This outfit was introduced in 2008 and retired in 2010 with Felicity's archival.
AG description: Felicity dreams of wearing this beautiful gown to a holiday ball. Made just for her from berry-colored brocade fabric, it features a contrasting gold panel, plus delicate lace and sparkly jewels on the bodice. A cream lace cap with berry ribbon trim gives Felicity a merry manner.
Felicity has a beautiful red and gold gala gown. It comes with a matching gold lace cap with red ribbon.
The dress is lovely, but I wish it was in multiple pieces. It is one complete piece. Even the lace around the neck is attached. Also, it is a bit snug on my PM Felicity.

Hmm I don't have much to add on this, I like the color, not snug on my pm doll. However it did leave ugly pink stains on the back of Felicity's legs. It's always red that I have a problem with =/

Gala Gown: I would give this dress a B I like it better in person than in photographs. It is a lovely red color and has pattern going down in vertical lines. The petticoat is gold. The dress is all one piece. It comes with a lacy mob cap and it has a red ribbon on it. It is a pretty dress, but I hate the huge, plastic jewels. It would be an A+ if those weren't stuck on the front. They're not very historically accurate. They don't look too bad, but I'm not a fan of them. I'm not sure if they can be removed or not.

This dress is STUNNING! Pictures do it no justice! It comes with the red dress and the cap.
The dress-A+: It is so pretty! The detail is amazing! The fabric is so quality! No complaints! The cap-A+: I was surprised at how lacy and soft it was! So amazing!
All-in-all...A+++++++!
By the way...it costs $28!
After notes: It doesn't come with shoes, but the shoes from Elizabeth's Holiday Outfit look like they were made for this outfit!

I do not like this dress at all. I only got it because I like to have all of the dresses for each character I have. But what a waste.
First, this dress seems a little to frilly for a middle-class colonial girl. I do not think that Felicity would have owned such an item.
Second, I hate those ugly plastic jewels on the front. They aren't historically accurate and do nothing for the outfit.
Third, the dress (like many of the ones AG still produces for Felicity) seems to short length wise. It falls at an awkward, unattractive length. Not at all like the older outfits and a few of the newer ones.
Fourth, the colors don't look so hot on my M Felicity, in my opinion.
Fifth, the dress is all one piece! How cheap!
The cap seems all right, though very fragile and it appears to be prone to snagging (though mine hasn't - yet).
I would like this dress a lot better if the dress came in separate pieces and if those horrid jewels weren't there. And if the dress was a little longer.
So: Dress: D In conclusion, this is an all right dress with a few features that make me really dislike it. AG should have done a better job on this one.

I LOVE my Lissie's Gala Gown! I bought it last year during their Free Shipping promo. The pics in the catalog don't show it off very well. It is also a Tad snug on my PM doll. I don't like red very much on a red head, but the basic look of teh dress is like the one Belle wears in the Disney Beauty and the Beast Christmas movie! So It was a MUST have, so Felicity could be Belle! LOL Though I need to make sure the dye in the dress hasn't stained her legs!

Step 1: Remove the fake Jewels! There are 2 stitches, one at the bottom, one at the top, on each nasty jewel. The stitches attach the lace to the gown also. Once they are gone, the whole piece breaths a sigh of relief and moves much more fluidly. When the jewels are removed, the dress becomes actually bearable. Step 2: Put her pocket hoops on, this dress needs them. Step 3: Pair the dress with the oddly shaped shoes from Elizabeth's gown. It works, trust me. Step 4: For pity sake, center her cap and lace! Well, as you can see behind my Felicity, it was a bit of a rough and tumble day in Addy's house. No wonder the poor doll's mob cap is cockeyed!

This dress looks great on Elizabeth. I think she'll be wearing it a lot more than Felicity will. I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would. The dress is made of a thick brocade-like fabric, and the mob cap is a very light, delicate gold lace. The lace is what really sold me on the quality of the outfit.

I bought this dress in August with my Birthday money. I agree it is not historically acurate. But the dress is way too pretty not to own. I love it! Here is lissy wearing it.. I think it clashes a little with her hair.. But it is very pretty. A great addition to my clothing collection for my girls.

I actually really like this dress, which is surprising because I didn't expect to. I thought it was too short, and the jewels and shiny red fabric put me off. But DD wanted it, so it was purchased before the archival and arrived at Christmas. And... I like it! The fabric is much thicker and richer looking than I was expecting, and the lace cap is great. I was planning to remove the jewels, but DD likes them and they're actually not so bad in person.
So.. I give this a B. A lot of girls will like the princess-y nature of the outfit, but adults/collectors will like it too. Both Felicity and Elizabeth look good in this outfit, and it's worth getting if you can find it at a reasonable price.

This dress is really pretty. I love the colors and the fabrics. And I love or maybe even adore the lace cap. It's beautiful with the lace and ribbon and gold thread. I don't have her summer lace cap, so this one fills in there. (Confession time: the lace cap is about 95% of the reason I wanted this dress!) I got this outfit for Christmas, and Lissie has worn the cap about a dozen times since then, but today was the first time I had put her in the dress! Now that I have it on her, I like the colors on her a lot. The dress is too short (shorter even than the tea lesson gown) so I keep trying to pull it down to no avail.
But the jewels bug and may be going soon. Logics of why the jewels are WRONG aside, the scale is horrible. On a real person, jewels that big would be the size of grapefruits or something. What was Mattel thinking?
Dress: B, Cap: A+, Overall: B+

Just wanted to add a picture of my Elizabeth wearing the gala gown.. She wears it much more often than Lissie. She has fancier tastes and Lissie thinks it clashes with her hair.

The one Felicity outfit I do not like at all. The gown looks too bright and not what a young girl would wear. The jewels look faux and also inappropriate. D The cap is pretty though and I do like that.
