While it is plastic, I still like it.

The tulip speaker has been referred to as pink, but is more magenta...so it's not like 'barbie pink' and matches the settee well. My great grandmother had an album just like this one, in the same color, so I think the authenticity on that is great.

Because it is not wood, I can see how some adult collectors might be disappointed, but the play value is high (9 year old son, has been playing with it for about an hour).

I received this today and am disappointed. The speaker isn't what bothers me it's the needle, they didn't even try to make it look real. Instead it looks like a McDonald's Happy Meal Toy. Take Kit's waffle iron set and look and all the exact detail that went into in and the materials that are true to life. Then take a look at the Phonograph....NO COMPARISON!!!!!! Couldn't it at least have been wood!!! The needle mechanism is so cheap and fake looking it's almost laughable. I love the album, but it;s like they don't match. One had thought and detail put into it and the other was slapped together. My grade a C-

I saw this in person. AG usually makes realistic accessories, but this one is a miss. Imagine a preschool child's toy in miniature. There is almost no detail. If this is the future of AG, I'll be buying only PM items.

I received this as a gift and I like it. Though the needle looks a bit strange, it has brought some joy to the household. My children love it, and I love the 3 songs. It is definitely a piece made for children not collectors.

I bought the phonograph, was so appalled at the plastic-ness of it, that I returned it. It'll be the one thing from Rebecca's collection that I don't buy.

I bought it. Even though it is plastic, I really like it. More important, the kids like to play the "records".......even sing along with the one that plays, "Take me out to the ball game.

The records sound scratchy just like the old time phonographs and if I didn't have one already, I would purchase it again. (Ours was not on sale when we purchased it).

It is a nice accessory in Rebecca's collection.

My dd and her friends love the phonograph. I agree it's plasticy, but that's one of her favorite things. I don't worry about her or my younger DD breaking it. The songs don't get on my nerves when I've heard them 50 million times either.

My kids sing "Take me out to the ballgame" too! They just love it. I love the old fashioned sound too. With AG's I don't worry about my kids playing with it.

Yes, it is plastic. But I love mine. It actually plays songs, and the records and the book they come in are so cool looking. I bought mine on sale and don't regret it. Rebecca's record player is made the same as Julie's; there are little indentations on the underside of each record that correspond with indentations on the base of the record player so the player knows what record has been placed on it and plays that song. You can even get the various songs to play without the records by knowing which of the little buttons to push. It is the plastic base that has the part that plays the music in it.

For those that complain about it being plastic, even Molly's radio was plastic, and that was a PC item. I think they make them out of plastic so that they will hold up longer.

Yes it is plastic, but it is a music box of sorts. I am a sucker for music boxy items. I will probably buy Kanani a ukelele for that reason.

I agree with the other posters. If it's for you, you may want to pass as it is very plastic looking. But my DD9 got it for her birthday and it's one of her favorite accessories. They love the records, the crank and the songs it plays. It's very sturdy and has held up to a lot of play. I would buy it again.

I agree that it is not too attractive. The needle casing is horrid. I do have the phonograph however. I position it in such a way that I do not have to see the gold blob. It is a favorite in our house too. My children love all 3 of the songs and play them quite often. I received it as a gift, but I do not know if I would have paid the full price for it myself.

I love mine - love the records and the sound of it.

I don't think it looks that bad and looked it up and sometimes the horn wasn't brass - but a solid color.

I'm fine with it - and even though it's plastic - it's quality plastic. Think green - how many trees would have to get cut down if they were made out of wood?

If you don't like it - don't get it. But I'm glad I have mine.

What sold me on Rebecca's Phonograph was listening to the songs, which you can hear in Rebecca's Archive section. Ronnie was so nice to have recorded them.
Take Me Out To The Ballgame and I'm a Yankee Doodle Dandy are two of my favorite songs ever.
I heartily sing George M Cohan's "I'm A Yankee Doodle Dandy" every summer. My preschoolers also sang and danced to it and sung it in our July 4th Parade, along with Your A Grand Old Flag. I have seen the movie a bunch of times. It drives my adult kids nuts when I sing it. ;D
Anyway, the song plays prominently in Rebecca's school life and there is score in her school supplies.


Take Me Out To the Ballgame Spring, Summer and Fall.

If there had not been songs and was for display only, I might have decided differently on whether to buy this version or a replica of an antique Victrola.
So, For what it is worth, that's my take.

The real ones can indeed have painted horns. It's not the horn colour that turns me off, it's the fabrication out of plastic and the blobby details.

I LOVE mine, to me it was a "must have" for Rebecca's
collection. My grandchildren can play with it and I don't
worry about them breaking it...plus, we all love hearing
the songs and singing a long.
