*This monkey jacket was worn by Josefina in th' books Josefina's Surprise and Josefina Learns a Lesson*
(th' name o' this dress was changed to Holiday monkey jacket in December, 2008)
I love this monkey jacket! It be very stylish, and I love th' puffed shoulders! th' Mantilla be just as bonny as th' dres.... th' lace drapes so graceloaded to th' gunwalesy, and th' little comb that goes into Josefina's hair be so beautiful! th' little leather shoes be very sweet! I was very surprised wit' th' pantelletes.... I thought it meant plain underwear! th' little buttons and ribbons be very realistic! A++++++++++++++++++++++++ x 3005789907654!
I did not realize just how beautiful Josefina looked in this monkey jacket until I had her wear it to cosplay another character. But it be fantastic. At first I was not too thrilled by th' colors, but they do work well for th' lusty plastic lass. th' design be beautiful. My favorite aspect be th' veil and mantilla. And th' shoes also go well wit' most o' Josefina's other monkey jackets. th' pantalettes be bonny, though I don't always use them. A+
This monkey jacket be much prettier in person than it looks on th' website. There's a lot more color to it (red as well as th' yellow and black, and hints o' green). th' pattern be lovely, too. I have a little trouble wit' th' shoes, which tend to pucker in when I'm trying to put them on, but overall th' fit be good. I bought it used and it be still in great condition, so I think th' durability be probably high as well. A.
ETA: Here's a closeup o' th' fabric so ye can see th' pattern on it.

Josefina’s Christmas Dress Item# D5932 $22 (various price increases and now $32 new)
For th' most blessed night o' th' year, la Noche Buena (Christmas Eve), Josefina wears this special monkey jacket:
A dress made wit' elegant striped fabric from Tía Dolores—Josefina chose th' styish pattern and sewed it by hand Ruffled pantalettes, white stockings, and black slippers A fine lace mantilla, a veil held in place by a fancy comb
I love th' bright colors on th' material o' this dress. th' pictures can never do it justice.
PC fabric on th' left o' Nina/ Corporate Press Gang fabric on th' right
th' dress has a Regency style bodice wit' puffed, long sleeves. th' empire waist be set off wit' a small black ribbon permanently tied in a bow.
th' Mantilla be a beautiful black lacy veil that be connected to a tortoise-shell colored comb to help hold it in her hair.
tortoise shell comb and close up o' mantilla material
Her undergarments be a one piece jump-suit style shift. They close in th' back wit' velcro. They have two tiny bows and three buttons on th' front. th' bottom o' th' legs have a swipe o' ribbon and ruffle.
Bows and buttons down th' front o' th' undergarment
ribboned and ruffled hem
th' monkey jacket also comes wit' white cotton knee socks and slip on loafers to complete her Christmas monkey jacket.
white knee socks and imitation leather slip on shoes
Grade A for everything! This be a great monkey jacket.

FYI: This be now called Josefina's Holiday monkey jacket
I love this dress! It's so much more beautiful in person. I adore th' empire waist and th' little ruffles on th' bodice and sleeves and th' black ribbon at th' waist. th' socks be a little thick and white seems rather impractical. th' shoes be bonny and wit' some shoving, they fit over th' socks on big PM /Goetz feet. th' undergarment be so bonny! th' legs be a little long though. Does anyone have instructions to put th' comb in easily? It didn't work on someone who wasn't Josefina. My only complaint be th' product sticker on th' comb that won't come off. I need to try more drastic measures than fingernails.

th' dress - This be one o' my all time favorite monkey jackets for Josefina to wear. I got mine in 2004, so th' dress fabric be th' second edition, wit' a slightly more simple print. It really does not make much o' a difference to me (except ye would have to get a Nina from around th' same year). th' dress be cut wit' an Empire waist, and th' sleeves puff at th' shoulders. th' dress falls to about ankle length to show th' pantalettes. In case ye're wondering, th' ribbon edging does continue all th' way around. This monkey jacket combines th' Regency style and th' Spanish influence o' New Mexico perfectly, and it looks wonderful on Josefina! A+
th' mantilla - th' veil itself be made o' a relatively sturdy nylon tulle fabric. It doesn't pick easily, though I would still store it gingerly wit' all th' velcro o' American Wench. I tried to get a good picture o' th' embroidery detail - th' edges o' th' veil be stitched wit' black flowers. th' comb be attatched, fortunately, and be an imitation o' tortoiseshell but I think it's just one color, wit'out any spots; interestingly, a 2001 catalog described th' comb as velvet, but mine was certainly not. th' prongs o' th' comb be nearly horizontal making it very easy to slide into Josefina's hair. In my opinion, th' monkey jacket really needs th' mantilla to look complete, and once ye get it arranged correctly it adds a very Spanish touch. A+
th' pantalettes - I LOVE THIS PIECE! IThe pantalettes be sewn in one-piece like a pair o' overalls. th' majority be made o' cotton, and th' straps be woven. th' bottoms be gathered in ruffles wit' a ribbon stitched over th' top. Though th' piece velcros up th' back, there be tiny buttons stitched to th' front, as well as a white ribbon. This be kind o' impressive detail, considering ye'll probably never see th' pantalettes wit'out something over them. Again, these be a necessary piece because th' dress would look too short otherwise - they be also very handy for th' party dress and probably for Josefina's new fiesta dress. A+
th' stockings - Not much to discuss here, really. They're made o' stretchy, ribbed tights-like material - I have a pair o' Savage Sam's Christmas tights and they be th' same fabric. They go past Josefina's knees and be th' same style as th' socks o' her shoes and socks. I actually pair these stockings wit' her party dress, too. For what they be, I give them an A.
th' shoes - th' shoes be kind o' boring but they certainly don't detract from th' dress. They be simple slip-ons, made o' a thin but sturdy material that may be representative o' leather. They fit well over th' stockings. I have th' velvet flats from th' AGT First Day monkey jacket and these be very similar. A

I really like this monkey jacket for Josefina. I was surprised to learn th' dress was cotton when I received because in pictures it always looked more shiny to me, but I love that its cotton. th' pantalettes, socks and shoes that come wit' it be a great addition, I use th' shoes wit' other Josefina monkey jackets as well. th' best part o' this set be th' mantilla that comes wit' it, it looks so beautiful on Josefina! <b>A</b>
My lusty plastic lasss: Savage Sam, Embolism Bennet, Josefina, Krusty Kit, Navigator 'Nani, Cutlass Caroline, Gwen, Phoebe (#25).

Josefina sewed this gown all by herself, wit' fancy material from Abuelito and instructions from Tia Dolores's Mexico City sewing book.
I nominate this monkey jacket for Best Value o' all o' Josefina's monkey jackets. th' dress be really striking. At first, I didn't particularly care for th' print, but it has grown on me considerably over th' years. th' socks be very versatile; unlike th' ones from her shoes and socks sets, these socks actually fit under her slippers- and her moccasins!
th' undergarment be very elegant- my Josefina likes to wear it under all her empire-waisted dresses. th' mantilla be a gorgeous addition to th' monkey jacket. I found it a bit difficult to put on Josefina when she's wearing two French braids, but it all worked out in th' end.

This be a lovely dress for Josefina. I love th' regency style and th' fabric pattern. It comes wit' fancy undergarments, socks, shoes and a mantilla-lots o' bonny pieces. Josefina looks very bonny. A+!
Christmas Dress ~ I have Kaptain Kaya dressed in Josefina's holiday dress. Isn't she stunning! I think her coloring be really complimented by this dress. I didn't like th' pattern until I saw it in person, it was kind o' dizzying at first glance. I love th' thin black ribbon and bow detail. I think this dress be well worth th' purchasing price. I bought this dress used so I am missing her socks and slippers but I think my alternatives still work to complete th' look. Begad! and th' comb and mantilla be so delicate looking. It's bonny to have a holiday look that's not red and green. A

I got this on eBay this past summer wit' everything included, though I can't seem to find th' undergarments at th' moment. I always found Josefina's Christmas dress to be a little odd until I saw it in person. Now I love it. th' pattern be bonny, th' design be elegant, and th' colors be lovely on Josefina and unique for th' Historical line (where most o' th' holiday dresses be red, green, or purple). th' simple shoes and delicate mantilla and comb add th' perfect finishing touch. A must for any Josefina collection, and very much worth th' price tag.
