Tea Set

The set is porcelain and brilliant white with gold filligree detail and pink brushed petals motif. It's really very precious and so girly! I absolutely love it! The tea cups do not have handles and the tiny silver sthingys are just darling! The silver platter is VERY shiny almost like a mirror and there is an scroll like engraving on it. It was hard to capture that.

I purchased it along with Samantha's party treats and they both go really well together!

My only disappointment is that there isn't something more unique about this tea set than purchasing another tea set that can fit 18" dolls. Which is why I really loved the now retired Chocolate Set!

My favorite part of the set is the Tea Box. It is solid wood and just beautiful.

I love this set.

The dishes are quite thick and heavy and seem to be quite durable. The little teapot so so darn cute, I love the round shape.

I have to admit that I was a bit disappointed by this set’s release in the fall of 2005. It seemed out of place in Felicity’s collection since her family didn’t drink tea in the books (due to the Tea Act/ Townshend Acts). However, while the set still isn’t one of my favorites, it has grown on me a bit over the years. I like to think of it as something Felicity used during her lessons at Miss Manderly's instead of a replacement for her Chocolate Set. In that way, it’s kind of like a larger, revamped Tea Lesson set.

Putting the story and historical aspects aside, I still have mixed feels on the set. On one hand, all of the pieces are fairly well made, solid, and seem reasonably durable. However, like HelloMiss mentioned, the set lacks specialness overall and looks a lot like something you can get a gift store for less.

Included in this set are a teapot, two cups and saucers, a sugar bowl, and creamer, two spoons, a metal tray, and a wooden tea caddy.

Dishes:
I was a bit surprised that the dishes are such a solid ceramic. They feel quite substantial and I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re a bit more durable than some of the others. Therefore, it could be one of the better sets for play. Also, it may be worth mentioned that the teapot spout can really be used to pour liquids (It’s not solid).

The “lotus flower motif” appears to be created by placing a decal on each ceramic piece. There are two or three places on my set where you can see where the decal overlaps or wrinkled during the application. It doesn’t really take away from the motif or the set. However, the person who selected my set mentioned that some pieces had far more “defects” and that she had a hard time finding saucers with reasonably centered patterns. This may be something worth checking when you purchase this set. Also, not that it matters any, but all of the ceramic pieces (except for the lids) are marked DO7 on the bottom.

Tea Caddy:
The wooden tea caddy is very similar to the one that came with Felicity’s Tea Lesson set. It’s just a couple shades lighter and has “CO7 Made in China” stamped on the bottom. Although the piece isn’t unique to the set, I’m glad it’s included. It’s really the one piece that distinguishes this set from a generic tea set.

Spoons:
The spoons appear to metal and look similar to the one that comes with Felicity’s Tea Lesson set. Therefore, they aren’t quite as nice as the ones that came with the Chocolate set, but they’re not bad.

Tray:
Despite its hugeness, I like the tray. It appears to be a light metal and has an engraved design in the center. Unfortunately, it does show fingerprints and could scratch easily.

I haven’t tried it yet, but the tray may also look alright with on Felicity’s Dressing Table with her or Elizabeth’s Nighttime Necessities.

Overall, the set isn’t one my favorite dish sets, but it’s okay. It looks nice on Felicity’s table and you get a fair number of pieces. I’m glad I purchased mine on sale, but considering the prices of some AG items, I don’t think it’s a rip-off at $48 either. Then again, I’m sort of a sucker when it comes to AG dishes.

Oh my gosh I simply LOVE this set. Totally worth $48, I think I let out an audible "squee!" when I was taking the pieces out of the box.

If my cat knocks these off Felicity's table and breaks them I might just kill her. They're beyond adorable.
