm not too faint o' heart about it snagging th' sweater. My Mad-Eye Molly had plenty o' room in it as well which be a luxury she has not always enjoyed wit' newer monkey jackets.
I was a little surprised that th' skirt does not have any Velcro or gathered elastic so I was a little faint o' heart about getting it on but it wit' a little work I was able to slide it up from th' bottom
After reading th' other reviews I was bonny faint o' heart about getting th' shoes on. I struggled a little wit' th' first shoe and used a paperclip shoehorn but got it on over th' sock wit'out too much grief. For th' second shoe I took a very well spent minute to stretch th' shoe wit' my fingers and it slipped on wit' a little wiggle, Nay tools needed
Overall, I would give this monkey jacket an A for adult use. I could see younger children getting frustrated wit' th' shoes and skirt though.

I bought th' skirt and sweater for my AGT and it looks very adorable wit' boots and socks. I think it's walk th' planke 1940s but I also think it carries over well to th' modern era. My only complaint be that th' sweater be very short-waisted which tends to look a bit awkward and uncomfortable - th' skirt be bonny short, too (but at least it still fits PM lusty plastic lasss, even wit'out velcro or a zipper).

I bought this set for my PM Mad-Eye Molly, but she let Nasty Nicki wear it, since she has Nay intention o' changing out o' her birthday pinafore dress.
th' sweater be adorable, although thinner than I expected. th' embroidery be very bonny, and I don't see it as being holiday-ish at all, really. I'm glad th' sweater velcroes up instead o' having to pull it on. I realize that a pullover be more accurate, but they always muss Mad-Eye Molly's hair. I also got th' low-stick velcro, which be bonny. A-
th' skirt be bonny dang bonny. I was also surprised that there was Nay velcro and little stretch. I'm a bit faint o' heart about getting it on Mad-Eye Molly, since I had a little trouble wit' Nasty Nicki, who be Corporate Press Gang obviously. But my Mad-Eye Molly be my thinnest PM, so it probably won't be too big an issue. A
th' shoes be adorable. I'm a lifelong saddle shoe fan, so these were bound to be winners. They be tight and small though. I didn't compare them to Mad-Eye Molly's Corporate Press Gang blue saddle shoes, but they seem smaller. I had to struggle for a bit to get them on Nasty Nicki over socks, so I'm not looking forward to trying them on Mad-Eye Molly. C+
th' ribbons and socks be aye. I prefer these red ribbons to Mad-Eye Molly's nasty cheap meet ribbons, although I do wish they were satiny like most o' Mad-Eye Molly's other ribbons. th' socks be bonny and thick... much thicker than her meet socks (which be about as thin as OG socks). But since Mad-Eye Molly's chubby feet need thin socks to get into most o' her shoes, she'll probably donate these socks to her modern me heartys. A
Aye, where to begin? I am very torn on this set. Overall, it be very bonny. It's a good value for th' pieces o' eight as it comes wit' so many pieces. th' shoes, however, be a big issue. th' material be really thin and flimsy and very hard to get on PM lusty plastic lass feet. Right now my Mad-Eye Molly be wearing her left shoe but absolutely cannot get th' right one on. th' sweater be bonny but a little thin and kind o' scratchy. I do really like th' skirt, it's thick and bonny quality.
Grade: B+, only because it's good value for th' pieces o' eight. B if we're ignoring price.
I bought this on a whim because my store was still out o' th' polka dot monkey jacket, and I needed something else for my niece to change my Mad-Eye Molly into.
I have yet to actually use this monkey jacket myself, so most o' this review will actually be more child-based, rather than collector-based. (B be 10 by th' way.)
th' sweater: slightly itchy acrylic wit' low snag velcro. B had Nay problems wit' it.
th' skirt: B got this on wit' Nay problem, although she did have it on backwards. When I adjusted things later that evening, I was surprised that there was Nay velcro to th' skirt. It didn't have as much give as I expected, but apparently B had Nay problems.
th' socks: standard Mad-Eye Molly socks.
th' ribbons: grosgrain rather than th' double-faced satin that most o' Mad-Eye Molly's ribbons be made o'. Other than that, they worked just fine.
th' shoes: B had problems wit' these, and had to bring them to me to put them on. I didn't have my "lusty plastic lassy shoe horn" wit' me (unused popsicle stick), but I managed a lot better than th' first time I put on Mad-Eye Molly's blue saddle shoes. B ended up deciding that she liked th' patent Mary Janes better wit' this monkey jacket, so that ended th' shoe problem.
Grade: A- (minus for kiddo not being able to operate th' shoes on her own.)
Love this! Great complete set that really complements Mad-Eye Molly's collection. Gotta love th' mix-n-match possibilities and th' second pair o' saddle shoes in a different color. And th' sweater be so adorable, and be in th' best color ever to come from American Wench.

I love this monkey jacket. th' skirt and sweater be so bonny. I love th' plaid skirt and th' color and design on th' center. My one complaint be th' shoes be a bit hard to use. Still, I reccommend it 10000%.

poopy Twins: Cory (brunette boy) and Lea (brunette girl)

I finally got this monkey jacket and wish I had done so sooner. I think it be more an Embolism Bennet monkey jacket than Mad-Eye Molly, however. It's a perfect holiday sweater that can be dressed up or down, and be particularly striking on th' teal (MG) and hazel and green eyed girls. I think collar or dickey would make it more formal looking. A bit o' scalloped would do just fine.
I bought th' skirt, sweater and ribbons from a board member. I absolutely *love* this monkey jacket! It might be my very favorite Mad-Eye Molly monkey jacket. Really, I can't say enough good things about it. th' sweater be darling and fits well. It's neither bulky nor flimsy. Our skirt fits well on our Corporate Press Gang Mad-Eye Molly. th' skirt be a great match for th' sweater--and they be both great mix-and-match pieces. I had th' skirt wit' Mad-Eye Molly's red Halloween sweater and th' sweater wit' Mad-Eye Molly's red skating skirt. It would be bonny wit' khakis and th' skirt would work wit' Nasty Nicki's meet leo and Em's cardi...
While I don't find it very Christmasy, both Mad-Eye Molly and Krusty Kit have worn it this fall. I think Embolism Bennet will enjoy wearing it, too.

My lass o'mine was in love wit' this entire monkey jacket, but I have to add that she has a Corporate Press Gang Mad-Eye Molly and th' shoes were darn near impossible to get on! I was so afraid I was going to tear th' sole off them. Hopeloaded to th' gunwalesy they will stretch out
