Kaya's food is one of the best accessories AG makes. It comes with a basket which Kaya can carry by a woven strap; "leaves" which are tucked into the basket; dried salmon; finger cakes,; huckleberies; a "horn" bowl and a tule mat. There are a few huckleberries which are loose and magnetic to avoid losing them. The rest are in a plasticy looking lump which can not be taken apart. The food and the leaves and bowl are all plastic but the food looks authentic as far as I can tell and the set has a lot of play value. I give it a 5. *Warning* a friend has had the strap break on her basket twice and AG doesn't sell the basket as a replacement part.

Kaya's Foods $20 WSAL Grade: A ***** Again food kits make a big hit in this house. Kaya's does the same for us. Super playability and wonderful details. All of the pieces are just wonderful. Being from Alaska I know what a piece of smoked salmon looks like and they have totally pulled it off with this! We lost one of our finger cakes and the magnetic berries are gone as well. the concept of the berries is really fun and cool. We have also had issues with the basket portion. One of the basket loops has come loose and then the leather used to tie on the strap kept breaking. We fixed all those issues bu weaving the cords on the strap through the basket loops. Works fine for us now. We just love this full set!

The leaves feel plasticy. Not like rubber not like silk leaves. They are the worst part of the set accuracy wise but cute.

Foods WSAL: $20 Grade: A+When Purchased: I purchased this set directly from AG in 2002. Description: (color, fabric, materials, fit) This set includes; woven basket, lump of huckleberries, 4 magnetic huckleberries, huckleberry branches, camas roots, tule mat, salmon, bowl, mashed camas, and finger cakes. All food are slightly rubbery texture. The bowl is plastic, the mat is thin wood, and the basket is woven with a nice woven strap. Durability: All items in this set are durable. Please note the magnetic huckleberries are no longer available in the set. Playability: I feel the doll food always has a high play value. I think the basket serves well for Kaya to collect the food and the mat is nice to display and serve the food. Value for the money: I feel this set is well worth the price. Overall Grade: A+

This is one of the best food sets AG has made. Out of all the lunch/food sets we have I think this set is the most accurate and realistic. My daughter loves the magnetic huckleberies and the finger cakes.
This set seems very durable and has a lot of play value.
Overall Grade: A+

I don't even have a Kaya, but I ordered her foods set because I'm a big fan of miniature foods and because its so cute. I figure I can use it for other girls too in various ways/scenarios. Anyway, its adorable, I just love the little basket especially and all the foods. A+++ from me!

The foods are now all stuck together. The set comes with the basket, leaves, horn bowl, mashed camas, a clump of camas roots, a clump of berries, a clump of finger cakes and separate pieces of fish. The mashed camas and finger cakes have color variation that makes them look more realistic than the original version.

I got this set for Christmas, and while I haven't actually played with it exactly, I really like it. The revised set comes with a woven basket, a horn bowl, a set of branches, finger cakes, berries, camas roots, 3 pieces of salmon, and mashed camas. The salmon are still loose, but the finger cakes, roots, and berries are all stuck together. It doesn't come with the loose berries mentioned above, either. I don't particularly like the fact that they're stuck together, though, and the horn bowl makes me a bit crazy as it has a rounded bottom and doesn't like to stand up straight on a flat surface, like a table. But other than that, it's a great set that I'm glad I got. Overall grade - A (would have given it A+, but lowered it due to the food being stuck together) Click image for full size (it's kind of big)

I got this set for my mother at AGPDC. I absolutely love the basket and the strap. Without any prompting, my mother said that it was as good as the pre-mattel stuff she owns. However, neither one of us was impressed with any of the food. It looks cheap, is clumped together, and is hard to identify without reading about it. We just use the leaves, which are very plastic, to pop out of the basket to make it look like she is harvesting something. My mom just left the rest of the food in the box and put it in her closet.

I ordered this set a few years ago, after they had revised it to remove the individual magnetic berries that came with the set originally. The berries are all lumped together, but the remainder of the food is individual pieces. The basket is really neat, and comes with leaves that can poke out through the basket weaving at the top of the basket. The lump of huckleberries fit perfectly in the basket & leaves. It also comes with a woven wood mat to place the food items on, and a carved bowl that is amber color. The mashed food item goes inside this bowl. That is too bad that the set has been revised again recently to clump more of the food together. I give the retired version that I have an "A".

$28 This set is still worth the money, even with the increase in cost. The berries are in just one pile now (without the magnetic ones) and the camas root are in a clump of 4. I don't mind that they are together as it is for classroom use and less easy to lose. It also looks cuter in the basket as they don't sink to the bottom.
One of the best AG food sets.

Our dog particularly likes this set! She chewed up one of the salmon strips, the camas roots are missing and the lump of mashed camas is gone too (along with two of the magnetic berries). Still, it is a well-done set. Grade: A
