This dress and hat were introduced in 2009 and retired in 2018.
Cousin Max gives Rebecca a special surprise for her tenth birthday—a visit to a motion picture studio! Once there, Rebecca gets to wear this beautiful outfit, featuring: A high-fashion dress featuring ribbon rosettes on the ruffled chiffon bodice, an ombré sash, a fitted underskirt, and a handkerchief hem A flower-trimmed hat that was a birthday gift from cousin Max White T-strap shoes and a fleur-de-lis pendant necklace
The dress is pretty, but I can't get the hat to fit on Rebecca. It just balances on. Dress also comes with a choker and sandals.

Just thought I would add that this outfit has a very smooth velcro on it. I don't recall having seen this on any outfit before. It seems as though it will be much less snaggy, which I think is great, especially for an outfit made from these kinds of materials!

I liked this outfit a lot better in person, so I'm glad I got it, and am pretty pleased with it, except for the hat.
The hat (as the other posters have said), just SITS on her head - there isn't a way to fasten it on at all, which is kind of annoying and pointless, in my opinion.
Otherwise, hat-gripes aside, the dress is very nice, and I am appreciative of the soft/gentle velcro on the back, so there'll definitely be less snagging on it.
Overall rating: B+/A-

I think this dress is lovely on Rebecca. I wish they would have made her a pretty hair bow instead of the hat though... in theory its pretty but practically (as others have said) it does not fit Rebecca. Also, one side is slightly bend up and another slightly bend down. Just thought I would mention this because I called CS when mine arrived worried it had gotten squished in transport. The chocker is pretty and easy to put on. It opens/closes with velcro. I think the dress is pretty without the hat, and that is how my Rebecca will be wearing it! mod edit to remove broken image links

I bought this dress for Vesper (Sonali) to wear and the hat fits her head perfectly and feels quite secure on her. Maybe Rebecca's head is bigger than Sonali's head???
The dress is a gorgeous color with gold emblems on it and is a very unique design. I did remove Vesper's underpants because the fabric on the dress is sheer and when they were on there was a panty-line across her abdomen. I don't know if that is the case with Rebecca's undies.
I'm 100% pleased with it.

I like this dress. The colors ar beautiful and the shoes are darling. The necklace and hat are pretty as well. The hat makes a cute part of her collection, but it doesn't fit well, as others have said. One thing though... is it me, or does the inner skirt seem a bit tight? It's hard for Rebecca to sit in it. I wish they made the inner skirt wide like the outside one. It looks great on the doll though.
and for anyone who wishes this dress came with a bow, it looks great with the ribbon from Samantha's spring party dress.

The skirt is intentionally tight--in the 1910s, tight skirts known as "hobble skirts" were very popular. Also, I got Rebecca's hat to fit, but only if I tip it over her eyes. It makes her look "shy".

The hat does not fit my Rebecca well either.
The necklace is very pretty and easy to put on.
The dress is gorgeous and the fabrics are absolutely stunning. However, I do not like the lower skirt. It is way too tight. I do not think it is necessary IMHO.

I bought this outfit for my Rebecca when I purchased her, and waited until I got pics of her in it on my Poconos trip to share. There are pics in my albums. Check them out! Overall, this outfit gets an A+ for quality and history.

We're obviousy in the minority, but we were so disappointed with this outfit that we returned it. Initially, DD was unhappy because the hat doesn't really fit (a known issue, to be fair) and because she absolutely could not get the shoes on. I could get one of them on, but the other was very snug (picture twisting back and forth to try to get it on her foot) and the back of it kept folding down. What disappointed DD the most was the fact that her doll couldn't sit in the dress. The hobble skirt might be historically accurate, but the dress seems designed for the doll to stand in. It's beautiful, but it wasn't very usable so we chose to send it back.

HAT: As others have said, the hat doesn't really fit on Rebecca, but it looks nice when slightly tilted on her head. I have nothing against it. It is made of some foam-y ish material, and I am scared of squeezing it too hard. GRADE: A
DRESS: I think it is satin, and it is very pretty. Just don't sit Rebecca in it. GRADE: A
SHOES+CHOKER: The choker and its pendant seems small. I would have been happier if it was wider. The shoes are a nice, ivory colour. They are, although, very hard to put on. GRADE: A-, B
Overall, I am happy with this outfit. I think it is worth the price and is lovely on Rebecca. GRADE: A

I don't have Rebecca, so I haven't read the books, but from what I know of her character, this dress is extremely inaccurate historically!
She is an orthodox girl from an orthodox family, right? Even if she is struggling with that, an orthodox girl would *never* wear a sleeveless dress like this.
Also, most people don't realize this, but most orthodox Jews wouldn't wear a Fleur de Lys- I'm not entirely sure of the reason- but this is definitely something I had a visceral reaction to when I saw it. (as in- but she's meant to be Jewish- how could they put her in that)

I don't think Rebecca's family was orthodox. (Her grandparents maybe, but I'm pretty sure her parents were not)

I don't think Rebecca's family was orthodox. (Her grandparents maybe, but I'm pretty sure her parents were not) Pretty much every Ashkenazi European Jew in 1914 was what we would consider "Orthodox" today in their observance. Rebecca wore this dress for a movie scene as a costume, without her parent's knowledge or permission. She filmed the scene in the midst of a production crew that was almost entirely Jewish, including her cousin Max, an actor, and also very modern and American (women with short hair! *gasp*) She did not tell her family what she had done because she knew that they would be upset and horrified about the whole thing, not just sleeve length!

I A girl who has dressed modestly all her life and has learned the Jewish laws of modesty from a young age would not suddenly be comfortable walking around with a low neckline and bare arms. It's not just about parental control.

I just got this with free shipping last month. What on earth is the hat made out of? Only one person here has mentioned that it is some kind of foam-esque material that, in my opinion, is incredibly unattractive. It almost looks like it was made out of a styrofoam cup with some flimsy netting & fake flowers added! I haven't tried any of it on Rebecca yet, so I can't speak to the whole ill-fitting shoes/hat issue, but if you are feeling a little bit on the fence about this outfit, I'd really recommend trying to take a good look at it in person before committing so you can see how you feel about that hat material.
PS--Skukla, how did you do Rebecca's up-do in the photo with the pinwheel? It looks GORGEOUS!

Overall, I like Rebecca's Movie Dress. It's not my favorite, but still a good outfit. The bottom is a silky material with a lighter material on the top. It has a beautiful ribbon going around the waist, but it doesn't go all the way around. The ribbon has a pretty rosette on it. Unfortunately, you can't sit Rebecca in this dress. The bottom is kimono style, which makes it very tough to do much with her other than stand.
The flowers on the hat are very cute and realistic. I was slightly disappointing that the hat didn't have the flower going all the way around, but no big deal. The hat just looks awkward on Rebecca. It doesn't fit on her head and I find it very hard to get it on just the right tilt.
The dress seems very durable, I've had it 6 months and I haven't had any problems. For a child, this would probably be a fun set, minus the fact that Rebecca can't sit!
Overall, I think I got a good deal for my money. Grade: B+

We have had this dress for a while. It has snagged on everything, the dolls can't sit in it, the hat falls off/ or looks silly balancing on top of her head and gets dirty even when kept in a closet and is not used!! It looked sooo pretty on the AG site but is not an outfit that will last . . . C

As an adult collector I love this dress. I've had no problems with any of the pieces that the others have had. The hat is suppose to be worn at an angle and dipped down over one eye. I can't say if it's period correct, my area of expertise does not lie in fashion, but from all the shows I've seen the hat looks great. It stayed on just fine for me. I just had to add a positive review as this is one of my favorite outfits, time period, and dolls. It seems like a lot of the target age range doesn't know how to really style these outfits, but if worn correctly is a beautiful dress and hat.
