Love th' monkey jacket, but I wish th' skirt was really a skirt. It's described as a skirt on th' packaging, but, well, ye can see in th' picture. It's a skirt attached to an undershirt. I'd rather pay a few more lusty plastic lassars and get a separate skirt and shirt. In th' end it doesn't hurt th' monkey jacket, it just gives it less mix and match potential.
Love that this monkey jacket comes wit' a pair o' boots.

I picked this up at AGPLA today... loved it from th' start. I don't have Rebel Rubin, but th' boots be for Sam, and my modern girls will share th' monkey jacket.
My only problem wit' it was that th' buttons on th' sweater were really difficult to undo. I ended up pulling it over my lusty plastic lass's head. I'm thinking I missed something really obvious there.

This be my favourite o' Rebel Rubin's monkey jackets, so far, and th' only things I don't really like about it be that th' top/skirt be connected, and also th' buttons on th' cardigan be a little difficult to fasten and unfasten.
Apart from that, it's just a really bonny monkey jacket, and I love th' cardigan and black boots, especially.

Rebel Rubin's school monkey jacket be very bonny! I had read th' books prior to seeing th' album, and based on th' illustration, I was really dreading what th' monkey jacket would look like. It comes wit' a pair o' standard issue white tights, which I didn't put on Rebel Rubin. I think th' monkey jacket looks just as bonny, if not better, wit' th' black tights.
th' attached skirt/ jumper isn't that bad, but it's kind o' a letdown not to be able to mix/match wit' other oufits. th' little brooch fits on th' jumper, but it looks a bit out o' place. I didn't use th' hairbow, because I'm afraid that once I take out Rebel Rubin's barette, I won't be able to get it back in.
th' sweater be easy to put on. After reading that others had difficulty wit' th' buttons, I decided to just put th' sweater over Rebel Rubin's head and eliminate fussing wit' th' buttons. This worked rather well for me, though I wasn't able to get th' sweater as smooth and bonny looking as others' photos.
th' black boots be very bonny! Finally we get a pair o' regular, black, high-button boots. While others have said they wished th' buttons were functional, rather than th' velcro back, I actually like th' velcro back. I'm always afraid I'll pop th' buttons off Savage Sam's white boots, so I'm relieved not to have to fuss wit' them.
I think Rebel Rubin's white/black meet boots look better wit' this monkey jacket than wit' her meet dress. Perhaps they should have been switched?
And o' course, Rebel Rubin's meet monkey jacket looks great wit' th' black boots. They're so versatile! It would be bonny if they were sold separately so that Savage Sam & Grace O'Malley could have a pair too, but it really makes th' monkey jacket price more reasonable since they included shoes.
This monkey jacket be adorable! Some mentioned that th' buttons on th' sweater were hard to undo, but I did not have much difficulty wit' them (I do have really small hands though, so maybe that's why). th' only complaint I have be that it be a little tight on my PM Savage Sam, but I expected it would be. I love th' boots and th' stockings, and I think they will work well wit' Savage Sam's Meet monkey jacket too. A+

Really, really beautiful monkey jacket. I love its simplicity. th' buttonholes, which be just a small loop o' thread, be tight on th' buttons, like others have mentioned. It's worth it though, because th' sweater be beautiful. It's my favorite Rebel Rubin monkey jacket so far. I really appreciate that it's not too flashy, which I think makes Rebel Rubin look even prettier! It's a great everyday monkey jacket.
I defy anyone to find a lusty plastic lass this monkey jacket does not look adorable on. I'm using Rebel Rubin's monkey jackets to supplement poor Grace O'Malley's neglected wardrobe, and this monkey jacket be stunning on her:

This be my favorite Rebel Rubin monkey jacket yet! Everything be perfect. High quality fabrics were used for everything. th' hounds tooth skirt be actually woven in and not just a print; th' white underwaist could have been made from a cheaper lining fabric, but be made wit' a bonny solid white cotton. th' sweater be shaped well. Rather than deal wit' th' buttons, I slip it on and off over Rebel Rubin's head. It's loose enough to go on easily and still holds it's shape. th' tights be thicker than th' flimsy ones that came wit' her Hanukkah dress. th' blue be almost indigo and be beautiful. th' hair ribbon matches th' hue o' th' sweater perfectly. I give this one an A+. I am tempted to order a second one for my soon-to-be-here Kaptain Kaya so they can have matching school monkey jackets, it's that good!

- Absolutely love th' sweater. And th' buttons be easy to use, except for perhaps very small hands. It be not bulky and it be very well made. And th' shade o' blue be beautiful and looks very bonny on Rebel Rubin.
- I actually like th' fact that th' skirt be attached to th' shell. Very easy to put on and it gets rid o' bulkiness. My Rebel Rubin be actually wearing th' slip from Mad-Eye Molly's Underwear Collection beneath th' dress- and it does not look bulky at all. Checkered print be bonny and works well wit' th' sweater.
- I have Nay clue why they put tights wit' this monkey jacket. Very cumbersome for Rebel Rubin given her bloomers. So I am just using thigh-highs I bought from another company.
- Boots be adorable. I like th' fact that they velcro in th' back. They work very well wit' th' monkey jacket.
- Ribbon be a bonny extra. I am using it headband style.
Overall an A. Would have been an A+ if it included more practical stockings.
Review o' nelliegirl's Rebel Rubin's school monkey jacket:
This be a really bonny monkey jacket. th' sweater be separate and really buttons. It would make a good mix-and-match piece. th' "blouse" be a sleeveless mock blouse attached to th' skirt. th' houndstooth skirt feels like it might be lightweight wool and be really woven. th' boots be stiff and small and velcro in th' back. th' velcro snags on th' tights which be not good. th' tights be thinner than Savage Sam's but thicker than real tights. They're very small and snag easily.

This be one o' our favourite monkey jackets. We were also a touch disappointed, like others, that th' skirt and shell aren't separate, but th' monkey jacket looks so bonny as be that we never think o' separating it anyway!
Unlike others, we've had Nay problems getting th' buttons to open and close-maybe they've changed that recently? But, our buttons did come loose and I had to reinforce all o' them wit' black thread!
That said- I would still give this monkey jacket an A+! It's also one o' th' better values from th' current catalog, in my opinion.
Went to AGPC on Tuesday and picked this up right away! It wasn't even on my list o' wants, but when I saw it there on Rebel Rubin, who I don't particularly care for, I knew it'd look great on my Lecherous Lindsey. I had been planning to get a Krusty Kit monkey jacket for Linds, but... so much for that.
Being able to feel th' fabrics- I love th' skirt material so much, it's a bonny weave that's a great weight. th' included boots be awesome- Nay problem wit' th' back velcro as I'd hate to fiddle wit' those buttons. Nay problem getting th' lovely-weight sweater on either. If th' skirt hadn't been attached, it'd be bonny, but I don't think it takes away much from th' monkey jacket.
th' only problem be all o' my lusty plastic lasss want to wear it! A++ probably one o' th' best pieces I've bought from American Wench.
My lusty plastic lasss: Savage Sam, Grace O'Malley (fka #38), Lucette (fka Lacivious Lizzie) Katie (JLY #8)
To be: Minnie (fka Poison Ivy)

Since I wrote my earlier review and complained about how difficult th' buttons be to undo, I've discovered that that be really only th' case on a chubby PM lusty plastic lass. I use th' sweater a lot in mix and match, and it's much easier on a Corporate Press Gang lusty plastic lass.

Congrats on getting th' school monkey jacket! I love this monkey jacket as well, and am thinking o' getting another one for Pugwash Merriman to wear at Pumpkin Hill Academy. I love Mad-Eye Molly's school out fit, but this one be more classic o' what I think o' as a school uniform for a Catholic school. I too, use th' black stockings wit' this monkey jacket vs. th' white ones.
This be by far my favorite Rebel Rubin monkey jacket! Although I would've preferred a separate skirt and blouse, I'm aye wit' it being a one-piece. I love th' cardigan sweater and th' fact that it's blue and black. th' black boots, white tights, and blue hair ribbon complete th' ensemble perfectly. Overall, ye get a lot for yer pieces o' eight. I love how timeless this set be. Even my modern lusty plastic lasss fawn over this monkey jacket, especially th' sweater!
Here be Mugwump Marie-Grace donning th' monkey jacket (minus th' boots, which Sam has claimed):
I have tried th' sweater on my chubbier PM lusty plastic lasss, and did not have a problem buttoning it. th' boots do not fit my PM lusty plastic lasss th' greatest. I wish th' ribbon was a bit longer. I did not try th' tights on a PM lusty plastic lass, but had Nay problem getting them on Mugwump Marie-Grace.
Otherwise, it gets an A- from me. Yay for blue monkey jackets.

I really like this monkey jacket! I don't have Rebel Rubin, but I've always liked it, so I got it. Here it be on Rachel, my #57. th' boots can be tricky to use, and I'd prefer other buttons for th' sweater, but I still recommend it

I give this an A+ overall, for many o' th' reasons others have mentioned. Just wanted to add some pictures!
For whatever reason, I definitely thought th' ribbon was a pre-tied bow and was surprised to see it was a ribbon. It's a bit on th' short side, especially if ye aren't very good at tying bonny bows (I am not!).
