This is featured in Josefina's Surprise. Introduced in 1997 for $14, retired in 2012. Later rereleased as part of Josefina's Nighttime Accessories.
Mamá made this precious doll, named Niña, to be passed down in a beautiful new dress to each of the sisters on her eighth Christmas. But when Mamá died, Clara was too sad to part with Niña. Still, Josefina hoped that one day Niña would be hers to treasure.
(Niña retired January, 2012; re-appeared in clearance sale July, 2012)
Josefina’s Niña Doll $15 JCAD
A+ Such a sweet little doll! Every girl needs her dolly, and Josefina is no exception.I love her sweet, serious little stitched face. She has pretty black yarn hair. She even has tiny gold hoop earrings! I do not have Josefina's Christmas dress yet, but just seeing the fabric of Niña's dress is enough to let me know to put it on my short list. A very pretty doll for a very pretty girl.

My Nina (which I bought new this year) has a slightly different brightness to the colors on her dress from the original PC Christmas dress. Therefore she matches the newer American Girl Christmas dress perfectly, but she's kind of too bright for the Pleasant Company Christmas dress. I wish I could find a PC Nina to match my PC dress. Pleasant Co dress (left); AG dress(right) See? both dresses are beautiful, but Nina seems to favor the one made in her era!

Just bought this and the detail in it makes it worth the price. It is very small, however, it is a doll FOR a doll, so to be expected. It makes all of the details so much more appreciated! Gold hoop earrings, the mantilla and xmas dress to match Josie's, the real face embroidery rather than a simple draw-on. Stunning.

I got Nina today and I love her! She is very pretty (espically compared to Kit's Amelia doll). I love all the little details she has: her lace veil, her earrings and her pantalettes. Overall - A+

The doll - I was absolutely stunned by how much I liked Nina. This is one of those cases where the actual doll looks better than the catalog pictures. She's been one of my best purchases (and for $10 shipped, I really love her)! She looks very saintly with her solemn face. I love how she matches Josefina's dress, although Nina's outfit has a few extra touches with the lace petticoat and ruffled collar. She even has earrings - they are jewelry rings stitched on at her ears. The only problem is that the dress fabric does not quite match Josefina's - they both have the AG fabric, but Nina's is a bit more orange in tone - Josefina's looks more green. I'm not too bothered by that though, because it would be hard to match them if they were from different batches. Nina is a bit taller than Sari, our other mini doll. I give her an A++!

I just received Nina today, yay sale prices! Anyway, I don't know why I waited so long to buy her for my Josefina, she's so cute. Her little mantilla, earrings and dress are adorable. I sort of wish the doll came in an outfit that's a little more seasonally neutral, but since that's the way its written in the story I suppose it makes sense. I give her an A- overall.

Niña is so adorable. I love her serious little embroidered face and tiny earrings. I love how her tiny dress matches Josefina's- and the little pantalettes too! Grade: A

I love Niña! She is so well-made. I'm not sure how long the little veil would last if I was still 9, but its absolutely gorgeous. There's so much attention to detail. I think she's precious and well worth the money spent. I love that she's soft, her legs are actually sewn apart, and that she has the pantalettes, not just lace. Just in case you were wondering - the pantalettes are not full ones like Josefina's. They only come to her waist.

Nina Doll ~ How sweet is this doll, it has that handcrafted quality to it that I love form American Girl. I actually bought her before I had Josefina's Christmas dress. I can't believe she has earrings! She is a winner for sure. A

I just purchased the Nina doll for my Josefina (yay finally!), and I agree with all the wonderful glowing reviews. The one thing I noticed with mine is that her pantalettes are removable!!!! Don't about others, but I did think this might be worth a mention. A+

A new photo from this year of Josefina and Nina in their matching dresses! You can see the slight color difference here, Nina's dress is a bit brighter:
