Josefina’s Night Shift for Dolls

This is a very sweet little night gown. I would not mind having one in my size! It is so soft and pretty. The lace edged neck has a a pretty red ribbon woven through it that ties in a pretty bow in the front.
From all of the pictures I have seen,I thought the fabric was just plain, solid white.The fabric IS white, but it has a pinstripe look to it created by white stripes that have a bit of shine to them.
It is a very pretty gown.

This nightgown is much prettier in person! I also love the fabric, and I really enjoy the generous sleeve legnth so that they pool a bit at the wrists, so cute! An A+ for sure!

I wasn't as crazy about this as I thought I would be. It is very plain and almost seems boxy on the doll. However Im sure it would be very comfortable and it is more like something I would have worn as a child. You need to pull the red ribbon tight in order for it to look better.

The night shift - not much here, but what's here is nice. I bought this little number in 2008. A style very similar but a little longer than Josefina's everyday camisas, the night shift is a thin cotton with "shadow stripes". The ribbon is permanently tied and is a deep red color. I always thought that the edge of the neck was just a ruffle where the ribbon gathered, but there is actually lace stitched around the neckline! The sleeves, though, really are gathered. I think that the price is rather expensive for one piece, made of sort of thin fabric. Just a hint - you can use this night shift as a long-sleeved camisa in a pinch. Another hint - it wrinkles easily. : ) A- Here it is being worn as a camisa with Josefina's rebozo and school skirt:

The night shift is okay, but it doesn't fit Josefina like I thought it would. The shoulders hang off her unless you pull the ribbon very tightly. It is made out of a soft, cotton material which would feel very nice to sleep in though. I give the nightshift a B.

I really like that Josefina's beautiful nightie can also be worn as a long-sleeved camisa. In fact, it's exactly like the camisa her older sister, Clara, wears in the dramatis personae in the beginning of the books. The white on white striping is absolutely lovely, it's such a pretty detail. For a nightgown, I think this is actually one of the prettiest that AG has released for their dolls. I just wish I could make a tiny one for Niña! Grade: A  |

Does the velcro easily snag Josefina's hair? I think this nightgown looks very cute, and good for Josefina, but I'm worried about the velcro. Not any worse than any other velcro closure. Just pull her braid to the side (or turn her head around) when you're dressing her in her night shift. |

Really enjoyed this outfit. But, the ribbon threaded throughout the top always snagged and finally just ripped. I was very dissapointed and I don't believe I will purchase it again.

Okay, update to say that I recently acquired a PM version of this on Ebay. Wow, big difference! The fabric in the PM version is very thick, thicker than most of Josefina's camisas (whereas my late Mattel version is quite thin, see above)! It's a better version but I think it's too big for my Mattel doll. Just thought I'd add this for information's sake.  |

Pictures? Yes!  Lovely and simple. I've thought about using it as a camisa with the indigo skirt, but haven't got any pictures of it. It doesn't stay on a hanger very well, but that's a minor annoyance. |

Are there two versions of this nightshift? The PC one I just received from a AGPT member doesn't have a bow. It has a stationary ribbon sewn at both ends. I am disappointed. I can add my own bow to it, but I like authenticity. I should have gotten a picture first I guess. Maybe it was modified to solve the ribbon problems stated above.

I have the original PC version of the nightgown with thick soft cotton. It has the red bow in front (purchased in 1998). However, I just got another in a lot from a transitional Josefina and it didn't have the bow (it was also thinner and kind of silky). I wonder why they changed it? I prefer mine. |

The red ribbon is threaded through the eyelets on the top and sewn in place in the back. The bow is just sewn onto the front of both the PC and the AG version. There was not a time when the Night Shift did not have a bow on the front.
