Pet Portrait Set for Dolls Item# G0039 $38
Your favorite girl can pretend she’s a photographer with everything here:
* Four fun backdrops and an easel to change the scenery * A pedestal that’s just the right size for an American Girl pet * A pretend camera to capture the moment—she can press a button to see the “photos” change inside! * Includes photo tips, plus a sticker sheet filled with miniature pet portraits. The backdrops are nice. They are about a 5 x 7 size. They slide into a plastic frame that sits up on a plastic stand so it's just the correct height for you to take pet portraits and make it look like your pet is actually at the, say, Eiffel Tower. The pet's pedestal is a cardboard box. Cute, but paper. The camera is what makes this set worth any bit of money at all. The plastic camera has 8 'real' photos inside! It's like those little view finders we used to get from our summer vacation spots. You hold it up to your eye and look inside. When you click a button the tiny image inside changes! There are pictures of the AG Pets poised in front of the various backdrops. Totally sweet. Worth $38? Not in my opinion. Twenty would be closer to a good price. Grade B.

I concur with the above review (and am adding a couple photos I forgot I had on hand). When this set goes down to $20 or less (even better with free shipping) it will be a fun, playable thing. Right now it is over-priced and that sucks the fun right out of it. Even my 10 year old doesn't want it "until it's cheaper." Nice concept but overpriced = grade C.

We have this set and I agree, it's overpriced at full retail. My DD mainly uses the backdrops and easel as a TV for her dolls. She uses the camera for "school picture day" for her doll school. She very rarely uses the pedastal - right now it's serving as a large "present" for her dolls. She used it for its intended purpose when she first received it but now rarely sets up her pets for portraits.

We finally purchased this when it went on clearance for $15. It's worth that price, for sure! The camera is my favorite part with the tiny photos inside that change when you click the shutter. Fun stuff. And you can take pretty good portraits with it. Here's what my son just took of Ginger:
