This item was sold separately after the retirement of the Santa Fe Summer Fun set. It retired in 2007. In Santa Fe, an American scout named Patrick shows Josefina something magical—a telescope that makes faraway objects leap into view. Take your telescope out of its pouch and let Josefina take a peek. It really works!
Josefina’s Telescope $10 JAAT Grade: A ***** What a great piece. It is really made of brass with leather stitched together around the base. It fully extends out and is a really accurate piece of work. The telescope really works when it is extended. Not only did they do the details on the outside but form the inside too. Comes with a velvet bag witha draw cord.

Josefina’s Telescope $10 JAAT A+ This set includes Josefina's telescope and pouch. Josefina's real working telescope is a very nice piece. It is brass, glass and leather. The leather is a light lavender color. It is heavy and feels nice to hold. It fits nicely in the pretty purple velvet pouch. This piece would be great for display or a lot of fun for play. My daughter loves looking through it.Samantha ever got to try it out. A+ for perfection.

This is so cute, but I noticed that mine doesn't really seem to magnify anything though you can look through it. I also love the purple velvety pouch, and it seems to be very well made. It certainly has a weight to it, which I enjoy. I didn't know there was two extensions until today. Thanks AG goddess for the fully extended photo! I give this piece and A+.

I thought it was a nice quality as well although the doll cannot really hold it. She can have the pouch wrapped around her wrist but that is about it. Also it hardly magnifies objects and there really is not much of a focusing dial. It looks nice sitting next to her on display but I am not sure what else you would do with it.

Poor Josefina- she can hold her telescope, but not look through it at the same time! That aside, this is a very nice little telescope. Very fun for Josefina to lend to other dolls for playing pirates. Whoa! I totally didn't know there were two extensions until reading this thread either! *runs off to play doll pirates* Grade: B

How long is the telescope? I found a mini telescope and am wondering if it's to scale. Thanks!

How long is the telescope? I found a mini telescope and am wondering if it's to scale. Thanks! The telescope is about 3" when shut and 5 1/4" long when fully extended. (the first photos in this thread are taken on 1" grid paper.) ETA: This telescope is identical to the one in the Santa Fe set.

Josefina's telescope is very nice. The brass is shiny with a sewn leather covering. I have the older version with two extensions. 23 by Laura *, on Flickr
