Chrissa Maxwell is the Girl of the Year for 2009.
Her doll has light blue eyes, brown straight hair, and the Josefina face mold. She is not photogenic at all. I haven't seen another doll who takes such terrible pictures but is adorable in person.
Her meet outfit consists of a pink and purple faux wrap dress (it actually Velcros in the back), purple glittery shoes, a green bracelet, and a pair of purple undies.
I fell in love with Chrissa when I saw her in the store. Her biggest flaw is her inability to look good in pictures. A very close second is a very thin wig. Parts of the netting show through if you aren't careful with hair placement just behind where her middle part ends. Her hair is a little too short to make it easy to style in a lot of ways.
Her meet outfit is cute, but sparse. She needs some sort of accessory for her hair. I'd willingly trade in the bracelet for some barrettes, clips, a headband, or something for her hair.

The "Josefina" face mold is my favorite so I was excited when I found out Chrissa would use that mold. She is a cute doll and I love the story and what she stands for, but she is just not a special "looking" doll in my opinion. She is cute enough though! The meet outfit is disappointing. I wish it came with a hair accessory, leggings, even socks. Just something more. The shoes are really cute and the dress is cute enough. I think it needs leggings and some sort of hair pretty. I give Chrissa a B. PS. DD had Chrissa's hair styled at the doll salon so it is not in it's original style, but close enough.

I give Chrissa an A because she is very pretty and I love her Meet Outfit and I do not give her an A+ because it will be hard to style her hair. Here is a picture of her and her Meet Outfit: (removed broken image)

I wanted to add a couple pictures of Chrissa in something other than her sparse meet oufit. Once you get her into different clothes I think she takes on a whole new look. The pictures make her hair seem alot darker than it actually is in person. She's an adorable doll. I bought her with this month's discount on the doll and the $5 shipping so for that price I will give her a B+. The meet outfit just really doesn't rate giving her an A. The little bracelet she comes with, I am still trying to figure that thing out. It makes no sense whatsoever. Tiny little scrap of grossgrain ribbon with printed flowers on it and some velcro. No socks, no tights, no undershirt/turtleneck. Something's missing that could set the meet outfit off better.

Just got Chrissa for my birthday! She has awesome coloring, the blue eyes and dark brown hair is my absolute favorite. I also love her face shape being like Elizabeth, one of my other favorites. However, with all that said, her hair is just too short to do anything with. I agree with the PP who commented on how thin it is also. It would have been fantastic for her to have hair like #25, that straight, really dark hair. The meet outfit, while it is still on her at the moment, is much too old-fashioned for a "modern" girl. This dress seems as though it could have been made for KIT!! The shoes are really cute though! I plan to change her into something much more casual, more befitting a girl hanging out with llamas. In my doll display, she is holding Starburst and it looks strange to have her so dressed up to be caring for animals I will update after I attempt to get her hair into some sort of half pony and a cool jeans outfit on her. I think she'd look fantabulous in the Sparkly Jeans & Tunic outfit but I don't have that one...guess it's time to start searching ebay! Overall Grades: Doll B+, Meet Outfit C- (would have been a D if the shoes were ugly too)

Curiouser, I think Chrissa looks beautiful in your photos. Not photogenic!? If only I were so non-photogenic!!! I love her meet outfit. Her eyes are a different blue than the blue eyes in my Kit and #23--their blue eyes are much darker. The lighter blue (a new AG eye color!?) makes them very striking, especially in photos. I give her an A-, only because my particular Chrissa has a little glue bump in the front edge of her wig. FarmhouseGirl snipped it off carefully with some tiny scissors and the remaining much smaller bump doesn't really bother me now. Here are my Chrissa pics so far.

Chrissa arrived today... and I have to say I'm in LOVE with her coloring, which is making me want a JLY with dark brown hair & blue eyes. However, this particular doll could use some improvements, and I may be sending this doll back to AG. Her wig has some flyaway hairs that I can't tame, and her left eye is ever so slightly off-center. (See pics) UPDATE: I've gotten another Chrissa and sent her back due to wig issues, so now I'm on my 3rd Chrissa. She seems to be hit and miss when it comes to quality. So here's the new girl: See for yourself: So far, through my inspection, this one looks like a keeper. mod edit to remove dead photo images

I recently purchased Chrissa, minus meet outfit, from a board member here. Love the Josefina face mold; probably would not have purchased her if she had the classic mold. Her coloring is striking! Her bright blue eyes creep my roommate out a little, though. I'm not 100% happy with her hair. It's a bit thin and the length is a smidge awkward to do a lot of hairstyles with. It looks just fine down, however. The hair is really my only (minor) quibble with the doll, though. I give the doll A-. Here's some pictures of my Chrissa (rechristened Robin) in modern clothes. I can't wait to get my Kit and Molly outfits out of storage and put her in those.

I got Chrissa last week and I adore her. Shen is my 2nd favorite doll and is very cute. She has beautiful blue eyes and I love her hair because it look my hair expect she's is darker and I have a side part. I love her meet outfit, but it needs someting like a headband. I am a dress person and this dress is my favorithe ever from ag. Chrissa's books and movie are awesome and really set a good example for girls. I give the doll a A and the meet outfit a B+.

I received my Chrissa doll today, and I have to say that I am very pleased with the doll that was sent to me. I was prepared for disappointment, since Chrissa seemed to be very hit and miss -- much more so than other dolls with the Josefina mold. Some things I've noticed with this face mold are a noticeable difference in the size of the eye sockets between one another (like with the Julies I was picking through in November 2008 at a Boutique&Bistro -- they all had one eye socket larger than the other, you could see the white part of the eye below the iris, rather than the bottom of the iris being flush with the lower rim of the eye), and several seem to be a bit cock-eyed. On top of these, Chrissa also seems to have problems with her wig being thin.
My Chrissa's eyes are perfect enough in my opinion, and her wig is great. It's plenty thick, and doesn't have to be laying 'just so' to cover her wig cap. She also has nice coverage around the rim of her wig, so pulling the front of her hair back (since its not long enough to do much else with) shouldn't be too much of a problem. She also has more, and much darker face paint than the Julie and Nellie I got in late 2008.
I don't like Chrissa's meet outfit much, at least not while its on her. I just don't think it does anything for her. I like Chrissa better in clothing other than that dress, and I like the dress better on dolls other than her. In fact, I put it on Ivy and it looks great with her coloring. I think the shoes are quite ugly, but I think they'd look nicer with a pair of jeans.
Doll + Meet Outfit: B- Doll minus Meet Outfit and in other clothing: A- (the hair length and lack of clipped hairs in the wig for cap coverage whilst in pigtails drag the grade down a bit) Meet Outfit: C+ (just average, its really nothing to write home about).

I just received my Chrissa Yesterday at the American Girl place in Na-tick, Boston! She is a very beautiful Doll! She has gorgeous Blue eyes and when you put some blue clothes on her, her eyes just pop! Her Wig is very Difficult to put Two single Braids in, other then that she has very pretty hair. Her Meet outfit is really cute. I love the little flower on the other side. Her shoes are really cute and really sparkle, But I wish they were Velcro then "Slip-on". Only because they are difficult to put on. You eventually get used to them. I also love the Josefina face mold. I Give this Doll an A+!

I, too, LOVE my Chrissa doll. I think overall she is just gorgeous. Her blue eyes are striking and I love the Josefina face mold. Her hair has a few different shades of brown mixed throughout (lowlights?), which adds a nice touch to her otherwise thinnish hair. I do wish it were a bit thicker, especially in the back. I had a tough time styling it at first. It was frustrating going from Elizabeth's long hair to Chrissa's shorter length. Now I love that a simple clip to the side is all it takes to make her look great. I am disappointed in her Meet Outfit. The dress is okay, but nothing great. The shoes are very cute. I love the sparkles. Even after watching her DVD, the dress just looks out of place and not very modern. Don't get me wrong, the dress is cute enough, just not right for Chrissa or a modern girl. She would have done better with something blue. Oh, and in the DVD she is wearing a turtleneck and leggings with her dress. I think the doll should have had those as well. You can see from another post that leggings look great with the dress. Overall rating - A- Doll - A Meet outfit - C Really the outfit is an easy fix and I wouldn't trade my Chrissa for anything!

I LOVE my Chrissa doll (now Amelia), but I wasn't too thrilled about her meet outfit from the photos.
In person, the meet outfit is pretty nice, I thought, though not something she'll ever wear. The little bracelet thing - I'm not sure what the point of it is? It's just a piece of cheap ribbon with velcro on it, so I'm not sure where they were going with that. Aside from that, I feel like she needs leggings, tights, or something to go under it - it's just missing something, and I'm not sure what. A headband might have been nice, too.
I really love Chrissa's hair - that's a lot of the reason I decided to get her, since she's one of the few dolls with shorter, more manageable hair.
Overall, I'd rank her an A, with the doll being ranked: A+, outfit: B

My daughter got a Chrissa doll yesterday for her birthday. My aunt gave it to her. She had purchased it back in May when we got the free ship code. My daughter loves her and sees no problem with her eyes but it is so obvious that her right eye is pointing to the right instead of straight forward. She is still pretty but she looks like she has a lazy eye. I did call CS and I am sure they will send me another doll once I can get a hold of my aunt's billing information I just did not have it with me today.

Our first Chrissa had a wonky eye on one side and had a terrible astigmatism. She looked pretty sad! A call to CS got everything straightened out (literally) and we got a good-looking doll very quickly. Good luck!

Don't know if it's too late to had my 2 cents, but...we also had a Chrissa with the same problem. As reported, seems like an issue with the Chrissa. Anyway, long story short. I felt the same about sending away Chrissa, since we had bonded with her. But one day while in the store with her and showed her to the management and they said yup, she had a defected eye, and they would be happy to fix her up and it was only the cost of shipping, $6.95 plus tax. And my DD was ok with it, she's 9. She also loved the hospital gown so I think that helped We're waiting for her return and looking forward to welcoming her back home. So I guess, my point is...when and if you want to you'll know it's time. Good Luck whatever you decide.

A while ago on the ag website, someone said they kept getting Chrissa dolls with lazy eyes. So, I decided to pick one out at the ag place since so many people have that problem.

I caved and ordered Chrissa with Gwen thinking that, if I was going to buy them both anyway, I might as well save a little by taking advantage of the Friends Collection discount, not to mention that shipping two dolls together is $25-30 cheaper than two separate lots of shipping would be. I have to agree with all the others who said that Chrissa is not photogenic at all... I am sitting looking across at my doll and she is SO much prettier in person than I can show with my camera, no matter how much I fiddle with flash/no flash, lighting and camera angle. I haven't really played with Chrissa's hair except for spritzing and brushing gently... she had some frizzies and short flyaway hairs when I took the hair net off. She has the cutest tilt to her head. I think her shoes are the best part of her outfit. There is nothing WRONG with Chrissa's meet dress, exactly. The fabric feels nice and the dress is quite nicely made: the skirt is even lined. It's just that it's ... meh. As others have said, it needs something... anything, really....more. Leggings... jeans even (I see one of the illustrations in the book has Chrissa wearing jeans under the dress). And the ribbon bracelet thing... WTF is with that?! I think she should have had a bandana like the ones she and her friends made in the story. I'm very glad I caved and bought her. If you are on the fence, as I was... go get her before she disappears

I bought Chrissa because I loved the movie and I thought it would be a good idea to buy her before the end of December. I love her creative personality! Dress: "A" because it's lined! And Chrissa looks great in pink. Shoes: they're cute and would look great with jeans, but just don't coordinate with the dress. Chrissa herself: While I love Chrissa, I did find some minor flaws. 1) her hair is shorter than I expected (I thought it was going to be 1/2 inch to an inch longer) but I like that she has the cute flip to it. 2) she has a slightly "lazy" left eye although it's not too noticeable. 3) when standing upright, her entire head is downcast. I'm assuming this is the new trend with the AG dolls, though...

I received Chrissa for my birthday and am very pleased with her { new favorite }! Aside from how sparse it is, the Meet outfit is very lovely. I loved the sparkly purple shoes but have to say they are hard to slip on and off. The dress, which I might add looks wonderful with the Licorice Play outfit leggings, is a very pretty peachy-pink color. Chrissa has the Josefina face mold and big beautiful blue eyes. Her eyebrows are "feathered"- like Mia's. I have to agree with what some are saying: Chrissa is really not the most photogenic doll. She is ten times prettier in person. Back to Chrissa's looks, my main complaint with her is that her wig is very thin. Other than that, I love her! A pic of her:

I have yet to post pics of my Chrissa. I have to say that I was expecting a little bit more, but I'm growing fonder of her little by little.
Her eyes are blue / dark periwinkle to me, they have a hint of lavender in them. They are pretty but can be very striking. Her wig could be better. It is definitely darker on the top, lighter at the bottom. Mine does not have that little "flip" at the ends, it is mostly straight. Hair is thick, but it is scarcer on the sides than it is on the back.
I really love her meet dress. It is well made and lined, very feminine and colorful. Her shoes are cute. The bracelet does absolutely nothing to me. She could very well use a hair accessory.
In my personal opinion Chrissa IS photogenic because she looks really cute on the pics, but not as stunning in person. (But that is just what I think).
I would give her a B.

I was not into Chrissa at all, But then I saw this one for sale from another board member and thought I'd give her a shot. She arrived yesterday and is everything I could have hoped for. Absolutely darling! So I thought I'd add another picture for those of you on the fence about her. Get her while you can. My only caveat is that her wig is a little thin.

My Chrissa is a BEAUTIFUL girl! She looks good in black and white pictures. I don't like her meet outfit - i think it needs leggings or something. It's very boring - C+. The doll itself is an B+. She has loose hairs and is slightly off somehow. I haven't figured out how to put on a picture yet, but i'll update this post when I find out.

After looking at Chrissa all day, I can finally see what everyone is saying about her. Pictures do NOT do this girl justice as she is quite stunning in person. The meet outfit definitely would be cuter with leggings, tights, or jeans underneath. In fact, the picture I am posting has the jeans from a retired outfit (daughter's idea). Her hair is quite thin and I noticed tonight when I put it into two low ponytails, you can see the wig cap in the back..plus she has a lot of stay hairs. I hope her hair will eventually straighten out, but overall she's a beautiful doll. Meet Outfit: B+ (shoes are hard for my daughter to put on) Hair: A- Overall: A- (forgot to mention that our Chrissa is rather 'plump'!) (mod edit to remove broken image link)She looks great in blue & purple!

As you can see from the pic in my siggy, dd received Chrissa for Christmas this year. It was a total surprise for her and she was very excited! We love Chrissa! She is beautiful and her limbs seem to have just the right amount of tightness. DD plays with her a great deal. I do think her meet outfit would look great with some lavender leggings, but dd doesn't seem to care. All in all a wonderful doll and well worth the money.

My Chrissa was purchased in April 2009, and I absolutely love this girl, despite some wig problems. Her meet dress is cute; it's a pink floral faux wrap dress. I'm not too big on this dress on Chrissa, but it's adorable on other dolls. The shoes are a little snug fitting and hard to get on and off. I give the dress an A+, but the shoes a B+Taylor in the meet outfit: I love Chrissa's dark hair and blue eyes; that has to be one of my favorite combinations. However, her wig is a little thin in the back and you can see the wig cap in some places. As other members have said, she has little fly away hairs that make hairstyling a little bit tricky. Overall, I give her an A, but the wig a B

I have to disagree with you guys. I think Chrissa is more appealing in pictures. She is a beautiful doll. I bought her last December. In some outfits such as her meet outfit Chrissa looks dull and her hair looks frizzy. With the right lighting and clothes, she takes beautiful pictures. She has piercing blue eyes and they are such a perfect contrast to her dark brown hair. Her hair doesn't look good up. I agree. It sticks out and it is thin. I usually use clips in the front. Chrissa looks good in blues and greens to bring out her eyes. With everything in place Chrissa is one of my favorite dolls to photograph. Sorry I don't have any pictures to show. I take them from my inernetless phone. Howerever, saving up to buy a camara.
