This outfit was introduced in 2009 and retired in 2015.
Rebecca can stay warm on her way to school in this outfit, featuring: A ribbed button-front cardigan sweater with black trim A pleated herringbone skirt with an attached underwaist White stockings and black boots with button details A blue grosgrain hairbow to sweep back her wavy hair
Love the outfit, but I wish the skirt was really a skirt. It's described as a skirt on the packaging, but, well, you can see in the picture. It's a skirt attached to an undershirt. I'd rather pay a few more dollars and get a separate skirt and shirt. In the end it doesn't hurt the outfit, it just gives it less mix and match potential.
Love that this outfit comes with a pair of boots.

I picked this up at AGPLA today... loved it from the start. I don't have Rebecca, but the boots are for Sam, and my modern girls will share the outfit.
My only problem with it was that the buttons on the sweater were really difficult to undo. I ended up pulling it over my doll's head. I'm thinking I missed something really obvious there.

This is my favourite of Rebecca's outfits, so far, and the only things I don't really like about it are that the top/skirt are connected, and also the buttons on the cardigan are a little difficult to fasten and unfasten.
Apart from that, it's just a really cute outfit, and I love the cardigan and black boots, especially.
Overall: A

Rebecca's school outfit is very nice! I had read the books prior to seeing the album, and based on the illustration, I was really dreading what the outfit would look like. It comes with a pair of standard issue white tights, which I didn't put on Rebecca. I think the outfit looks just as nice, if not better, with the black tights. The attached skirt/ jumper isn't that bad, but it's kind of a letdown not to be able to mix/match with other oufits. The little brooch fits on the jumper, but it looks a bit out of place. I didn't use the hairbow, because I'm afraid that once I take out Rebecca's barette, I won't be able to get it back in. The sweater is easy to put on. After reading that others had difficulty with the buttons, I decided to just put the sweater over Rebecca's head and eliminate fussing with the buttons. This worked rather well for me, though I wasn't able to get the sweater as smooth and nice looking as others' photos. The black boots are very nice! Finally we get a pair of regular, black, high-button boots. While others have said they wished the buttons were functional, rather than the velcro back, I actually like the velcro back. I'm always afraid I'll pop the buttons off Samantha's white boots, so I'm relieved not to have to fuss with them. I think Rebecca's white/black meet boots look better with this outfit than with her meet dress. Perhaps they should have been switched? And of course, Rebecca's meet outfit looks great with the black boots. They're so versatile! It would be nice if they were sold separately so that Samantha & Nellie could have a pair too, but it really makes the outfit price more reasonable since they included shoes. Grade: A

This outfit is adorable! Some mentioned that the buttons on the sweater were hard to undo, but I did not have much difficulty with them (I do have really small hands though, so maybe that's why). The only complaint I have is that it is a little tight on my PM Samantha, but I expected it would be. I love the boots and the stockings, and I think they will work well with Samantha's Meet outfit too. A+

Really, really beautiful outfit. I love its simplicity. The buttonholes, which are just a small loop of thread, are tight on the buttons, like others have mentioned. It's worth it though, because the sweater is beautiful. It's my favorite Rebecca outfit so far. I really appreciate that it's not too flashy, which I think makes Rebecca look even prettier! It's a great everyday outfit. Here Rebecca is wearing the black tights that she came wearing, not the white tights that come with this outfit.

I defy anyone to find a doll this outfit does not look adorable on. I'm using Rebecca's outfits to supplement poor Nellie's neglected wardrobe, and this outfit is stunning on her: Better photo of the sweater: Better photo of the boots:

This outfit is AWESOME! I love it! I think it really makes Rebecca's collection "her", rather than AG's view of her. A+ for quality, price, and connection to books.

- Absolutely love the sweater. And the buttons are easy to use, except for perhaps very small hands. It is not bulky and it is very well made. And the shade of blue is beautiful and looks very nice on Rebecca.
- I actually like the fact that the skirt is attached to the shell. Very easy to put on and it gets rid of bulkiness. My Rebecca is actually wearing the slip from Molly's Underwear Collection beneath the dress- and it does not look bulky at all. Checkered print is cute and works well with the sweater.
- I have no clue why they put tights with this outfit. Very cumbersome for Rebecca given her bloomers. So I am just using thigh-highs I bought from another company.
- Boots are adorable. I like the fact that they velcro in the back. They work very well with the outfit.
- Ribbon is a nice extra. I am using it headband style.
Overall an A. Would have been an A+ if it included more practical stockings.

I don't have Rebecca, but I really need a school outfit for my girls. This is just too pretty! I'm really happy that this came with a ribbon, boots and tights. I give it A+

Review of nelliegirl's Rebecca's school outfit: This is a really nice outfit. The sweater is separate and really buttons. It would make a good mix-and-match piece. The "blouse" is a sleeveless mock blouse attached to the skirt. The houndstooth skirt feels like it might be lightweight wool and is really woven. The boots are stiff and small and velcro in the back. The velcro snags on the tights which is not good. The tights are thinner than Samantha's but thicker than real tights. They're very small and snag easily. Grade: A-

Just a note on this outfit--in a Sears catalog reprint I have from about this time period, skirts with attached underwaists were very common around this time.

This is one of our favourite outfits. We were also a touch disappointed, like others, that the skirt and shell aren't separate, but the outfit looks so nice as is that we never think of separating it anyway!
Unlike others, we've had no problems getting the buttons to open and close-maybe they've changed that recently? But, our buttons did come loose and I had to reinforce all of them with black thread!
That said- I would still give this outfit an A+! It's also one of the better values from the current catalog, in my opinion.

Went to AGPC on Tuesday and picked this up right away! It wasn't even on my list of wants, but when I saw it there on Rebecca, who I don't particularly care for, I knew it'd look great on my Lindsey. I had been planning to get a Kit outfit for Linds, but... so much for that.
Being able to feel the fabrics- I love the skirt material so much, it's a nice weave that's a great weight. The included boots are awesome- no problem with the back velcro as I'd hate to fiddle with those buttons. No problem getting the lovely-weight sweater on either. If the skirt hadn't been attached, it'd be nice, but I don't think it takes away much from the outfit.
The only problem is all of my dolls want to wear it! A++ probably one of the best pieces I've bought from AG.

Since I wrote my earlier review and complained about how difficult the buttons are to undo, I've discovered that that is really only the case on a chubby PM doll. I use the sweater a lot in mix and match, and it's much easier on a Mattel doll.

Congrats on getting the school outfit! I love this outfit as well, and am thinking of getting another one for Felicity to wear at Pumpkin Hill Academy. I love Molly's school out fit, but this one is more classic of what I think of as a school uniform for a Catholic school. I too, use the black stockings with this outfit vs. the white ones.

This is by far my favorite Rebecca outfit! Although I would've preferred a separate skirt and blouse, I'm okay with it being a one-piece. I love the cardigan sweater and the fact that it's blue and black. The black boots, white tights, and blue hair ribbon complete the ensemble perfectly. Overall, you get a lot for your money. I love how timeless this set is. Even my modern dolls fawn over this outfit, especially the sweater! Grade: A+

Here is Marie-Grace donning the outfit (minus the boots, which Sam has claimed): I have tried the sweater on my chubbier PM dolls, and did not have a problem buttoning it. The boots do not fit my PM dolls the greatest. I wish the ribbon was a bit longer. I did not try the tights on a PM doll, but had no problem getting them on Marie-Grace. Otherwise, it gets an A- from me. Yay for blue outfits.

I really like this outfit! I don't have Rebecca, but I've always liked it, so I got it. Here it is on Rachel, my #57. The boots can be tricky to use, and I'd prefer other buttons for the sweater, but I still recommend it

I bought just the boots for Samantha, but I just had to comment on them. They're adorable! They fit the time period so well, so much better than Samantha' black mary janes.
The buttons on the side are just for decoration, the shoes velcro up the back.

I give this an A+ overall, for many of the reasons others have mentioned. Just wanted to add some pictures! For whatever reason, I definitely thought the ribbon was a pre-tied bow and was surprised to see it was a ribbon. It's a bit on the short side, especially if you aren't very good at tying nice bows (I am not!).

I bought this one in the spring when I heard it was going to retire. It's one of the most versatile historical outfits AG ever made. Just about every character from Sam and Nellie on through the 20th Century not only look good in it, but could make some part of it work for their time period. My #58 Whitney (who mainly time-travels in the 30s and 50s) is wearing it now. It's simple, the colors are vibrant and work with almost every doll out there, and the skirt, tights, and sweater are soft a good weight. The boots are awesome too - they fit my PM Samantha with a little tugging and look terrific with many of her outfits, including her gray School Dress and original Meet Outfit. I do wish the ribbon were a little longer, but that could be because I'm not very good at tying bows, and yes, I wish the shell and the skirt came in two pieces. I also had a hard time with those buttons - they could have made the button loops a bit larger.
If you can find this one around, grab it. It's one of the best things in Rebecca's collection and can work with many different dolls and collections.
