Released May 2009.
Bring Rebecca’s story to life! The Rebecca doll is 18 inches tall with a soft cloth body, and her movable head and limbs are made of smooth vinyl.
My only complaint thus far is that the Meet dress is a bit difficult to get on and off. The sleeves are tight and the velcro doesn't go down low enough in the back.

I just got back from the dallas store. I bought Rebecca. Her dress is actually nicer up close. The fabric is much more substantial. And the boots really look cute with it. The barrette is very plastic. I am afraid it might not hold up to any play or putting it on and off. I am going to take it off and keep it safe. Her hair is very thin in my opinion as compare to our #21, Julie, Ruthie, PM Sam and PM JOsefina. She really does not have enough rows of hair in my opinion. Any thoughts on this? I will try to get pictures tonight. But if you put her hair in pony tails, you would see scalp. There are short hairs, but not much. But the hair itself is gorgeous. It came with instructions on how to care for the curls. It seems curlier than Ruthie and thinner. Seems like it will be harder to keep nice. Luckily, this is my doll and not my dd's.

Rebecca came home with me today from the AG Natick store. She is gorgeous! Her eyes and hair make her such a unique looking doll. I love her and can't stop staring at her. I asked if her eyes were the same as Mia's and they told me that Rebecca's are different, that they're "a true hazel". I'll have to take comparison pictures later. Her meet outfit seemed a bit crumpled and untidy until I figured out it wasn't pulled down as straight as it would go. It looks really lovely on her. It's a rich shade of red and is a quality product. Her boots look much nicer with the dress in person than they do in photos. Alas, dear Rebecca does not come without flaws. Her barrette is as cheaply made as they come. I'm wondering why they even bothered giving her a barrette if they were planning to do such a poor job with it. While I was at the store, I noticed that almost every little girl carrying around their new Rebecca doll was on the verge of losing her littlebarrette~ it was slipping out of Rebecca's hair and just barely hanging on. My biggest disappointment is with her hair. While it is her best feature aesthetically speaking, it becomes one of her biggest flaws do to an incredibly thin wig cap. As in, you can see her wig cap in spots even while she's just standing there looking pretty. What she does have is an abundant amount of curls. I'm wondering if people will have similar problems with Rebecca as they did with Nicki's curls. I'm going to try to take more pictures of her wig cap and I'll post them at a later time. All in all, I give Rebecca an A for uniqueness and beauty, nice meet outfit, adorable accessories, and for her story. But I have to knock off huge points for the thin wig.

Obligatory Marisol/ Rebecca comparison photos: It seems to me that their hair color is near identical, despite the New York Times reporting that it is a new tone.

I bought Rebecca at AGPC on May 31, 2009. First off, I have to say that this doll is stunning. She is simply striking with her eye/hair combination. She has such a sweet face too. It's easy to fall in love with her. The curls are gorgeous, but like someone else said, she does have a thin wig. Here she is with her hair in two ponytails: lh5.ggpht.com/_mEnftRv15VA/SiNpEz0m4uI/AAAAAAAAA1o/Sv1ziH7A8Tc/s800/DSC01767.JPGThe meet outfit is lovely, a lot better than I expected. The material is heavy and soft, and the colors look beautiful on Rebecca. Overall, I give her an A-.

I just wanted to add that I think it is great that AG lined the inside of Rebecca's sleeves with a white material. I assume this is to prevent the red from the dress or the black from the cuffs from staining the doll's arms. Also, my barrette fell out of Rebecca's hair as I was taking off the hair net and it will NOT stay in. It will not close and it seems very fragile. My Rebecca's hair was very wild when I first took her out of the box, but I was able to style her hair into banana curls.

Apart from the sleeves/cuffs being a little tight, I've got no gripes or complaints about the meet outfit. The hair clip does seem a little cheap, but mine is having good luck staying put, so far, and I don't intend to take it out unless I want to do something different with her hair.
As a doll, Rebecca is really beautiful - her eyes, the Josefina face mold and her curly hair are what all drew me to her - I feel like she's a very unique looking doll, and a great addition to the historical girls.
Overall: A Doll: A+ Outfit: A

I am so happy with my Rebecca. I'm thrilled that she has the Josefina mold, which I like considerably more than the classic mold. I am a bit concerned about her thin wig and her curls; I worry that I will mess them up. I have to steel myself to not touching her hair! Rebecca's meet outfit is really pretty! I bought her school outfit too, but I don't want to take her out of this jaunty red dress. I'm thankful that the sleeves are lined; I've had bad experiences with dolls getting stained by AG's red items. After reading the reviews on this thread, I decided not to take out my Rebecca's barette. It does look nice in her hair, but it is clearly pretty cheap plastic. Rebecca has the standard Molly/Emily/Samantha/Kit underpants. We will probably never learn why she and her fellow dolls put their undies on outside their tights. Here's Rebecca with Nellie. Same face mold, but I think they look quite different from one another. It's hard to see in this picture, but it was clear to me that Samantha's middy boots are a different color than Rebecca's. Samantha's are a true white, whereas Rebecca's are more of an eggshell color. Rebecca is a lovely doll, but she really doesn't look like the book illustrations. In fact, her cousin Ana looks more like the doll, with its lighter-colored hair. Unlike others on this thread, I am a total beginner when it comes to fussing with doll curls. I returned Nicki because I couldn't deal with her hair. I managed to get Rebecca looking a bit better- when I got her, the curls on her left side were tightly coiled, but the ones on the right were looser and more sparse. She does look better now, but I do wish I knew how to do banana curls like katieshc. Grade: A-

i just got rebbecca in the mail on friday!!! I am super happy !!! I was kinda sad her wig is so thin. But my biggest disapointment was her eyes. I thought they said they were hazel. Her eyes are green ! I had a premattel 21 and her eyes were hazel. beckie's are green! they are the same as my felicity's. But i will say she is the loveliest AG doll i own next to samantha, but sam to me is a different level of lovely. beckie reminds me of the warner bro. version of the little princess. thats what i think of when i see her. she is my little princess!!! I havent removed her clothes yet or her hair clip. I plan on making her some clothes soon. My great great grandmother Anna had the same hairstyle in 1914 and she was around the same age as beckie and was a austrian imagrant who's family was settling in America. so i can relate to Beckie!

Rebecca arrived at our house Friday night. She really is lovely, even more so than in the AG online store photos. In most of the pictures I took of her, her eyes are hazel. One close up with the flash made her eyes look green, though not as bright and unnaturally green as our Felicity's eyes. (No complaints because we do love our Felicity).
Her meet dress is beautiful and well made. It does take some work to get the sleeves over her hands when removing the dress, but it's not a major problem. Love the boots.
Her hair was in a net in the box, and the left side (her left) of her hair was flat compared to the bouncy curls on her right. I could not get the flatter side as bouncy as the other without lightly misting and putting curlers in - but once they were dry and the curlers removed, her hair was full of bouncy curls. I'm going to have to read up on all the recommendations for working with curly hair.
My favorite to this point had been my 8 yr old daughter's Josefina. I have to admit that Rebecca has stolen my heart. It's a very close tie, as I love them both!! Rebecca is a very special doll and I'm more than pleased that she's here!!

I love this doll - the prettiest AG has made IMO. Anyway, I'll post comparing pics for now: Doll and outfit: A+++ Both are very high quality and lovely.

Rebecca's a beautiful girl, and I couldn't be more happier with her! Of course, it's rather difficult for me to leave negative feedback because a bangless brunette with hazel eyes is one I've been wanting for so long. I was going to customize one myself, but then we get Rebecca! So, like I said, it's hard to criticize a long-awaited-for doll. Like others have said, Rebecca's eyes are the exact same as Mia's. They look a bit greener than my older #21's, but that could just be my eyes playing tricks on me. Her hair looks to be about the same shade as Marisol's, but is noticeably shorter/curlier. The curls seem like Nicki's, although I've yet to see a Nicki in person to confirm this. It intimidated me at first, as one side was definitely less curly than the other, but, since my own hair is rather similar, I've gotten used to it. I've finger-curled her hair into larger sausage curls, put it into a side ponytail, etc, and the curls have held up. I reset them occasionally when they are getting mussed, but I generally care for them with a hair pick, a water spray bottle, and a bit of braid spray. I've even brushed her hair, usually before I put curlers in. However, I always wet the hair before I brush. The ends of her hair are a teensy bit dry now, but in general, I am pleased with how they have held up. I'm not so scared that I'll lose the curls anymore, as her hair re-curls very easily. Rebecca's meet outfit is one of the cuter ones. I like the burgundy/maroon color and the low waisted style of the 1914 era. The tights are black and not ribbed like Samantha's. The underwear is the same underwear that Sam, Nellie, Kit, Ruthie, Molly, and Emily wear. Her boots are cute and are a lot like Samantha's summer boots, except Beckie's have velcro and are more of a cream color. The gold, plastic barrette is cheap, but no cheaper than Kit's meet barrette, in my opinion. I haven't had problems taking it in and out of her hair. Overall, I give Rebecca an A. No + because her hair can limit her playability. Pictures: This is her right out of the box, messy curls and all: I customized her with a light dusting of freckles across her nose and cheeks, as you'll see in these photos:

I finally bit the bullet and ordered Rebecca with the code a few weeks ago. Oh my gosh, I am so glad I did! She's absolutely gorgeous. I adore her stories and at first I wasn't sure about the doll, but she is even more beautiful in person than in the pics. It is true that her wig is a little thing and I had to re curl her hair out of the box because it arrived messy, but otherwise the doll herself is beautiful. I love her meet dress also, and that was mentioned in the meet book, although the fabric was a bit thinner than I pictured. Her tights, shoes and barrette are fine- nothing special. All in all though, I give Rebecca an A+!!!

Rebecca is absolutely gorgeous! When I first saw her in the catalog, I didn't think much of her, but when I saw her on display at Books A Million, I just fell completely in love with her. Her dress is nice and heavy, good material, her shoes are so well made, the only slight problem I had with her was her hair arrived kind of messy. For me, Rebecca's more of a display doll than a play doll, mostly because of her hair. But she is still so beautiful and it's worth it to get her!

I just got Rebecca this week and I also experienced hair issues. It seems that the right side (when looking at her face) is not curled as much as the left, thus it appears longer than Rebecca's right side (the left side when looking at her face). I think this is because of the hair being pushed to her right (our left) side in the box. However, the curls do not seem to bounce back and match up with the other side, even with some water and finger curling The dress is fantastic though -- love the accuracy, the detail, and the BOOTS! LOVE the high-button boots; they are unique and versatile. I would give the doll a B and the outfit an A+!

Rebecca is a great additon to the Historica Line. A+ The hair and original Meet Dress are perfection. The hair clip is a big disapointment. It slips out of her locks. The dress is wll made, but, tight around the cuffs. They were hard to remove. The boots are perfectto the time period. I had to jump on board too. Rebecca is our new girl. There are 12 AG's in our family now. She is my doll, and I'm the only one who can play with her. I love this face and her hair is perfection. She has such a sweet look. I wish she had more period clothes. I am very happy she has lots of hats!

I love Rebecca. I personally went to pick her out and fell even more in love with her when I saw her in person. Her hair is high maintenance but lovely all together. I'm glad that her hair isn't thick because i feel the thicker it is, the more trouble it would be. The doll's face is beautiful. I love the Josefina mold and think with her hair/eye color combo it looks gorgeous. The outfit is nice, I really love the dress. The fabric on the dress is made out of a sturdy fabric. The tights on the other hand could be a problem with small children. I recommend this doll to collectors and slightly older (more mature) children because of the hair and all of the delicate accessories. The hair clip broke the third day, I was so upset. It looks nice but is really made out of cheap plastic.
I give the doll and A but for small children a D-
Overall, I think Rebecca is a beautiful doll and she is easily becoming one of my favorites.

I owe (or blame) Rebecca for getting me back into American Girl. I bought Elizabeth Cole when she came out and loved her for as long as I had her, but had no desire to expand my collection to other dolls, not even Felicity. But then Rebecca came out and I fell in love with her story. I LOVE anything remotely Russian and her family being from Russia + being from the end of Imperial Russian time + being a new historical I just HAD to have her. And then I realized Elizabeth and Rebecca needed more sisters! Anyway I absolutely LOVE Rebecca. Her curls drive me nuts, I suppose I don't go for AG dolls with easy hair (not until I got Sam and Nellie could I actually ENJOY styling). Rebecca is a charmer and if you do not have her, but are a collector -especially of historicals- Ms. Rubin is a MUST HAVE! P.S. -Anyone tried putting her meet dress on Elizabeth? I had a feeling about it and tried it almost immediately. I think Rebecca's meet dress looks killer on Lizzie!! Try it, try it!

Review of nelliegirl's Rebecca: Rebecca is pretty but I personally don't like the Josefina face mold in light skin. I like her golden brown curly hair. Her hair gets messy easily and requires some time to get it back into shape. Her eyes are a unique color and really make her stand out.
Her meet outfit is really nice. The fabric of her dress is a little thinner than I expected. The collar and cuffs are soft velvet. The buttons are for decoration only but look nice against the red of the dress. Her bloomers are nicer than Samantha's but similar. Her tights are thinner than Samantha's and her boots velcro.
Grade: A-

Rebecca is a beautiful doll. She looks very young in my opinion, maybe around 9 or 10. Her wig seems a bit thin to me, but I don't really notice it. I love the colour of her hair, it's like a dark caramel with highlights. It also holds curl somewhat well, and her side part is adorable. Her eyes are gorgeous. On the other hand, one leg seemed to be longer than the other, and, as with most of the newer dolls, her head was tilting down at an extreme angle, and therefore points are knocked off. The limbs are a bit looser than I would have expected, too. Her meet outfit is cool, but I couldn't get it to fit her right. And, *although historically inaccurate*, I love her bloomers over her tights. Teehee! Rebecca is a wonderful doll and I love her stories, she gets an A from me, because of her legs+head angle. Her looks make up for it, though. It looks like I'll be sewing a lot MORE often now! You won't regret this girl! She is a beauty, and I plan on getting most of her collection.

My Mathilde (2009 Rebecca) is simply gorgeous. Her eyes are very spunky yet sweet, and her face just has a warmth about her. Mathilde's hair is very cute, but a little thin. The curls aren't as easy to manage as Lanie's because of that, but that's the only flaw I can find. She also has a weird stance to her, like her chin sort of dips down to her chest, but I find it kinda cute.
So yeah, an A for Mathilde/Rebecca!

I don't know what more I can add to the reviews here that has not already been said. My Rebecca's hair is thin as others have said and also has a few "crimps" in it. It doesn't bother me much but that cheep plastic barrette does! Whew that thing is horrible - I immediately removed it and put a nice big ribbon in her hair instead, and it is a huge improvement.
Lovely doll A, meet outfit A
