Tea Lesson - RETIRED

This set is very cute and important for reenacting Felicity Learns a lesson. The tea caddy is lightweight wood to resemble cherry. It has a fake lock to show that tea was expensive and a highly valued possession. The tea cup and saucer are heavy china and beautifully patterened. The cup does not have a handle, showing that in Felicity's day, china came from China and Chinese tea cups do not have handles. The napkin is heavy and waffled and good for sopping up (pretend) tea spills. The spoon is nice, nothing special. A-

I was really pleased with these. The cup and saucers are very neatly designed and actually look expensive (which is good, since it was and is.) The queen cake is cute, but could have looked more realistic, the tea caddy is quality. The napkin is nicer than I expected.

I loved this set. It always seemed well made to me and the tea caddy is very sturdy. I agree with shadowrose that the queen cake could look a little more realistic. I also noticed that overtime the spoon DOES tarnish and never looks completely the same (or at least for me) after cleaning it.

I just received an older (evidently original) version of this set so I put my sets side by side for a comparison. There are differences in them, although both state they are "Pleasant Company"

First is the Queen cake. The older set has actual 'nutmeg' flakes on it and looks very real. The tea caddy is a bit smaller and obviously darker than the newer one. The 'latch' on the dark (older) caddy is larger and the handle is flatter. The tea cup has a smaller base circumference and the plate is a bit rounder, more bowl shaped. The fruit designs are darker on the older set.

I have a newer PC tea lesson set and have dropped the cup without breaking it and keep it wrapped in the original bubble wrap in Felicity's accessory box part of her (homemade) wardrobe and it hasn't broken yet.

I love this set. I bought two (second one Mattel) so that I could set a table. Wish there was a teapot, creamer, and sugar... I like this set more than the new pink one.

Mine survived my sister and I's childhoods with only the handle broken off the tea caddy. The dishes were actually pretty durable in our opinion. The original tea caddy had a little U-shaped handle that was different from the modern one. (I'd take a photo but the handle fell off years ago). I like the modern caddy's handle more and it seems less likely to break.

The teacups and saucers are so cute and pretty, and the set was really neat that it came with the spoon, napkin, and queen cake. The queen cakes are incredibly detailed and awesome. Wish I had 5-6 more to put in a little basket or something.

I have the older PC set, according to others' handy side-by-side comparison pictures. It's the first of Felicity's cute little accessory items that I bought. The tea caddy is very cute and made of a dark-finished, sturdy wood, with a tiny brass detail to give the illusion of a keyhole at the front. On top of the caddy is a shapely little handle.

The cup and the plate are adorable! They have what appears to be screen-printed peaches on them and just a bit of gold trim for some shine.

I also like the Queen's Cake a lot. It looks very realistic to me, and has a nice weight to it that a lot of fake food items just don't.

The napkin is made of a thick cotton with a waffle-weave. It looks very absorbent! The spoon is... just a basic spoon, I guess. It's silver and has already tarnished. I'm not going to bother polishing it.
