I just bought it and really think it's way cute. Don't like the plastic handle and knob on the fondue pot, but Mattel isn't Pleasant Company!! The plates are ceramic and the glasses, glass and the pot is metal. It's a very versatile set w/ lot's of play options. My only real gripe is the apples and strawberries are stuck to the fondue forks. Would have liked it better if they could be put on and off.
I love this set! It is on par, quality wise, with Josefina's stuff. Very well made. Loads better than Julie's Birthday Goodies.
What you get:
-4 skewers -fondue set: pot, pretend flame holder, holder thingy (don't know the name) and a lid for the pot, and a stand. -platter and a gelatin dessert. -two plates -two glasses -horribly 1970s table mat -two napkins
Did I emphasize enough how I like this set? Well, I like it, a lot.
The skewers are metal with plastic fruit attached to them. They have brown plastic handles.
The pot and the thing it sits on are metal. The pot and the handle on the lid are plastic. The burner thingy and the holder are both plastic.
The plates, I have been told, look so eerily like 1970s plates that it is just plain wrong. They are stoneware. The glasses are made of glass and are a nice shade of 1970s orange.
The gelatin desert just sits there, but seems to be pretty neat looking, and it sits on what appears to be a porcelain platter.
The napkins are cloth and the table mat is vinyl-y and looks like something AG might have stolen from my grandmother and then shrunk--its really that eerie how accurate it is.
This set is definitely up to PC quality standards, with loads of attention to detail. It is definitely worthy of its price tag.
Julie's Fondue set is so groovy . I collect fondue pots & fondue cookbooks from the 70's, so this set is right up my alley!
The fondue pot is very realistic looking, I have a people sized fondue pot from the 70's that looks exactly like it. The dishes are replicas of a stoneware pattern that was popular in the 70's, same with the amber glasses.
This set also comes with fondue forks, napkins, a vinyl tablecloth, and some type of pink strawberry desert on a white stand.
