I didn't care for Rebecca a whole lot when she first came out, but after getting her for my birthday in September, she's become one of my favorites. Her hair and eyes are a beautiful combination, and her hair is so much fun to style, not too long and not too short. It's a little thin compared to other dolls, but I don't mind at all. I give her an A+!

Rebecca is one of the few dolls that truly garnered an "OMG" reaction from me. I love her, her dress is the most beautiful shade of crimson (also my favorite color!) and her boots are so adorable! She has a lovely complexion and the most delicate curls and soft hazel eyes. She just looks so sweet I don't know what I would do if she wasn't part of my collection! I got her a week after she came out, I simply couldn't wait for my birthday or a holiday, she was to beautiful (the first time I have ever not been able to wait!!!) Grade: A+

Rebecca is one of the most beautiful AG dolls hands down. She looks great in everything and I just adore her curls! Her wig is a bit thin, but the curls have so much volume, you definitely can't tell by looking at her. Her meet dress seemed a little awkward at first with the drop waist, but with a little adjusting, it looks really cute! I give her an A+!

I really love my Rebecca, or Becca as I call her. She's so sweet. Definitely one of my more reserved girls but not understated. She stands out in a crowd. A+

Does Rebecca have a more olive complexion than the other Caucasian dolls or does it only seem that way because of her hair/eye color?
I like the Rebecca/Chrissa and Rebecca/Nellie comparison photos. Does anyone have a Rebecca/Elizabeth or Rebecca/Julie close-up comparison shot? Or what about Rebecca and Samantha or Molly?

Rebecca could be my mini me, except my hair isn't as curly as hers is. She caught my eye one night while I was babysitting. The two girls and I were looking at their AG catalog, and when I turned the page and saw her, I immediately fell in love. it was one of those "I have to have her!" moments. At that time I couldn't really afford her since I was trying to save up for a trip to NYC, and then when I finally had enough money to go on my trip and to buy Rebecca while I was there, Kanani practically begged for me to bring her home instead. : So Rebecca stayed in New York. But as a surprise from my parents, Rebecca (along with Miss Nellie O'Malley) came to live with me this past Christmas. I couldn't have been more thrilled! I originally wasn't too fond of the color of her meet dress, but it's been growing on me ever since I took her out of her box. The sleeves are a bit hard to slide over her hands, but otherwise it's very nicely made. She doesn't wear it too often, as she favors her Hanukkah dress, but I have it safely packed away so that if she changes her mind and wants to wear it, it will be like new. I simply adore the color of her eyes. They're just very beautiful to me. Her wig is a little thin for my liking, but it's easy enough to take care of, so I won't complain too much about it. Here are a few photos that I snapped of her yesterday (for some reason, my dog likes my dolls and always lays down next to them...she must think they're little people or something, so she's featured as well):

I ordered and received Rebecca April 2011 and I'm so glad to have made that decision. She is the first doll I own to have the Josefina mold and I can't say she will be the last. I must have lucked out and gotten a Rebecca with an amazing wig. Her wig is thick and beautiful and doesn't take much to care for. The clip in hair, on the other hand, sucks. It doesn't stay in at all. Her meet outfit is great, I suppose. My dolls rarely wear theirs. Samantha, Ruthie and Rebecca sport it sometimes. It's a lot thinner than I thought it would be. Overall, I think Rebecca is a great addition to the historical line and a great addition to my little doll family. I give her an A+ and highly recommend her.

I got my Rebecca doll winter 2009 instead of Ivy. Mainly because of her hair. I love the Josie mold and it's great for Rebecca. She has greenish eyes and one has trouble closing sometimes and needs help shutting. She has always been like this, but I love her anyways. Her hair is extremely thin, and this spring I straightened it because I had lost intrest in her curls- and found her hair jaggedly cut. I assume so her hair would be fit evenly when curly? I love the " feathered " eyebrows and am glad Rebecca has them. Her meet is, well, defiantly NOT my favorite. The dress is a ugly maroon color and pathetically hard to put on. Her tights are probably the best fitting AG tights ever as they don't fall off her bottom. Her boots are alright - go on ok and are not to tight. The hair clip is broken ( has been for awhile ) so not much there. Overall I'd give the meet a B and the doll a A. Not a good doll for little girls. And I love my Becca!!!

A picture showing Rebecca and Ruthie. They don't look alike at all despite the curly hair. Rebecca's hair is thinner and much lighter.
The picture also shows Rebecca and Marie-Grace. Marie-Grace's hair has more golden highlights than Rebecca's.

I received Rebecca almost a year ago, last Christmas. The doll herself, I have absolutely no complains or anything with. My Rebecca has been turned into a modern mini-me named Kamryn, and I use her outfit as another dress for Nellie. Rebecca's dress and boots fit very snugly on PM dolls, the boots don't go on over tights, or at least for me they didn't. I mainly just wanted to post this because of her hair and I know everyone has had different experiences with her hair. Her hair is thing but the huge curls make up for it and add the look of volume and thickness to it. I can brush her hair with a regular doll brush, and the curls don't come out. In fact, every time I brush her hair, her hair gets MORE curlier. It's almost so curly I don't even know what to do with it and I'm contemplated on straightening her hair. Overall though, she gets an A because I don't really see any flaws with her unless you don't like curly hair!

I love my little Becky!! She was my first doll and I fell in love with her!! Her eyes and hair are so pretty together! Her curls are so cute although, they limit her playability. Her meet outfit is very nice and very early 1900s. This doll gets an A.

We are very pleased with ours so far, which we bought at the Tyson's Virginia store, aka DC Store.
This is my soon to be 8 year old's first American Girl Doll and she wasn't sure she even wanted one, so we said this doll will be Mommy's but if she likes it she can take it. She did fall in love with Rebecca and now Beckie is hers. We were torn between Marie-Grace, and Rebecca, and #55. My husband helped break the tie by pointing out Rebecca's story was close to that of some members of his family who immigrated from Eastern Europe around that time. The history buff in him also appreciated the era that Rebecca represents.
Her Meet story so far is fascinating and educational. Rebecca is a sympathetic character and easy to bond with and relate to, even if you are not Jewish. As the daughter of an Asian immigrant I can relate to her family adjusting to a different culture outside of their own.
The doll herself is beautiful. Our doll's wig seems full, but we do not have a basis for comparison. I can only say that we can not easily see the wig base in any of the styles we've tried so far. I've only seen it while combing and detangling, and the color match renders it almost invisible.
I did not get a proper comb until several days afterward so her hair got really messy, but the tangles smoothed out easily with about five minutes of my picking through it with the AG brand comb to remove snarls and then smoothing it slightly with the AG brush. I did not use water to mist it at that time.
Her hazel eyes were a huge selling point for me. They are very much like hazel brown-green eyes I've seen on real people. I prefer this style to the "pinwheel" look for that reason, but I do like both, overall.
The limbs might feel a bit loose. The next time I go to the store I'm going to handle more dolls to get a better feel for them. But she can stand and maintain poses.
I don't have pictures to share at the moment, sorry.
I forgot to add that so far we've not had any problems handling the barrette or other clothing items. But I agree the barrette seems brittle.
I'm sorry I forgot to assign letter grades: A for aesthetics, A for quality of the doll itself, A for clothing and accessories (but beware the barrette is fragile). A for representation of her era and place.

My Katia is one of my favorite dolls. She's been eyeswapped, but still has the same wig. She's Russian Orthodox and modern here, but here's a recent pic anyway. Feel free to poke around my Flickr (click on the link below). There are tons of pictures of her. Untitled by SkaterMichelle, on Flickr

Rebecca is gorgeous! I got mine last year for Christmas.
She is one of my few historicals that I dress in different time periods on a regular basis.

This gorgeous gal was handpicked by my DH on a trip to Boston (where he grew up). They probably don't see a whole lot of black-hatted, tzitzis-sporting Orthodox guys at the AG store, I betcha! I had tried to explain what I look for in a doll (no wonky eyes, good wig, tight limbs, yada yada), and when he got there he spent about an hour comparing and ultimately decided that this Rebecca had the most beautiful neshama ("Jewish soul"). She does have a certain glow about her, doesn't she?! She's here! by Toy Rose, on Flickr

I am NOT jewish. But you only need to go back a few generations to find some Orthodox in my family tree. One of my cousins converted when he married his wife. Rebecca is one of my absolute favorite AGs. She is definately one of the most beautifull dolls AG has ever created. these are some of my prettier pictures, that I was able to dig up.

Here are the best photos I could come up with for the hair comparisons. Unfortunately I'm currently limited to using the camera on my iPad. I lack the software to get photos from my good digital camera onto my iPad for upload and sharing. The color rendering on iPad is not the best but maybe you can see the tiny bit more auburn in Rebecca's hair in this pic: Here is the pic showing a hint more tawny gold in Marisol's wig. Marisol is on the left. Light is a mix of daylight through the window and a bit of lamp light: Here is Chrissa thrown in for extra hair color reference to compare the shades of brown

I've had Rebecca since 2010. I have only used her as a model for product photos and photo shoots (I love her nonetheless), but her hair has become brittle and dry though she has never undergone intensive play. I don't think I am quite desperate enough to do a downy dunk, perhaps I will re-wig her. Her hair color is lovely, but I'd love to see her in a darker wig (#30's or straightened Ruthie's?). Her eyes are just beautiful, they have sweet avocado-green and dark brownish specks that look absolutely fabulous. <3

I just purchased my Be Forever Rebecca and I absolutely adore her. I was worried shed be totally different from the Rebecca I fell in love with before the line turned into BeForever. And there are just minor differences. A week after I purchased my Rebecca my mom gave me a 2nd hand Rebecca pre BeForever. I was very curious about how they would be different so I thought Id add some photos here just in case you were curious too. I cant say much for the meet outfit. My Rebecca was always going to be modern. I stowed the outfit away in her box. I can say that the jacket is a gorgeous purple tweed and the shoes are like deep purple velvet and way better then the plastic shoes that came on my Samantha. It could be that my Rebecca's hair has to settle down from being in the box but pre BeForever seems to have longer hair. Its also just a little different coloring and wig type. But that could be age of my pre beForever. Their eyebrows are also different colors and my BeForever is a little chubbier in the face. *mod edit to remove dead image link*

Wanted to add a bit about my Rebecca! My husband gave me a Be Forever Rebecca for Christmas a few days ago which was wonderful, but I was so disappointed by how thin her wig was but, more importantly, that her eyes were different sizes and the right one was sort of pushed in so it looked like that eye looked down and to the right. Of course I was too scrambled with the holiday to take photos. :/ We went to AG Dallas and got a replacement but I had to look through every single Rebecca they had (maybe a dozen) to find only two that didn't have the same degree of eye issue. Because the first doll was shipped to us, I didn't expect to see the same eye issue in store. The one I wound up with, I absolutely adore, but even she has one eye slightly smaller than the other, which I don't see in most of the pictures people have previously posted in reviews. The second Rebecca's wig also seems a bit thicker but it may just be that her hair wasn't as scrunched immediately out of the box. Her legs are so tight she can barely sit but I figure that'll ease up in time. All in all, I do adore Rebecca and am so glad to have her in my collection. She's got such a cute little chipmunk face and I do think she's one of the prettiest dolls AG has ever made. I think she reminds me more of my Kanani than any other doll, certainly more than my other Josefina mold dolls. I just had not realized ahead of time that her eyes would have such an issue and would suggest taking a look if that's a thing you care about! Also her little gold hair clip is pretty terrible and her purple hat doesn't really go on her head. I find I like her purple dress more than I expected (except for the polka dots on the cuffs and collar; why??). It's much better quality than most of the other Be Forever clothes I've been buying lately. Her necklace and shoes are precious too. I still prefer her old meet outfit though. Gorgeous doll, eye issues aside! Eyes are similar enough it's not noticeable in pictures, and only in person if you are really, really looking. Curls about 15 minutes out of the hair net.

Rebecca is beautiful. I truly do think she is a doll that every collector should have, shes perfect. My version is Pre-BF. Hopefully BeForevers have better wigs, but if you buy her in person try to make sure her wig is good just in case.

I found my Rebecca on ebay with the full intent to customize her into a mini-me (I'd planned on buying a BeForever Rebecca with the darker hazel eyes to be my Rebecca), however, I fell totally in love with her. She was in great shape; I did wash and condition her hair (as it was a bit dry), and I did clean up her limbs with a magic eraser, but I didn't need to put that much work into her. She is an older Rebecca; she has the same exact hazel eyes as Mia and Lanie (I checked), and they're much lighter than #83. I do feel like the newer hazel is perhaps a bit more true to the illustrations than the older, brighter hazel, but she's gorgeous either way. She is, imo, one of the prettiest dolls AG has ever made; I love her curls. They're easy enough to maintain without worrying about finger curling. They brush easily. http://instagram.com/p/CCChNFwMPCu http://instagram.com/p/CDZ1RZIs4eV http://instagram.com/p/CD1fwqcMY6X http://instagram.com/p/CEMO1arMnna http://instagram.com/p/CF-Dw-2MuUO She looks good in just about everything, even modern clothes. Rebecca is close enough to be my mini-me without customizing (my eyes are more green and less hazel, and my hair is a little darker), so sometimes she fills that role for me: http://instagram.com/p/CF7jxZ6sW1P http://instagram.com/p/CCHZJPvMpwo I do still eventually want to get the BeForever version with the darker hazel eyes, though whether I'll end up with two Rebeccas, make one of them (a more true to canon) Ana, or finally make one of them into a mini me, I'm not sure.

I just got my Rebecca in the mail and... I am super iffy about her! I got her to celebrate my new job. I am also usually so excited to play with a new doll's hair, but yuck. Rebecca's hair is dry? Or oily? Sleek and yet straw-like? I can't quite figure it out. And it's a mess. I pulled it back so I could get some decent pictures of her. I definitely (sadly) intend to rewig her with an older-style one.
I like the look of her outfit and her accessories add something to her look. The barrette is the usual cheap plastic and will stay in her purse to keep it safe. The jacket is really cute with velvet accents and lovely buttons, and the underdress can easily be worn with other matching jackets/tops. Her purple velvet shoes are also lovely, but I prefer the pre-BF boots.
I have a love/hate relationship with her satiny hat (I feel like book-Rebecca would never wear that?).
Also, I ordered the "real" Rebecca book series unabridged and illustrated so I can get her complete story. I don't intend to read the new abridged version because I've heard it leaves out a lot of important information.
On the whole, I give her a C. I was really hoping for better quality (as we should) and not to have to do a wig-swap. I'm no longer near a store or I would have loved to pick her out in person!
