*Kit wore this outfit in the movie/DVD Kit Kittredge: An American Girl.*Kit's Reporter Outfit comes with a white dress, white socks, red Mary Jane shoes, and a plastic red headband. The dress is white with springs of blue, red, and yellow flowers. The cap sleeves have keyholes with pre-tied, permanent red bows. The bodice of the dress has red bias trim. I found the bodice to be rather long. The skirt is also long. Compared to the birthday dress and spring play dress, this dress seems large. Perhaps it was made for Kit to grow into? The socks are plain, ankle-roll socks. Very serviceable. The Mary Jane shoes are thin and red, but the interiors are white so they (hopefully) shouldn't stain. They have little white whirl decorations on the toe. The headband is transparent red plastic. It's made large enough that a child probably won't break it trying to get it over a doll's head in play. Grade: B ETA: I thought it was too long and the belt was oddly placed. So, I had my mother remove the belt and shorten the dress to match the length on Kit's Birthday Dress. The finished result:

I love this dress on Kit. It is not too tight - I put her undies on underneath it. It is perfect with her coloring. My favorite part of the outfit are the adorable red shoes. They are a perfect example of great AG shoes.
The socks are a bit big, so you have to play with them a bit while getting the shoes on. The rollover can cover the extra bit.
The headband is the only thing I do not like. It does not fit on Kit's head well. I wish AG had used a fabric headband/ribbon instead.
This is an outfit that is worth the full price. It is versatile and looks great on Kit.

I really like the print of this dress, and the red accents. I also agree with green chile supergirl that this dress is too long - if I had any seamstress abilities at all, I'd modify it. But I don't - so it will have to stay long for the time being. Our headband is quite tight, and if I don't get it on just right - it shoots like a rocket off of the top of Kit's head. The shoes are absolutely perfect! Overall, I still give this outfit an A! D~

I received this outfit as a gift from my MIL for Christmas 2009. I think it looks really cute on Kirsten and overall give it an A.

This is one of my favorite outfits in Kit's collection. I love the color red and this outfit makes me happy. The red shoes are horribly cute. I also like that the socks are thicker than most.

My one complaint about this dress is that the headband is too big for the doll's head. But I love the dress and the shoes. It's one of my favorites for Erin (#35) but Kit looks cute in it too! Kit in the dress: *MOD EDIT to remove member's dead image links*

Dress: I really like the red accents and the keyhole cap sleeves. The shape of the dress is adorable. I think I thought the colors of the pattern, though, would not be so... primary. I would have liked them to maybe be deeper or a shade off from red/blue/yellow, especially with so much of the red vs. a tiny print which makes the colors look less noticeable. I think that is a personal preference thing, though. I didn't really compare it to any of her other dresses, so didn't have a complaint about the length, but it still doesn't bother me after that was pointed out. Grade: A-Shoes: I love the detailing. I'm being picky but I think I would have liked the strap/buckle placed a little closer to the toe on the shoe. They occasionally look like soft baby shoes to me. But, they are cute and I think that could be the effect of the socks (I am very anti-sock in my personal life so I often think they look odd, lol). Grade: A-Socks: Standard AG bobby socks. The material feels nice, and they fit well. Grade: AHeadband: Yuck. It's very obviously plastic and doesn't sit right on her head. I think AG should stick to fabric headbands instead of hard ones because I've never had a hard headband (like this one, or the one that came with the Frosty Party outfit, etc.) fit a doll's head well. The fabric ones can stretch and assume the shape of their skull. The color matches, but I just wish it fit better. Grade: COverall Grade: B+

Like other reviewers have mentioned, I find the dress to be way to long. My dolls always look like they're swimming in fabric. I wasn't crazy about this dress, and my opinion about it hasn't changed much. The hairband is plastic and I can't get it to fit right on Kit. The plastic seems cheap, and it reminds me of the plastic used for cheap accessories/headbands for girls that are sold with a matching barbie doll. Very Mattel-ish. Other than the length, the dress is very cute and I like it a lot. The design on it is adorable, but I wish it would fit better! The socks are...well, just socks. And I really don't have much to say about the shoes. They have this really interesting white swirl on them, which looks so cute with the dress. There is velco on the sides, and the quality is similar to Kit's other shoes. Overall, I give this outfit a B+

I don't know if it is because we have one of the chubbier 2000 Kit dolls, but the length of this dress was not an issue at all. This is one of my favorite dresses from Kit's collection, and gets an A from me.
