Julie's bed is not wood, it is good quality plastic/ resin. The bedding is beautifully made but the canopy just sits on top of the frame and frequently comes off. The beads are very nice and attach firmly.

Our Julie bed is wood, and very well made. It took my husband about 20 minutes to assemble with the included wrench. My daughter is in love with it!
The only part I do not care for is the canopy part. It is a light weight orange fabric and only sets on top. It does not attach. For an adult collector I do not see this as a problem. As a mom who vicariously collects through her five year daughter, I feel strongly this should be secured.
The bedding is cute and a light weight. Very vivid colors. My daughter snapped in the beads herself.

Julie’s Bed & Bedding Item# F6332 $118 (price increase to $125)
Moving into Mom’s new apartment also means a whole new ’70s bed set for Julie. Julie loves sleeping and dreaming in her new “far-out” bed, featuring: * A wooden, four-poster bed with a scalloped canopy and cascading beads at each corner * A tufted mattress and pillow covered in matching printed fabric * A reversible bedspread with a fun pop-art graphic on one side and stripes on the other * An orange satin throw pillow with gold tassels
Bed dimensions - W:13" x H: 22" x D: 23
I don't know where the OP thinks her bed is not wooden, because it certainly is. It's even in the description on AG on-line. Totally wooden. The only plastic parts are the hooks for the beads and the beads themselves.
The bedding is a mattress and pillow with attached covering that makes it look as if it already has sheets on it. The fabric reversible bedspread is cut to fit on Julie's bed only (with the corners notched out so it fits around her canopy poles.) The small decorative pillow is orange satin and just like Licorice's Dream Set pillow with a different color scheme.
The canopy is velvety and fits just right over the bed top. It fits well enough that it should stay, even though it doesn't hook down in anyway.
This may take up the most space of any AG bed, but it's definitely the roomiest! Grade A+
ETA: if you want extra beads you can order those (along with an extra canopy) F6333-A02A $24
In reference to how the beads are attached: The beads come in sets of 6 that are already attached to a plastic bar that snaps into a plastic holder that is pre-attached to the top of the bed. Again, those are the only plastic parts to this great bed.
I bought Julie’s bed for my granddaughter’s birthday last May. She loves the bed; my only complaint is the canopy doesn’t stay put however a few glue dots and the problem was fixed. The beads are plastic but the frame is wood if I recall.
I saw this at a house where I tutor the older brother. It looks like a good quality piece from what I saw. I did see their lab send it flying on the hardwood floor and it didn't seem to be any worse for wear. I didn't really get to examine it closely though, but the sister really seemed to enjoy playing with it.

We bought Julie's bed/bedding for one of our DGD's last year and she absolutely loves it. The bed is made of painted wood I believe. It surely does not feel like anything plastic except for the hanging beads which one would expect. It seems plenty sturdy enough.......but if a child actually tried to sit on it, like most doll furniture, it probably would not hold up well.
I have the bed and it is wood, not plastic. The only think I would worry could be the canopy part. Although it is wood and very sturdy, if a preschooler sits on it, it could break since the canopy is made of three wooden kinda poles on top.
If your sure your son won't sit on the top of the bed, I think it's an excellent buy. This bed and Felicity's are my favorite beds. Plus I think this is a wide bed which means two dolls could fit on it.
Oh, I almost forgot, I did add a headboard cause the bed doesn't have a headboard and I like to put the pillows upright. I just used very hard cardboard and painted it white and it looks as if it were part of the bed.
LOVE the bed. It's very sturdy and well put together. It's colorful which looks good against he white of the wood. Rory loves it to death and I am still wishing to have an adult sized one. Love the use of orange and purple.
