This set was released in 2002.Kaya’s cape keeps her warm during cold winters in the valley—she would have sewn four rabbit hides together to make it. Her winter wear includes moccasins, long mittens, and a hood trimmed with faux fur and real feathers.Winters in Nez Perce territory were cold and snowy, but thanks to their bountiful hunting, Kaya and her family have plenty of hides and furs to keep them warm. Bundle Kaya up in this outfit that includes: A cape of faux rabbit hides sewn together, Faux-fur-trimmed lace-up moccasins and mittens, A hood with real feathers and faux-fur trimKaya’s Winter Cape & Hood $22 WCO Grade: B I really do like the idea of this set. I have a total bias towards fake fur. I would always rather see the real stuff. I know for kids it isn't always realistic but I always prefer it. The strings are the other reason I lower the grade on the set. The detail of that is written in the descriptions below. The cape is nicely made and lined. They cut the fur in a zig zag in the edges so that it gives a skinned animal effect. I suggest when you put it on the doll that you put the cape on and then add the hood after. It can be a little tough to put on for kids. The hood is made form the same faux suede that is used in the mittens. It is aslo trimmed with the same faux fur. Attached onto the front tip are two small feathers. One is red and one is spotted. I really do not like the ties for the cape or the hood. It is a stiff string that slips out of it's knots. The mittens easily fit on the doll without any effort. They are finish trimmed with some fake fur like on the hood. the come up nice and high almost to the elbows. The mocasins are nice too. Same suede material and faux fur. The laces are nice and long and easlity wrap enough times to hold the mocs on then be tied with little effort even for my daughter. Attachments:

This is the only outfit/accessory I have for Kaya. It's beautiful and she looks so cozy in it! It's also very soft. I love the cape; if I remember correctly, it's lined in fleece.

I find the shoes and gloves hard to put on, honestly i don't use this set often.

This is a lovely addition to Kaya's outfits. I find it is very easy to put on and I don't have any trouble getting the cape or moccasins tied. The only problem I have is the red strings will bleed onto the dress. For this reason, I give this set a B+

This is the second accessory I bought for Kaya. The hood and cape just make her look so cozy! I agree there are some issues with hood fitting, especially when she is wearing her hair shells. I also have never cared for AG mittens, but these fit better than some others.
And, this is a small quibble, but - the different leathers actually seem to 'clash' with Kaya's meet dress. I don't think she'd be wearing her adorned dress for Traveling. I wish they'd done a better job making things match. Although that probably wouldn't have been a real concern for Kaya!
Overall, a B.

Kaya's Winter Cape & Hood WCO: $22 Grade: AWhen Purchased: I purchased this directly from AG in 2006. Description: This set is made from faux leather, suede, and fur. You get the cape, hood, mittens, and boots. Durability: I think this set would be very durable, apart from the suede strings on the moccasins. They appear to be thin and easily broken with small hands. Playability: I believe this set has a great deal of play value as you get many nice pieces for the price. It's an easy way to give two looks to any of Kaya's outfits. The only problem I found with the set is getting the hood on over Kaya's shells in her braids. You really have to work carefully not to break the seashells and yet get the hood on correctly so it will tie under her chin. Value for the money: In this set you get many pieces for your money which can be used individually or all together, giving several looks to any outfit. Overall Grade: A

Are the shoes easy to put on? My shoes for Kaya don't seem to fit, and I've tried almost everything.

This is a very pretty set. The fur looks and feels fake but the leather parts feel real. The hood and cape look nice and snug and warm. I haven't tried the moccasins but the gloves fit just fine. Grade: A

I bought this set on Spotlight Savings earlier this year. I don't have Kaya yet, but my pioneer/frontier girl is currently wearing the cape and hood. I found the moccasins tight and difficult to get on-they will NOT fit over socks : . The mitten are nice and fit well. The cape is very cuddly, soft and nice but easy to tell it's fake. The fur feels like a stuffed animal rather than real fur. The strings for tying the hood and cape are nice and long-easy for little fingers to tie-but weird nylon feel that come undone easily. As a whole, I really like this set and I think it would add nicely to Kaya's collection-I know it looks nice on other dolls as well. A for tight moccasins and nylon ties, love the rest

I've had this since about 2003 and it's held up very well. No aging to note of. The fur is soft and the ties are intact. The moccasins are snug and difficult to tie just right, but once you get them on they look so nice. The cape lays on her shoulders well. The hood fits her braids and ties snugly. A great set!

Cape: A+The cape is made of thick faux fur that isn’t particularly special, but it is soft. AG attempted to make it look like actual fur with a soft suede-like lining that’s been cut in a zigzag pattern to, I assume, give it the appearance of having been cut from an actual hide. It’s very obviously not real fur, but I still like the look of it. Red straps tie the cape around Kaya’s shoulders (I don’t know how accurate the red is, but it looks nice). Be aware that if you have the version of Kaya’s Meet Dress or Adorned Deerskin Dress that have the winged-out shoulders, you’ll have to fold the wings back if you want the cape to fit. This makes me smile – I love some of AG’s oopsies. Outside Inside...look at that zigzag cut! Moccasins: AThese are very similar to man of the other moccasins in Kaya’s collection. This pair is made of dark brown suede and are lined with thick faux fur. They look warm and cozy. Also like many of Kaya’s moccasins, these can be difficult to get on (or easy, I suppose…if you haven’t had a hard time with her other shoes, you probably won’t have a difficult time with these!). Personally, I struggled. Mittens: AThey’re made of the same fabric as the boots with the same faux fur trim. They slide easily onto Kaya’s hands and go up to her elbows. They look nice and warm. Hood: A+Also made from the same fabric as the boots and mittens with the same faux fur trip, this also features two feathers, one red and one black and white, and leather straps to tie it under Kaya’s chin. It’s a bit of a difficult fit if Kaya has her hair shells in, but it does fit. Like every other component, it looks very comfortable and warm. Good Value?Currently, you can get this for $28 from AG directly. I got mine on the secondary market for around $20. I think AG’s price is fair. It may not be a “typical” winter outfit, but it feels very authentic to Kaya and the pieces are nice. Overall: A+I really like this set and appreciate the practicality of how it builds onto Kaya’s other dresses to add warmth in cold months. The individual pieces all look and feel warm and comfortable – I have no doubt that Kaya will be appropriately warm when it snows here in Ohio. As a child, I never had any interest in this winter set, but I’m really enjoying it as an adult. A must have for Kaya, I think. Staying nice and warm in the snow. And a closeup of Kaya's lovely face and how the hood fits.
