I love Lanie! I thought she had brown eyes until I saw my niece's Lanie and I had to get her! Lanie's beautiful curls were sorta messy when I got her but we're working on that! She is my first Mattel AG and compared to PC I think her wig is kind of thin but maybe they are all like that now. I LOVE her eyes. I am very happy I bought her at the last minute! This is my gorgeous Lanie, renamed Linden. Captain Syd handpicked her out for me at AGBB Dallas! She made a great choice!!! I love her. She has thick hair and big hazel eyes. I had checked out Lanie at AGPLA and I didn't see one as beautiful as this one is. Here's Linden having a very healthy breakfast. Food was provided by Aunt Gretchen (Gdking1965). Thank you Captain Syd and Aunt Gretchen!

Lanie is what I like to refer to as a "beautiful" doll, not pretty, not cute, but beautiful. There aren't many dolls I would put in that category, frankly the only other would be Kailey, and thats only a maybe. Lanie floored me when I received her, she is my FAVORITE doll of any of them, aesthetically speaking. I love the nature theme and I could find a single flaw in her outfit, she was just gorgeous. She is more of a display doll IMO than a doll one would play with, I would be to afraid to ruin her hair if I brushed it to ever consider doing so! Grade: A+

Lanie is adorable! She is one of my favorite dolls! She looks a lot prettier in person than online. Her hair is so pretty. And her hair isn't that hard to take care of. Her side bangs are very nice. She has gorgeous hazel eyes! Her outfit is really cute. I absolutely LOVE her shoes. The headband that she comes with is very hard to put back on though. Overall, she is an amazing doll, and I would definitely recommend her. I give her an A+! Attachments:

Lanie is my favorite by far out of all the AGs we've had in the house. Not sure what it is probably the side bangs and the curls and the blonde and hazel eye combination. I just received my Lanie from the MCM sale so she did not come with everything she should have, just now realized she should've had a bracelet ( ). I think with her hair and hazel eyes she's one of the most unique caucasian dolls up to this point. A+ Her hair does appear to be a bit wild and I've seen most Lanies with really lovely body to their hair but the curls have been brushed out. A Her outfit is cute and was liked very much by my 13yo who no longer plays with dolls. The headband she had on didn't have any frays and fit rather well. The toe of one shoe was rather dingy looking which leads me to think the white rubber part of the shoe gets dirty quickly. B+ Overall she's wonderful. And my most favorite of all the dolls that have been released to date.

Lacey is probably one of my most favorite dolls. Although I do wish she'd had green eyes, the hazel doesn't detract from her. She looks great in everything.

I received my Lanie as a birthday present this year. I was shocked when I opened her- She is just beautiful! Her meet outfit is darling but a little sparse.... she looks like she is missing something. My Lanie's hair was super frizzy out of the box, and I still haven't managed to tame most of it. Her curls are darling! I love her wig and I still have the side bangs brushed back. I love the headband, even though it is incredibly hard to put back on. It is super cute! She has just a gorgeous face! I would give her wig an A- and her meet outfit a B+. She looks gorgeous in almost everything!

Okay, so this is my first review, so please bear (bare?) with me . Lanieloo is probably my favorite doll (maybe because she shares my name?) she is so pretty! I can't believe I waited as long as I did to get her! I guess I was afraid I would mess her hair up. Anyways, I bought my Lanie from Ebay, new in box, on May 15th and she arrived on May 20th of this year (2011). Lanie is so cute! I love her gorgeous blond curls, side bangs, and greenish hazel eyes. It's a great combination! Her hair, to me at least, is great! I love her sidebangs, they make her so much more unique. Her golden curls are actually very easy to manage (I even use the brush). The only problem I had was when I took her hair out of the hairnet, her side bangs were all stuck into her curls (probably from sitting in the box for about a year). Lanie's meet outfit is adorable! I love the little polo dress, the headband with the dragonfly on it (even though it's a little to small), the shoes with their little yellow bows, the cute royal blue underwear with a dragonfly on it! The only problem is that only my blond dolls can wear it, mostly because I can really only see miss Lanie in it (hmm, I'm not sure why that is...). So here are some pictures of my Country Cutie, Lanie Taylor Holland:

Lanie is my favorite GOTY! She's so cute. Her hair is bouncy and keeps it's curl well. To me, Lanie seems younger looking compared to other GOTY dolls, like Jess for example. Lanie looks good in pretty much everything. Especially bright colors. I really like her meet outfit, because the colors aren't used often for AG outfits, and the style is fun. The shoes are my favorite part. They see a lot of use around here. The headband, not so much, but it looks okay on the doll. Lanie gets an A+ from me. She's just too cute!

I got my Lanie for Christmas 2010. I didn't get any other outfits for her, so she sat around in her meet outfit until a couple days after my birthday. And while opening her on Christmas, I pulled her headband off on accident. Oh well, I didn't like it anyway. I would have to give Lanie an A-, mostly because of her really curly hair. It's fine now, so I don't have much to worry about.

Elaine came to our house Christmas 2010. She is a darling little French girl and one of my favorite dolls. Doll: I was very worried about the hair until I really got to play with it. It's SO soft, and the curls are beautiful. If they get tangled or come undone, you can very easily finger-curl it to the original style. Her hair is very easy compared to other curl-haired dolls-the only issue I've ever faced with the hair is flyaways, but they can be easily taken care of with water spray. Her coloring is beautiful, and her eyes have a sweet twinkle to them. As a doll, Miss Lanie gets an A+! Her Meet Outfit is really cute but I do have some complaints. The dress is a bit tight on my dolls. When she sits, the dress does not do a very good job of covering anything and her undies are in plain sight. I agree with others that leggings would have been good choice. However, the dress is still very cute. It gets a B! Headband: GRRRRR....I will never be able to get this headband on a doll again, at least not on my Elaine. You can barely fit it over the doll's head, and it is nearly impossible to get on dolls with bangs (side bangs included), such as Lanie. There's barely any elastic on the headband, and there were loose strings when it arrived here. It's too bad, because the headband would be cute if we could actually manage to get it on. This headband gets a D-. Shoes: These are by far one of my favorite doll shoes. So cute. They get a well-deserved A+! Now, I'll show off my beautiful girl: Fresh out of the box She has such a beautiful mold! Her curls are so gorgeous! With Kanani

Out of my dolls, when I ask someone who they think is the prettiest, they usually pick Lanie. I love her hair/eye color combo; I'm really glad AG didn't make her eyes brown or blue like half of their blonde haired dolls are. Her eyes are a very green hazel, and are just beautiful. I was disappointed that her eyes weren't green, like the are in the book, but I don't think Lanie would of been able to pull them off like the way she does with the hazel. Lanie's hair is one of the easiest to take care of out of all of my curly haired dolls. Her side bangs are adorable IRL. Her wig is lovely. Her meet is one of my favorites out of all of my Girls of the Years. Her shoes are so cute! They are just like real converse/type shoes in that style, and the bow makes the perfect touch. My Lanie's meet dress is a little bit on the thick side, but it doesn't bother me. The hairband is a little cheap, but yet still adorable. Lanie gets an A. Keep up the great work, AG!

I've wanted Lanie for a year, so I had bought her off ebay and I couldn't wait for her to arrive. She was even prettier in person!! I love the blonde curly hair and hazel eye combo!! I really love her side bangs!!! Her meet outfit is so casual and cute, very Lanie-ish!!! Even though her hair is curly, it's easier to care for than like, Rebecca or Kanani. Lanie's a cutey and on my list of favorites!! A+!

Lanie is a beautiful doll. I found her at a doll show in March, and I was amazed at just how pretty she was in person. My Lanie's hair is a little dry after three years of play, but it is still curly and fairly easy to care for. I have to give her an A+! Here are some photos of my beautiful Alaina Evelyn Holland:

My Olivia really is one of my favorite dolls. I received her last August as a prize from The Doll Wardrobe's giveaway contest, new in box. They kindly cut the headband away from the hairnet, but that thing was so tight on her head that it must have taken at least three minutes to pry it off. I tried it on Mia afterward, but it could barely fit on her head, and it took quite a bit of shoving. Her dress is definitely cute, and it seems like something a little girl might wear. Very summery, too, but I would have rather had a more year-round appropriate outfit. I haven't actually used it since, because it doesn't seem to flatter any of my other dolls. Lanie's shoes are my favorite part of her outfit. After being on Olivia's feet for 2 years, the blue left no staining. They are surprisingly good for mix and match. Their style is similar to real shoes I have seen, and I love how summer-y they are! Lanie's underwear is just standard dark blue, but I appreciate that the dragonfly is embroidered, instead of just being iron on, like American Girl tends to do. The only thing I dislike is that such a dark color does not work under lighter bottoms. As a doll, Lanie is just stunning! Her hair was a bit messy out of the net, but it's been easy to style ever since, even after being braided. I was very worried about her hair at first, but not anymore. I also love the extra detail they put into the color with the brownish lowlights. Her side bangs do limit some styling, but they are pretty cute, and Lanie just wouldn't be the same without them. I just wouldn't give her to a younger kid, or else her hair would become a hot mess. I personally love her hazel eye color, even though I would say it's closer to green. It is much greener than Mia's (the only other hazel eyed doll I have). I don't have any special review pictures on hand, but Olivia is photogenic enough that I have quite a few of her. Overall, I'd have to give Lanie an A-, because her meet outfit really seemed a bit too skimpy to justify a higher grade.

Lanie is a very cute doll over all. I'm glad I bought her last minute in December 2011. Her polo dress is adorable. The shoes are like flats on top, but sneakers on the bottom. Dolls can stand very well in the shoes. Her hair can be twisted into a bunch of small curls or some bigger curls. I prefer small curls, but I usually end up giving her bigger curls out of laziness. Her side fringe is very unique, and it doesn't stick out weird like I was afraid of. They can be clipped back if you don't like them. Her eyes are almost the same hazel that Mia's are, but the green tones are a bit brighter on Lanie. Here are some miscellaneous shots of my Lanie Mae Holland. www.flickr.com/photos/75176523@N02/9199970581/in/photostream/www.flickr.com/photos/75176523@N02/9202713060/

I got Lanie secondhand this summer. She is gorgeous! I wasn't around AG when Lanie was out but I thought she was pretty in the pictures after the fact. She is so much prettier in person! My favorite part of her meet outfit are her shoes. Their cute and well made. Her underwear has left a slight blue stain on her cloth body, but only in one spot. I wish her skirt was a bit longer as sitting down she isn't quiet proper. (: Not a huge deal, just slightly longer would be nice, she is 9 after all. I don't have the headband. So no comment on that. Her face is just to cute. I only like the classic mold sometimes, but Lanie nails it. I wasn't sure about the curls and side bangs but I love them on her. Her wig is a nice thickness, any more and the curls would make it to much. Also, the curls are super easy to restyle. She more work than Josefina, but not impossible nor super hard. Just a different set of skills. She's my first curly doll and I'm loving her. Doll A + Meet A - for short skirt and staining underwear i880.photobucket.com/albums/ac5/rfetting/Doll%20Sized%20Clue%20Board%20Game/b23b9115-bfa0-4b99-99da-c081cc463be2_zps8b3a7a60.jpg

Does anyone have both Lanie and #27 in order to do some hair color comparison photos? I love the blonde on both of them and am not extremely attached to my Lanie's hazel eyes; am considering giving her the dark blue eyes instead as a compromise.

I got Lanie because she's as close to being my mini as AG can get so far. Her hair has really neat highlights that the curls seem to bring out. Her face make up makes her look very sweet, but also attentive. If I had to say one negative thing, it would be that the side bangs make her look a little dorky. But I'm not really a fan of side bangs anyway. Her hazel eyes are yellowy brown compared to the dark green that some dolls have. I have not really touched her curls since she came home from the AG hospital in March. They seem to hold up really well. It's August now, and she's already been on some wild and crazy adventures. I think wild curls fit her book personality.

Lanie, other than Saige, is m fave GOTY. I must have a thing for curls.
Her hair is a beautiful light blond with darker blond lowlights. I think her hair isn't hard to take care of, you just can't brush the curls out. A+
Her meet is cute but seems like there could be more to it. B
Face is super cute, love her hazel eyes. A+
Overall A

Lanie is quite beautiful. She did however, have to spend a few years of her life with rather straight hair because it was simply unmanageable. Since I've recurled it, it has been much better, but her factory curls are very wild. I also dislike that I have to put leggings under her meet dress. Essentially, this "dress" is just a long top. I do think that Lanie is one of the prettiest dolls in my collection, although she isn't my favorite (Kirsten is first, then Samantha - just a personal preference and liking of their stories and absolutely nothing to do with Lanie's quality.) I do think she looks 10,000 times better out of her meet outfit. If any of you'd like yo "fix" Lanie's wild hair, this is the process I took to recurl her hair, and afterwards I put bobby pins in her hair and steamed it to get her curls to stop defying gravity. And here's a couple pictures of how nice Lanie looks like with reasonable curls, lol.

I recently purchased a Lanie in an eBay lot; I got a really good deal on her, her meet, her PJs, and her animals (all except the owl). As I'd wanted the animals for a long time it was a no-brainer for me. When she arrived, her hair was dry and frizzy, but the curls were perfectly intact; I don't think it'd been brushed once by her previous owners. Naturally, my first order of business was to give her hair a good wash, condition, and brush (brushing each curl out individually and restructuring them around my fingers). The one thing I did notice about her hair is that there are a lot of much shorter pieces in the cap to give the wig fullness (and to cover the wig cap) that makes it a bit more difficult to keep the curls looking smooth and nice. Her meet outfit is cute, but I think looks better on dolls with darker coloring. On Lanie, it makes her look pale, sallow, and washed out. I haven't experimented that much on clothes for her, but I think she looks much better in more muted colors. I'm not entirely sure whether I'll keep her; I'll see if she grows on me enough.

My Lanie was a flea market find in 2020. She has pretty dry hair that I was able to restore to its former glory. I have noticed that’s an issue with this doll. I have two friends who also have Lanie, with very dry hair. It’s gotten to the point where I just don’t touch Lanie’s hair often to keep it from drying out. I’ve noticed this on other dolls with curly hair from the 2010 era of AG. This is just something to look out for.
That being said, I love Lanie. I think this doll had a great book character and collection. She is somewhat overlooked now, but she’s actually one of my favorite characters from AG. She has beautiful green hazel eyes and I think the side bangs look alright on this doll. I highly recommend her.

A friend has Lanie and she is really a sweet doll. She seems to works well in a number of eras, but I think she really works nicely in Kit's. She looks good in many different colors.
