I love my #38. I was drawn to her the minute she was introduced. I wanted to include her on my Christmas wish list, but my DS didn't like any of the redheads, so I waited and bought her for myself late in February. Her hair is super easy to manage with a brush and a spritz of water. Her bangs are thin and short (but not too thin or too short); so they don't take over her whole face. Her hair is easy to braid, put in a pony tail, or clip on up on the sides. She has a thick head of hair, with lots of short hairs. Her wig cap is always covered, no matter how I style her hair (The opposite of my Rebecca's hair). Her skin, hair, and eye coloring blend together nicely. Her freckles are well placed, are noticeable, but not too dark. She is definitely one of my favorite dolls!
Two views of the back of her head, one with her hair down, one with her hair in braids.
Her eyes are just a half a shade bluer than Rebecca's.
Her hair takes on different shades and tones depending on the lighting. None of my other dolls have hair than responds to light the same way. It can go from looking rather auburn-red to medium strawberry-blond to almost-blond with just a hint of red.
Here she is between Rebecca and Emily. You can see the differences in the color of Emily and #38's hair.

This is a beautiful doll! My Daughter received her as a Birthday present this past Summer. She is one of those dolls that looks so much better in person. The photos on the AG website and in the catalog do not do her justice. Her hair is soft and silky and super straight. My Daughter said it's very easy to style. We haven't had any issues with her hair like we have had with Julie's straight hair. Highly recommend!

After drooling over other members' photos for about 6 months, I caved and got her on my birthday trip to AGP this weekend. She doesn't disappoint. I think she's the most exciting doll I've received since my new-condition PM Sam last year! #38 has lovely hair, it's not very thick, but it's beautifully straight and easy to manage. My only complaint on the ENTIRE doll is the bangs. After being in her box for however long before purchase, her bangs had static-clung to the lid and so they're sorta stuck that way. A little water and brushing gets them to do right but I haven't found a more permanent solution yet. This girl is just gorgeous and looks good in anything. I've been staring at her for two days now. lol But you don't need to listen to my babble. Just see the below pics! I give her an A++++++++! She's perfection. Here she is after a successful day of AGP purchases: Getting a change right out of the box (I despise the new meet outfit!): Close up: She's great in the Ruby and Ribbons dress: She likes to be outside, hates all this mountain rain: I also recommend the PWP, she looks good in white (and everything else): Gah, I love her! Hope the photos are okay, they're off my phone.

#38 (Rowan) my newest doll, is the first that I've ever bought whose name I knew for certain before she was in my hands, before she was purchased even. I feel very lucky to have been able to have Green Chile Supergirl and Aaryana hand pick her for me while they were at AGPNY.
Rowan has such a sweet and cheerful face and beautiful straight silky hair. Her colouring, hazel eyes and freckles are so, so pretty. I notice that her hair colour is realistically made up of strands of several different shades ranging from light brownish 'ginger' to strawberry blonde to blonde distributed through the wig. She seems to have a respectably full wig, too, neither too thin nor too thick and it is lovely to play with.
I give her an A+++ (x 1 000 000!). She's gorgeous and already a favourite here!

Here's one of my mini-me, Eliza. (Never posted a photo before, hope it works.) I'm going to re-wig her soon, so this may be the only unmodded #38 photo I'll have. (Also, yes, I know the glasses don't go with the outfit...they also aren't like the ones I had...:sigh: one day

My daughter's #38, Trixie was purchased from a board member. Her ears are pierced. She is the only doll either of us own with bangs or freckles. I adore her hazel eyes. Her hair is very silky, although the color is more of a strawberry blonde than a true red, it is a realistic shade.
A shot with the #21 I had purchased and intended to use as Trixie's sister.
#21 didn't stay with us long, but #38 is a keeper!

Has anyone had problems styling her hair? I just got my 38, Meggie yesterday. After much searching,I picked one with thinner bangs. when I took her hair out out of the ponytails,I noticed her hair is THICK. So thick, I'm not satisfied with any hairstyles I've done so far. She has short little hairs at the bottom of her wig, and some about 1/3 of the way down her wig, hidden near the scalp. Which makes any high ponytail or updo look funny on the sides (from the front, it makes her head look squarish, not smooth and round). Also, the bottom of her hair looks great when down, but looks awful and choppy when in one ponytail! It is so uneven that I cannot do a proper bun without having half the hair sticking out all over the place. It also has one tiny place at the base of her head where a few strands are glued to her neck, however I think I could easily fix that. Anyone else have this problem? I love her face, hair color and bangs but I hate her wig! Could this be a wig defect? I'm afraid that I'll get a doll with thick bangs if I were to have her head replaced. I didn't think she'd have the "middle of the head short hairs" like Kirsten for split hairstyles, either. That was part of the reason I wanted a new doll, so I wouldn't have that type of thing (although its not as severe as Kirsten's is).

I'm sorry to hear about Meggie's wig issue, I hope you are able to get it resolved. I still really want #38 but I plan on leaving her hair in pigtails. Does the back of the wig look odd when her hair is in pigtails?

Do you have any pictures that show the issues you have with her wig? You might want to take a look at some of the other members' photos posted earlier in this thread, especially those in the first post by valingo. 38 has hair very similar to Julie; very stick straight with a blunt edge and hard to put in certain styles, especially the ones you've described. I have a 38 (purchased secondhand, but I believe she dates from around the time of 38's introduction in 2009), and she has the shorter hairs close to the scalp like Kirsten and Molly (most of the modern dolls seem to have them now), as well as the ends of her hair looking a bit choppy when pulled back in a single ponytail (again, take a look at valingo's pictures; the fourth one down shows the "choppy" ends pretty well, and my girl looks the same way when I put her hair back in a single pony). I think that's just normal for this doll. I ended up getting the Chic Bun and Curly Ponytail hair accessories (in Red) when I want to do buns and high ponys with her. Hope that helps.

This was my second doll I bought her from American girl in May 2012. I was drawn to her because I just thought she was so pretty. She has the classic face mold, though I do think this mold is overused I love it on her. She also has feathered eyebrows which I prefer, decal hazel eyes which are different from Isabelles, cute freckles and ‘red’ hair. I would call the colour strawberry blonde, but it is a very pretty colour, she has the new style fringe which I like a lot better, a middle part and her hair goes just a few inches past her shoulders. I love her hair though my Tiana usually wears hers down as I find it difficult to style as it is so silky and straight. My doll came with the ‘Real Me’ outfit though everyone seems to hate this outfit I love it and a part of it is always being worn on my dolls. I love the purple colour, the fact it was trousers and the shoes are adorable. The top is pretty and because it is lilac goes with more than the trousers. Overall, I think this doll is a real beauty and she would be a great first doll, or great for children as her hair is so easy to care for but if you want a doll to do tons of hairstyles on she isn’t the one as her hair is limited to some hairstyles. My overall grade is A- as her hair is hard to style.

This is Melody. I ordered her from AG and got her in July of 2013. One thing I don't like about her is that he hair can be difficult to style and blows in the wind easy! But she's still really cute!
