From AmericanGirl.com: Molly wears this cheery outfit to celebrate the holidays:
- A teal sweater with a wintry snowflake pattern - A matching plaid skirt - Ankle socks and saddle shoes - A pair of red hairbows for her braids
Despite what the AG description says, I didn't think the sweater had a 'wintry snowflake pattern'. I thought it looked more like flowers, poinsettias perhaps, but not snowflakes. And it really doesn't look all that wintry to me. Apparently I put the skirt on Tessa backwards; I put the slit in the back, because there was a seam there and not on the other side.
I did have trouble getting one of the shoes on, but overall I think it's a very cute outfit, and you could pair the skirt with different tops, and the sweater would look good with jeans.

I loved this outfit. What I like most was the fact that there was velcro up the back of the sweater now I don't have to worry about Molly getting her hair mused or her glasses bent getting this outfit on or off. I love the fact that dress feels and looks like it is made of wool instead of the printed stuff which bothered me when I got Nellie Christmas outfit. I love the shoes. (Did the blue ones get discontinued?) I also liked the red ribbons because if your Molly is like mine you would be happy with new ribbons too. The socks are okay although I put her long red socks from her underwear set on. This outfit would be great for people who enjoy Molly in her era sweaters and skirts and are like me terrified of putting her meet outfit on. I personally could totally see this outfit becoming her new Meet Outfit it is so Molly.

I got this outfit today and I have to give it a B-, overall. I love the skirt and the sweater especially, but the shoes are a total pain to get on in the best of times, and if you try to put them on over socks forget it- at least the ones I had.
And we tried them on several different dolls- my transitional #8, a PM Kirsten, a Mia, and a current Molly- over socks it was all but impossible to get the little shoes on. It's a shame, too, because they're adorable.
One plus is that the design is double-knit into the sweater so it does not have any loose ends which could snag for kids- great playability except for the shoes.

I will concur about the shoes. I love the outfit, it gives Molly a cute outfit that I can actually see the character wearing. But I had the hardest time getting the shoes on. They are such better quality than my PM blue saddle shoes, but I had to twist and twist to get them on my PM Molly's feet (I could barely get her toes in the shoes with the outfit's socks). I was seriously worried about ripping the "leather."
I'm a Molly and Kit kinda girl. But I'm still waiting for a modern girl that could pass off as younger me (light skin, short brown hair and brown eyes).
I adore this outfit! I loved it in pictures for months and finally went for it.
The skirt and sweater are made of fantastic fabric that actually looks and feels like wool. The skirt is a bit tight (I've only tried it on a PM doll) and doesn't have much stretch, but it was OK.
The ribbons are nice and sturdy, but mostly just ribbons...lol
The socks are great; I've been wanting some plain white short socks for awhile! The shoes are certainly a pain and not as well made as Molly's old blue saddle shoes. I had trouble getting them on ONE of my PM doll's feet, but solution: a doll shoe horn, a.k.a. a metal spoon. My dad's idea -- and it worked quite well. However, my doll probably won't be taking them off for awhile!
Overall I love the outfit, but it's classic Mattel: rather small.
I was planning to buy this outfit, but when I saw it in person I was disappointed in the skirt. In the catalog the on the two sides of the skirt matched-up. The people in the AG store were probably annoyed with me, because I looked through almost every box they had - couldn't find one skirt that matche up correctly. I called the catalog and asked if they could get me a skirt that matched-up --they couldn't.
It's too bad, because otherwise it's a really nice outfit.
To those who have the outfit - does the plaid match up on your skirt?
No, mine don't match up. But I still really think it's a great outfit for Molly. (they also don't match up on the web site photos either)
My daughter wanted this outfit for her Molly. I was concerned about fit for her PM doll, but fortunately the sweater and skirt have some give to them and I think they fit just fine. The shoes are another story. I don't think the average target market aged child has my vocabulary so won't be uttering the words I did when struggling with these shoes. Then again, the frustration level might push a child's vocabulary to new levels and thereby traumatize listening parents. Yes, really, it's that bad; it took me five minutes of effort and exclamation to tug these shoes on. There's no way a child could do it. I do hope they fit better on Mattel Molly dolls, because they are quite adorable.
For fit and looks, the outfit is nice enough. The shoes bring the grade down, though. And I could wish that skirt was a bit longer, too. Grade B-.

Another great Molly outfit.
I like everything about it, the color & style. I also think the pattern looks like poinsettas.
I remember having issues with the red saddle shoes at first, but after Molly has worn them a few times (with socks), they have streched out, so we really don't have to struggle much at all to get them on. I am not sure if anyone else has noticed this.
Also, I never did notice that our plaid didn't match up perfectly until I was reading these reviews before writing my own. Even though ours doesn't match perfectly - I do think it's pretty close.
Overall, I give this outfit an A-! Only because we had to struggle with the shoes, at first, but now they are fine.

Well, I definitely like this outfit more than I expected to! I actually got it with Emily in mind, although I don't have her yet. But it looks great on Molly in the meantime! The sweater is very thin compared to what her meet sweater is made from, and I can see how snagging the sweater on the velcro could be a problem unless you are very careful with it. I didn't have any trouble getting Molly into the outfit, but I couldn't get the skirt over the bloomers...had to do the skirt first and THEN add the bloomers. I thought the shoes were fairly easy to get on - comparable to Molly's blue saddle shoes. Overall, I give it an A-, only because I think the sweater will snag easily. Here's some pics...I realized after looking at everyone else's that Molly had her skirt on backwards here (oops!), but you get the idea!
The shoes (these are not the socks that come with the outfit):
This is a great outfit that looks good on any doll. The velcro from the sweater does get snagged on it quite often, and it is a bit annoying. I think AG should have used buttons or snaps instead of velcro. The shoes are adorable but are really hard to get on to the dolls, especially my PM doll, Rorie. After a lot of pulling and tugging, I finally got them on, but they are all wrinkled on the back now. *Sigh*

While I think this outfit looks absolutely adorable on Molly, I wanted to add in here that I had to return my set to the store in exchange for another because the side where the seam is got a hole in it! The fabric tore at the seam after one wear.
It could be because my Molly is PM and a bit thicker 'round the middle, but I figured it was an important thing to note for a review.
As mentioned numerous times before, the shoes can be frustrating- but I found a butter knife works and hasn't ripped the leather (YET).
I also agree with the idea that this would make a great meet outfit!!!
I'm not that impressed with this outfit. I was hoping to be but I'm returning it. I have a PM Molly. As much as I like the skirt (nice and thick, lovely plaid), it's a little too short on her (at least for my taste for her). I don't like the sweater much at all. The quality just doesn't seem that great. It's thinner than I expected and I found the fit to be a little awkward. The shoes are adorable but I can't get them on my Molly's feet.
My daughter's dolls (in storage): Kanani, Natalie (#55), and Rebecca
My dolls: Kit, Felicity (PM), Kaya, and Addy (PM)
I just ordered this outfit, and Molly (who is a WB Molly) is even happier than she thought she would be.
The version of the sweater I got has the "low stick" Velcro they seem to use intermittently so it doesn't stick to her hair and I'm not too worried about it snagging the sweater. My Molly had plenty of room in it as well which is a luxury she has not always enjoyed with newer outfits.
I was a little surprised that the skirt does not have any Velcro or gathered elastic so I was a little worried about getting it on but it with a little work I was able to slide it up from the bottom
After reading the other reviews I was pretty worried about getting the shoes on. I struggled a little with the first shoe and used a paperclip shoehorn but got it on over the sock without too much grief. For the second shoe I took a very well spent minute to stretch the shoe with my fingers and it slipped on with a little wiggle, no tools needed
Overall, I would give this outfit an A for adult use. I could see younger children getting frustrated with the shoes and skirt though.

I bought the skirt and sweater for my AGT and it looks very adorable with boots and socks. I think it's quite 1940s but I also think it carries over well to the modern era. My only complaint is that the sweater is very short-waisted which tends to look a bit awkward and uncomfortable - the skirt is pretty short, too (but at least it still fits PM dolls, even without velcro or a zipper).

I bought this set for my PM Molly, but she let Nicki wear it, since she has no intention of changing out of her birthday pinafore dress.
The sweater is adorable, although thinner than I expected. The embroidery is very pretty, and I don't see it as being holiday-ish at all, really. I'm glad the sweater velcroes up instead of having to pull it on. I realize that a pullover is more accurate, but they always muss Molly's hair. I also got the low-stick velcro, which is nice. A-
The skirt is pretty dang cute. I was also surprised that there was no velcro and little stretch. I'm a bit worried about getting it on Molly, since I had a little trouble with Nicki, who is Mattel obviously. But my Molly is my thinnest PM, so it probably won't be too big an issue. A
The shoes are adorable. I'm a lifelong saddle shoe fan, so these were bound to be winners. They are tight and small though. I didn't compare them to Molly's mattel blue saddle shoes, but they seem smaller. I had to struggle for a bit to get them on Nicki over socks, so I'm not looking forward to trying them on Molly. C+
The ribbons and socks are okay. I prefer these red ribbons to Molly's nasty cheap meet ribbons, although I do wish they were satiny like most of Molly's other ribbons. The socks are nice and thick... much thicker than her meet socks (which are about as thin as OG socks). But since Molly's chubby feet need thin socks to get into most of her shoes, she'll probably donate these socks to her modern friends. A
Aye, where to begin? I am very torn on this set. Overall, it is very cute. It's a good value for the money as it comes with so many pieces. The shoes, however, are a big issue. The material is really thin and flimsy and very hard to get on PM doll feet. Right now my Molly is wearing her left shoe but absolutely cannot get the right one on. The sweater is nice but a little thin and kind of scratchy. I do really like the skirt, it's thick and nice quality.
Grade: B+, only because it's good value for the money. B if we're ignoring price.
I bought this on a whim because my store was still out of the polka dot outfit, and I needed something else for my niece to change my Molly into.
I have yet to actually use this outfit myself, so most of this review will actually be more child-based, rather than collector-based. (B is 10 by the way.)
The sweater: slightly itchy acrylic with low snag velcro. B had no problems with it.
The skirt: B got this on with no problem, although she did have it on backwards. When I adjusted things later that evening, I was surprised that there was no velcro to the skirt. It didn't have as much give as I expected, but apparently B had no problems.
The socks: standard Molly socks.
The ribbons: grosgrain rather than the double-faced satin that most of Molly's ribbons are made of. Other than that, they worked just fine.
The shoes: B had problems with these, and had to bring them to me to put them on. I didn't have my "dolly shoe horn" with me (unused popsicle stick), but I managed a lot better than the first time I put on Molly's blue saddle shoes. B ended up deciding that she liked the patent Mary Janes better with this outfit, so that ended the shoe problem.
Grade: A- (minus for kiddo not being able to operate the shoes on her own.)
Love this! Great complete set that really complements Molly's collection. Gotta love the mix-n-match possibilities and the second pair of saddle shoes in a different color. And the sweater is so adorable, and is in the best color ever to come from AG.

I love this outfit. The skirt and sweater are so pretty. I love the plaid skirt and the color and design on the center. My one complaint is the shoes are a bit hard to use. Still, I reccommend it 10000%.
Historical: Molly, Kit, Emily, Ruthie and Samantha
MyAG: Kylie (#23), Hannah (#37), Emma (#39), Allie (#53) and Rachel (#57)
GOTY: Kailey, Nicki and Abby (Saige)
Bitty Babies: Helina (blond), Sarah (brunette with brown eyes), Grace (brunette with blue eyes) and Katie (redhead)
Bitty Twins: Cory (brunette boy) and Lea (brunette girl)
Customs: Sasha, Jessica, Natalie, Lauren and Zoey
I finally got this outfit and wish I had done so sooner. I think it is more an Emily outfit than Molly, however. It's a perfect holiday sweater that can be dressed up or down, and is particularly striking on the teal (MG) and hazel and green eyed girls. I think collar or dickey would make it more formal looking. A bit of scalloped would do just fine.
I bought the skirt, sweater and ribbons from a board member. I absolutely *love* this outfit! It might be my very favorite Molly outfit. Really, I can't say enough good things about it. The sweater is darling and fits well. It's neither bulky nor flimsy. Our skirt fits well on our Mattel Molly. The skirt is a great match for the sweater--and they are both great mix-and-match pieces. I had the skirt with Molly's red Halloween sweater and the sweater with Molly's red skating skirt. It would be cute with khakis and the skirt would work with Nicki's meet leo and Em's cardi...
While I don't find it very Christmasy, both Molly and Kit have worn it this fall. I think Emily will enjoy wearing it, too.
My daughter was in love with this entire outfit, but I have to add that she has a Mattel Molly and the shoes were darn near impossible to get on! I was so afraid I was going to tear the sole off them. Hopefully they will stretch out
